Chapter 1

This man he'd met would show up in his life again, as he'd suggested. He showed up that very night, when Vincent was called into work to train their new employee in how cameras and masks and flashlights and whatnot functioned, and when to do what. He usually hated doing this, but tonight he felt rather giddy about the prospect of training the new guy. Maybe the new guy could train him a bit tonight...

... no, Vincent. Bad. Focus. Work.

He peeked in the mirror again before he left the house. He figured that he looked about as good as you could look in the ridiculous uniform of a kiddy restaurant worker. He'd even tied a little ribbon around his ponytail, which hung down to his shoulders.

When he got there, Scott was already there. He had a feeling that would be the case. Since there was only one chair, Vincent sat up on the desk.

"Okay, so, er..." He picked up the tablet and handed it to Scott. "That's our state-of-the-art surveillance tablet that regularly likes to malfunction. It's just a touchscreen, easy enough."

Scott tapped through the rooms, smiling, as Vincent picked up the mask.

"And this is the mask! Uh, you just put it on when a robot comes by... well, except Foxy. That's when you use this bad boy!" Vincent threw the flashlight up in the air, trying to look cool, and awkwardly fumbled with it before catching it, blushing.

"... interesting." Scott chuckled, scooting his chair up a bit to grab the necessary equipment. "I'm glad you're teaching me to use this stuff. How could I ever figure out all this complicated, highly technical technology?" He pretended to not know how to use the flashlight, causing Vincent to burst into laughter.

Scott put on the mask next, upside down. "I can't see! How does this work?!" Vincent had doubled over, hands across his stomach. "It's stuck!"

"Alright, c-come on, we gotta get to work..."

"No, I'm not kidding, I actually got it stuck!" Scott pulled at it.

"That's 'cause it's not meant to go upside down, dummy." He pulled on it with him until it finally popped off. "There."

"Thanks. Now..." He handed Vincent the mask. "I think it'd be better if you handled this. Let's get to work!"
