|7| Don't Let The Bedbugs Bite
[RECAP]:
Grabbing the phone and unlocking it I saw I had one new message. From the person I had been waiting for, all these days replied with something so simple, but my brain was going haywire.
Victoria had texted me:
Bell, I need you.
****
A gasp tore through my lips as I read the message. Oh god. What if something was wrong?
Clutching my phone in hand I rushed out of the room and down the stairs.
"Where are you going? Liam's mom asked in concern, "Is something the matter?"
"Um, sorry ma'am but my frien-err- best friend had sent me something and I am worried about her so I thought I should go find out."
"Oh," she said nodding understandingly, "I hope everything will be ok."
"I hope so ma'am." Taking that as my cue I rushed out the door grabbing the keys discarded on the table.
Guilt suddenly coursed through me, I was acting as if this was my house. I made a mental note to apologize to them later.
Backing out of the driveway I sped towards Vic's house.
I made it there in less than five minutes. Jumping out of the car I ran towards the door of Victoria's residence and rang the bell.
DING.
DONG.
A frustrated sigh escaped through my lips as I went to ring the bell again.
DING.
DONG.
Another frustrated sigh escaped through my lips as I reached for the bell once again. But the door swung open before I could get a chance to.
"Bella, what are you doing here?"
"Wow, what an interesting way to show how much you missed someone Victoria." I said sarcastically, "I missed you too."
Her surprised face softened and opened the door wider to let me in. After a few moments of silence she said, "It's just that, I didn't expect you, here, especially at this time"
I looked up at the clock, it read 7:43.
"Well, you said you needed me, here I am." The concern etched on my face was inevitable and I felt as if there was more to this story than she was letting on.
Now noticing the silence, I asked her, "Hey, where are your parents?"
As if that was all that it took, she broke down into my arms. Her breaths coming out in hiccups as she clutched onto my arms.
It was painful to see her like this. All I could do was embrace her and let the torrent of her tears to soak through my shirt. I could feel her clench her fists, not knowing exactly why. I could hear her whimpering, suffocating with each breath she took. I ran my fingers through her hair, time and time again, in an attempt to calm whatever was going on within her mind.
"I'm sorry" she said letting go of me and taking a step back.
"No, don't apologize, whatever it is I'm sure it's not your fault."
She let out a dry laugh, "It actually is."
I sent her a confused look, "What do you mean?"
"I mean that," she sniffled, "when my parents fight, they keep bringing up me, and how if I wasn't here things would be easier."
Her hiccups became louder, trying to contain her tears.
"Vic, look at me. VIC!"
She looked at me her eyes red and distraught. I soothingly rubbed her shoulders, "It's going to be ok, you know why?"
She shook her head.
"Because you're a strong person, and you have me and Liam and so many people to support you. No come one, you need to get some rest. You have school tomorrow."
"Bells, you can go. I'll be fine. You have school tomorrow as well. And you know how my Mom is when people are here after late hours."
"Are you sure? I can stay, it won't be a problem." I eyed her curiously, her tears drying up.
"Yeah I'm sure." She pulled me in for another hug, giving me a faint smile before heading upstairs.
"Goodnight." I softly shouted.
She peeped her head over the stairwell, "Goodnight.Don't let the bed bugs bite."
I smiled back at her, twisting the car keys in my hand I left the apartment my my jumbled. Was she having problems with her parents? Or was it the other way around.
Putting the key into the ignition, I gave one last look at the doorway for some sign to stay, but I got none. So I reversed out the driveway and left, driving back to Liam's house.
When I arrived, the door was opened immediately to reveal an anxious Liam.
"Hey, sorry about leaving so un-"
Liam pulled me into a hug, pulling me inside the house. He pulled away closing the front door and grabbed my hand, pulling me to his room.
"What happened?" he asked.
"It's Vic, I think her parents are fighting again. It seems to be getting worse." I thought back to other times where it has been like this before, and in the end Victoria is distraught, sad, and a crying mess.
"Is Vic okay?" he questioned.
"Yeah I think so." I replied again.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah." I replied.
He raised an eyebrow at me.
"Ok, maybe not." I admitted.
He pulled me in, and I leaned my head on his chest. Listening to the steady heartbeats from his chest.
I still haven't apologized to Liam's parents, well his Mom to be exact.
Liam stood up, dragging me up with him, pressing a light kiss to my forehead. "Dinner is about to be ready, we should start heading downstairs."
I nodded my head, and pulled back from Liam's embrace and followed him downstairs. Sure enough, Liam's mom was setting plates on the table with utensils on the side.
"I'll go call Dad and Bryan." He excused himself, leaving me and his mom alone.
I decided to speak up, "I just want to apologize for my behavior lately, and acting as if it was my house, taking your care keys and I'm truly very very so-"
"Oh honey," she cut me off, "It's okay besides I would do the very same thing if I was in your position. And besides you are part of our family. Come here."
She pulled me into a hug patting my back lightly. I wrapped my arms around her for a moment before letting go. I seemed to be getting a lot of hugs today.
"Hello everyone," Liam's father greeted us, then placed a kiss on the cheek of his wife, "What's on the menu today?"
"Lasagna or Mac and Cheese." she replied placing the pots in the middle of the table.
I waited for them to take their seats before I took mine between Liam and Bryan.
"Which one do you kids want?" Liam's mom asked us.
"Mac and cheese please" came our unanimous reply.
She chuckled, serving us a plentiful amount.
"Honey what about you?" Liam mother asked, this time to her husband.
"I'll take the lasagna sweetheart." he said.
She served herself and her husband lasagna, then sat down. We all clapsed hands as she said a prayer. "God Bless this food and provide for those what have none. In Jesus Name, Amen."
"Amen." We all said chorously then digged in.
I bit back a moan as the food hit my taste buds. It tasted so good! "Mrs.Wright your macaroni and cheese taste so good!"
"Why thank you Isabella." she smiled and returned back to her food. Then she started a small talk between her, Bryan, and Mr.Wright.
As I was eating my macaroni, Liam's hand inched onto my thigh. I flicked off and sent him a look. He only replied with a smirk continuing to eat his macaroni.
"Isabella, how's school been lately?" Mr.Wright asked.
"It's been great, thanks for asking." I said.
He nodded his head and continued conversation with his wife. Bry Bry stood up his plate empty and headed to the sink.
"Leave your plates in the sink dear, don't worry about it." Mrs.Wright said to Bryan, he responded with a 'Yes ma'am' and headed upstairs, probably to the gaming room.
I returned back to my plate, Mr.Wright had also stood up to put his plates in the sink along with his wife.
Liam sent me a mischievous look, his hand settled on my thigh again, making soft circles before standing up and heading to the sink as well sending me a smirk as he went upstairs.
I quickly finished my food and put the plates in the sink where Mrs. Wright was washing. "Need any help?" I asked.
"No thank you sweetheart, go to bed you have a long day ahead tomorrow.
And she couldn't be farther from the truth.
****
"Wake up." Someone said shaking me.
"No." I grunted in reply then winced at the sound of my voice.
"Come on, you need to get to school today." the voice said.
"No." I replied once again.
The person sat down, at the space left between me and the bed, fingers running through my hair.
"Get up." the voice said, but this time I recognized the voice to be Liam.
"No." I said once again. Gosh when was he going to realize I won't get up.
"Fine." The bed dipped down and I felt his body move closer, and I suddenly felt hot breath on my ear.
The sheets were ripped off me and I was suddenly airborne.
"LIAM!" I shouted angrily.
"That's my name babe." he said. He walked towards the bathroom dropping me onto my feet, then said, "Shower." and left.
Men.
