You Can Be A Foul Or A Fool
I delivered the fowl with ease except when Peanut kicked me. Gabriel was grabbing a warm and wet towel for the foul, so he didn't see it. The thing is that I was trained to avoid kicks and scratches from most of the animals I would encounter. I should have seen that coming. This is why my parents think I'm a failure, because I am one. After I checked on the foul, Gabriel gave me the amount it costed. He thanked me and left. It was around 11:49 when he left. I went to the pet room. I pulled the x-ray machine to the silver table. I slid onto the silver table and took a look at my leg. The horse only chipped my bone. A little piece of my bone was broken off. "What should I do?" I asked myself. Taking a closer look at my leg I noticed that a part of it was still connected to my bone. I carefully hoped to my medicine closet. I bought a few things just in case this ever happened.
"Dr. Donatella?" Did I just hear Amelia's voice?
"I'm in the pet room!" I yelled slightly. The door cracked open. "Miss Francesca, what are you doing here?"
"To tell you the truth, I have big news!" She looked at my black and blue leg. "I guess the news can wait."
I chuckled. "Peanut took me off my guard. She is so sweet when Mr. Parker is around."
Amelia nodded. "How can I help you?"
I blinked. "You want to help me?"
She tilted her head. "That is extremely sad. Are you not use to people helping you out?"
I thought back into my childhood. I remember calling the police. "Hello how may I help you?"
"My father is hurting my mom." There was no reply.
"How old are you?" She asked.
"I'm six."
She was silent for a moment. "Kid, we don't like pranks okay! We had enough of them today. Don't you ever call this number again unless it is a real emergency. Now give me your name so I can put you in the records."
I told her my name and everything else she wanted to know. When I hung up, I heard my father's footsteps behind me. "Who were you calling, you little brat?" What happened next was a little too blurry and bloody to describe.
Then I remembered my last day of high school. When I came home happy and cheery, my mom came out of the house mad and cranky. "Leah, this is not your home anymore!" That was just like saying I wasn't a part of the faimly.
"You are not going to help me at all?"
"No." She turned around and grabbed something. When she turned back around she threw a box at me. "This has all your stuff in it."
"Where am I'm going to go? I don't even have a car."
"You will fine a way." She turned back into the house and slammed the door. I heard a little click. She locked it too. I grabbed my box and started walking down the driveway.
My parents returned into my life when I started making more money than them. I looked at Amelia in the eye and said, "I am use to it." "Very use to it..." I thought. I hoped back to the silver table. I pointed to the medicine closet. "Do you mind getting the crutches and the black leg compress?"
Amelia nodded. "No problem." She walked into the medicine closet and grabbed the items I asked for. I took the crutches from her and then tried my best to put the black compress on my leg. "Let me do it." I furrowed my eyebrows at her and gave her the compress. "You are use to doing things on your own also, right?" I nodded.
"Now what about that news you need to tell me." I asked as she carefully slid the compress up my ankle.
"Right, I'm going Hawaii to be a nurse."
"That's is some news. I will surely miss you. Where are you going to live?" I smile.
"With my boyfriend."
"Of corse." I thought. "I wish that you will have a safe flight. You are going by plane, correct."
"Yes and thanks." She smiled.
"You will call me when you arrive there, okay?" I carefully slid off the table.
"Of corse." She smiled again.
"Well goodbye." I patted her shoulder.
She pulled me into a hug. "Goodbye." She realised me. A tear slid down her cheek. I wiped it.
"Take care of Lexi for me?" I asked.
"Of corse." Then she left. Then I sighed.
