In the previous chapter, we learned the story of the main characters of Just Dance 2023 Edition. We know what happened, but maybe now is the time to get to know them better and find out which character is closest to us? Let's get started!

• Sara - Cheerful Partier

"I don't wanna think about what's gonna be after this, I just wanna live right now"

The first heroine we meet in this edition (and also the first one of the story mode) is Sara. She's a normal girl; she's human.
As Sara becomes a coach, her outfit becomes bolder: her hair turns blue, she has stronger makeup, her clothes are now very colorful, and she has several colored hairpins. Subdued colors become vivid.

The name Sarah translated from Hebrew means princess.

From the official Just Dance 2023 Edition post on X (formerly Twitter), we learn that she is shy, but at the same time- a very cheerful, energetic and positive person. Despite her shyness, Sara is very friendly and quickly gets to know the other characters in the story mode, like: Wanderlust & Discoball, Brezziana, Mihaly, and Jack Rose.

Dance for each of our characters is different, but it plays a very important role for everyone. For this girl - it's an escape from normal, boring life, its difficulties, other people. She finally can be herself and show her true emotions, when she's alone.

That's how Sara symbolizes us, Just Dancers. Dance allows us to have a moment of peace, rest from everyday problems. Like Sara, many players are shy or insecure and dancing alone in the room allows them to show themselves completely & just be happy.

However, speaking of Sarah's qualities, we must not forget her courage. As, come on, the girl traveled through a completely new world with a smile on her face, she was as a normal human entangled in a fight with the main enemy of the game and led to the victory of her group - she is very brave.
We can also see how quickly she develops bonds of friendship and trust, and how others' words of otherscan affect her: her friends' enthusiasm helped her prepare to take on the Night Swan.

That's right, fight with Night Swan!
It is important to note how much Sara has changed throughout the story. She started as a cheerful and shy nice girl, and ended up beating the Night Swan.

When she dances at the end, everyone can see how her self-confidence and sassiness have increased. Sara is an extraordinary dancer, and her skills are excellent since she defeated the villain in the story.

After the above quote, you can see that Sara lives at the moment, leaving her thoughts and consequences for later and focusing on the present.

• Wanderlust - Dancing Magician

Wanderlust is the son of The Traveler and Si'ha Nova. He's also the Prince of Danceverses, deity and sorcerer.

Wanderlust looks very similar to his parents: his skin is blue like his mother's, and he has a short robe reminiscent of his father's robe. The Traveler wears a triangular necklace, exactly the same shape as the clasp on the Wanderlust trouser belt. In addition, on the clothes of the young boy, there are many dark-gold patterns, just like on the clothes of his parents.

Wanderlust means passion for travel and longing for travel.

Fun fact!
Did you know that Wanderlust can't take his crown off his head? Why? Because this crown represents his duty as the Chosen One.

When we're watching and dancing to the story mode, we can see that Wanderlust has powers after his father, including creating portals and traveling through all the Danceverses. Apart from The Traveler, Night Swan and Panda, he is another character known to travel this way.

Because these coaches can use the power of Flow. What is the Flow? It's the power you can feel when you dance in this world. The more you dance, the more you feel it. However, to be able to use it, you have to be for example: the chosen one - just like Wanderlust. Unfortunately, not everyone can use it, but you can learn about this power, like Mihaly, but about this later.

Wanderlust is a very cheerful person, he is optimistic, always full of good energy. The boy makes friends with others very easily. Looking back, Wanderlust is smiling broadly throughout the "Enter the Danceverses" playlist (except for the moment he was turned into a Night Swan servant, but who would smile at that moment?). He is always positive towards everyone; we can mostly see this when he meets Sarah as well as Jack Rose. Thanks to Lore Master, we know that Wanderlust chose Sarah because he needed a person full of good energy, a person who can motivate others and is ready to help. Wanderlust takes care of Sara, shows her Danceverses, teaches her what his world is like, and always supports her, for example in the fight against the Night Swan. As for Jack Rose, although he reacted negatively to Wanderlust and the rest of his group, our prince was always kind to him. Even after Wanderlust was turned by the Night Swan, the boy still wanted Jack Rose to join their team. Of course, he gets along just as well with Mihaly and Brezziana.

The next important figure in Wanderlust's life, apart from his family and friends, is - yes, exactly - Discoball. Discoball is Wanderlust's invention. It is the prince's friend and helper. Discoball can also create portals and dimensions to travel across all planets. In my opinion, by creating Discoball, Wanderlust (maybe and probably with the help of his dad - The Traveler) added his flow power to it. We know Wanderlust is the chosen one and a powerful figure. I wouldn't be surprised if his power revived the Discoball. Wanderlust also raised Discoball, which also shows how close they are.

About him and his relationship with his parents, I'll do a separate chapter, but from Lore Master, we know they're proud of him.

• Brezziana - Athletic Entertainer

"Baby keep on dancing like you ain't got a choice"

Brezziana is an energetic, courageous and cheerful figure. We can see that she's willing to help others. Everyone would like to have her in their group - she is strong and ready for challenges. In other words, the standard and the necessity to fight the Queen of Evil.

Brezziana's full name literally means "Full of energy".

We can see that Brezziana most likes to wear short blouses, crop tops, sports bras and shorts - in short, she loves sports clothes that will allow her to move at any time possible.

Brezziana is a very good motivator and she is also an amazing dancer. When it comes to fighting between The Just Dancers and the Night Swan Army, she is the first one to fight to free the other characters from the Night Swan's will, followed by Mihaly. I'm not counting on a fight between Wanderlust and Jack Rose because the prince didn't want to fight the other boy.

We also know that Brezziana has a big, good heart, we can even see it on the map "Physical" [Classic Version], when several times the pink heart on her chest starts to glow and on one of her avatars, which came into the game in the first season of "Lover Coaster". It shows how helpful and kind a person she is. Brezziana is definitely altruistic in my eyes.

You want to know who that girl is when she's not saving her world from the evil? According to the official Just Dance account on X, Brezziana is one of the most famous influencers in Danceverse! The girl is the most popular trainer and she's ready to help everyone release their energy, thanks to dancing!

• Mihaly - Rhythmic Shaman

"Go with the flow"

Mihaly is a Shaman in the world of Just Dance. They are artistic souls; in life, they are guided by what they feel, what their body tells them, and their thoughts.

The first thing I have to write about Mihaly here is that they are nonbinary. This information is important, not only because it is the first nonbinary character in the game but also because not everyone knows about it. If you're not so into Just Dance, for example, just enjoying the game and not checking out the official social media sites, you might not know it. About the Mihaly's nonbinary and some other facts, like the sexual orientations of other coaches in Danceverses you could mostly find out on X (formerly Twitter). This is where the most mini-facts are given. In the game itself, there is no such information, and from the quotes of the characters, you can not guess it either. In addition, what many players may be confused about in some countries is also unknown, including Italy, where in the game (I'm not sure how it is now or if it has been changed) Mihaly's name is written as: Mihaly Armonica. The prefix "a" in Italian is used for feminine names. Another example is from Poland, on the official Polish Instagram post, feminine pronouns were used to describe Mihaly, even though the captions on the video attached to the post indicate their non-binary nature. So the information about Mihaly's non-binary is not well spread, so for the sake of correctness and representation of non-binary people, I remind you about it.

Another interesting fact that we can read on the posts on X is where the name "Mihaly" actually comes from. It is a reference to the psychologist Mihály Csíkszentmihályi. He discussed, among other things, the concept itself and the operation of flow, which is the basis of the game's "The Flow" concept. But also, the name Mihaly means "divine" in Hungarian, while in Hebrew it means "gift from God".

Their quest, aside from defeating the Night Swan, is to develop the Flow skills and feel that magical energy while dancing. As we see in "Rather Be" and the rest of the story mode - they do both.

In "Rather Be", we can see that Mihaly's glove changes its color twice. It's blue at the beginning and end and purple in the middle of the song. In my opinion, the glove shows when Mihaly began to feel the energy of the Flow. When Mihaly wears the purple glove, they are in their world, alone, and allows their soul to connect with music and dance.

Mihaly is dressed in the usual loose clothes, has loose hair and does not wear shoes. This may indicate that for them, the most important thing is contact with the world around them and with other characters, not their appearance - but energy and soul.

Mihaly is always ready to develop and learn. They're also ready to dance that allows their body and soul to connect.

Finally, I would also like to mention a little about Master Panda. I want to make a separate chapter about Panda itself and his history. Master Panda is the incarnation of every other version of Panda that appears in the game. He is a shaman and master of the Flow technique. He is always ready and willing to teach others about the Flow. Likewise, he saw great potential in Mihaly, so he became their mentor. It is him who transmits to Mihaly the power of the Flow, drawing the shape of a paw on their shirt, signifying that they have mastered these skills and teachings. Who knows, maybe Mihaly has a bright future?

• Jack Rose - Lovable Entertainer

"I know that I can be a little cocky, you ain't never gonna stop me"

He's a performer who loves to show off and shine.

Jack loves to perform and dance when he's surrounded by people who love him, respect him, and want to see the real him. From the above quotation, we can guess that the boy can be sarcastic and persistently pursue the goal he decides on. It can also be said that the boy has a problem with sharing attention, which makes sense when looking at the relationships in his family.

Jack Rose is, as we already know from the previous chapter and plot of Just Dance, the son of Night Swan. Their relationship is not good, mainly due to the fact that his mother never supported him and was always disappointed with him. Jack Rose tried many times to get his mother's attention and love, but everything he did was not enough. When he is with his mother, the boy is always serious and has a sad expression on his face. He doesn't agree with what his mother's doing. In my opinion, Night Swan loves her son, but being perfect is more important to her. That's why she demands a lot from her son. I think she wants Jack to dance and just be perfect at it in the future. Night Swan wants him to have perfect dancing skills, but he doesn't want that - he doesn't want to dance perfectly; he just wants to have fun with it. He wants to dance and sing, but in his own way. When Jack's alone, he finally shows his emotions and who he really is, and that's exactly what he wants to do on the stage.

Now, when Jack is separated from his mother, he can really get to know and learn what love is, especially with so many amazing friends around him.

Jack Rose also dresses very elegantly, has well-groomed hair and wears dark makeup. We can tell from the feathers that his mother had something to do with the way he dresses (maybe it's because no matter what she does, she's still an authority for him), but you can also see that the boy likes to dress elegantly.

Meanings of his names:
→ Jack - the name Jack is a derivative of John, which originated in medieval England; also Jack is Celtic in origin, meaning "healthy, strong, and full of vital energy."
→ Rose - of course, it means "rose as a flower", but also refers to the timeless and romantic bloom.

Also, some people have noticed that his name may have a reference to the main characters of "Titanic", whose names were exactly Jack & Rose.

Jack Rose is also very popular, and many people love him. Maybe he'll have a relationship with someone in the future? From a post on X, we learn that Jack got a Valentine's Day card from a mysterious character, the same thing happened on a dating app, where the mysterious character wrote to him that he "looks good in red". Maybe it's the same person. But then, who is he or she? Who knows? Maybe we'll find out soon.

About Jack Rose, we can say that he is definitely a strong, tenacious, and fierce character who is also ready to learn what love really is. Hopefully, in the future, he will achieve everything he wants.

• Night Swan - Dancing Witch

"Perfect is the enemy of good, and I don't care much about good!"

Night Swan is a ruthless performer and sorcerer. She is the main antagonist in the story mode. If we don't count Amanita (from "Without Me" Extreme), Night Swan is the first evil character in the Just Dance series to be called the villain.

Night Swan is another of the few characters who can use the Flow as a power. But she does it for the wrong reasons, unlike the other characters. In her plans, the woman wanted to kidnap as many coaches as possible and turn them into her perfect servants.
But just... Why?
Aside from the obvious issues of power and control... Why is she doing this?

From the official account of Just Dance, we learn that Night Swan wanted to become the most popular and best ballerina in Danceverses. However, she failed. Oops...
Why? We don't know that yet.
Although it gives us a clue as to why this woman is so obsessed with perfect dancing and why she feels so angry and disappointed. It also explains why she demanded so much from her son and wanted to create her own army.

Her obsession with perfection begins to consume her and obliterate everything else that matters - including her child.

We also learned from the Lore Master why she did not support Jack Rose. According to the author of this story, this is because Night Swan herself never received such support in her youth, which is why she has problems with it.

After all these facts, we can guess that Night Swan's life was not easy and it was hard. But is that a good justification for everything she's done? I doubt it, probably you do too (However, we will still worship her, mother is mothering, duh).

Night Swan despises other coaches because they don't dance perfectly and don't want to learn to be better at dancing. The woman doesn't understand why fun is more important to them than perfection. For her, being good is definitely not enough. According to one post, Night Swan feeds on the hopes and dreams of her enemies. I'm sure the good energy of the other coaches is driving her crazy.

Night Swan is popular, she lives with her son in Eternyx in "Swan Tower". She also runs a prison, which we see on the map "Telephone" (Classic Version), but we'll talk about that story in another chapter.

Her name may also refer to the film "Black Swan", where perfectionism played an important role. Her dress (e.g., feathers) and her throne (swan-shaped) also refer to this.

Fun Fact!
Did you know that out of the main six (Sara, Wanderlust, Brezziana, Mihaly, Jack Rose, Night Swan) she was the first to be featured in the trailers?
That's true. Her character was briefly featured in the trailer for Season 1: "Astral" in Just Dance 2022. She appeared on one of the Tarot cards, with the inscription "XXVII" at the top and "X" (reference to the "Wheel of Fortune" card) at the bottom.
