Chapter 13: Let's talk
(Gladion POV)
'So yeah that's basically the story of my relationship problems.' I finished, letting out a deep breath and slumping my shoulders.
'And if you could stop the awkwardness between you two, would you?'
'Of course I would..'
Ashley nodded, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. 'I see. Well it seems to me that you two need to sit down and have a huge talk. A 'catching up' session if you will.'
'O~kay... What exactly will that accomplish?' I asked, scrunching up my face in confusion. Ashley rested her cheek on her palm.
'You said what's keeping you two apart is the fear of secrecy, right? So I believe you should talk to her, and tell her you don't want any secrets between you. Do it in a place that's private, like your room or something, and make sure there's no distractions so you both can just talk without the fear of someone interfering. I can tell that's what Meg wants too.'
'How can you tell?'
'I just know. It's in her eyes. She wants to talk to you, but she also wants you to be ready to talk back. I'm guessing she knows you well enough to know you hate being rushed into things, especially if it's to do with your emotions.' She explained. 'She's ready, but you have to show her that you're ready too. Does that make sense?'
I was silent for a moment, processing what she had said carefully before nodding. 'Yeah... Yeah it does! All this time I was waiting for her to open up, when I was the one who had to open up! Oh man, emotions are confusing...'
'Yup, I know. Welcome to life~' Ashley chirped. 'So you think you can do it? Talk about your emotions I mean.'
'I think so, because it's her.' I replied.
'Well then,' The woman grinned, standing up from the table 'I think that concludes our little 'therapy session'. Wish I could stay and chat but I gotta pick Emilee up from her play date soon.'
'Ashe?' I called.
'Hmm? Yea?'
'Just one question. If you're engaged to Matthew, does that mean you've seen what he looks like under the mask?'
'That I have.'
'Out of curiousity, what does he look like?'
Ashley turned to me with a mischievous grin, before tapping her nose as if to say 'it's a secret' and walking off. I huffed in annoyance.
'Damn that dude and his secret identity... Well whatever.' I then looked over to my laptop, which was still shut. With a sigh I pulled it toward me and opened the lid, before clicking onto the file named 'M.S.C.O'.
(Megan POV)
'That... was a total bust.' I complained, stretching my arms above my head as I walked down the path with Prince 'I mean yeah it was a good road trip and all, but Solgaleo and Lunala didn't even show up so... what was the point?'
'They have responsibilities, Megs. It's hard to take care of Alola and visit your friends, ya know.' Prince stated calmly, I frowned.
'I guess you're right...' I then smirked 'How come you weren't this reasonable as an Eevee, hmm?'
An irk mark appeared on the dark type's forehead. 'I. Was. A. Child. Were you responsible as a kid?'
I was silent, staring at the ground with a sheepish smile. 'Um...'
'That's a no.'
'Shut up Princey...'
A snort came from Prince's throat as we came up to Aether Paradise. I looked up to the sky to find the sun was close to setting. 'How long do you think we were out?'
'Hmm? Oh, I'd say about... two hours minimum?'
I groaned, because I knew this meant extra paperwork for me tomorrow. Oh well...
Finally we made it to the door to the house. I jabbed the key into the keyhole and turned it (I tried to make that sound not wrong), unlocking the house so I could enter. Closing the door behind me I let out a deep sigh, before ruffling my hair and making my way upstairs to my room. As I entered I noticed it was dark, meaning Gladion probably hadn't crashed from work yet since he had a tendency to leave lights on. I closed the door behind me and felt around for the lightswitch, flicking it on as soon as it brushed against my fingers.
'Honey, I'm home...' I yawned, before kicking off my shoes and collapsing onto the bed. I grabbed one of the pillows and hugged it close to my chest, groaning softly into it 'It's been a long day...'
'You mean apart from having to take care of six paranoid Pokemon, going out to buy ingredients with Lillie, Lillie ditching you for her (potential) boyfriend, having an awkward conversation with flower boy, traveling all the way to the altar and finding out the legendaries aren't even there and realising you'll have a butt load of paperwork tomorrow?'
'Prince! Not helping!' I snapped, throwing the pillow at him which he dodged with ease.
'I'm supposed to be your Pokemon, not your therapist.'
'Megan?' a voice called from outside the room, and a familiar blonde walked in with a confused expression 'Who are you talking to?'
I shot up to sitting position, pointing to Prince with a pout 'This sassy pants!' this earned a snort from the dark type.
'Ah, I see. He's teasing you again, huh?'
'Obviously...'
Gladion shook his head playfully as he crossed his arms and leaned against the doorframe. 'So how was the altar?'
I groaned, bringing my head back as I complained 'Solgaleo and Lunala didn't show up, so I basically travelled up there and back down for nothing... Also my feet hurt now so lose lose...'
'Yikes...' Gladion exhaled.
'I know right?' I chuckled sarcastically, before bringing my head up again to meet the boy's emerald eyes 'So.... What're you doing here?'
He raised an eyebrow 'Um, this is my room?'
'I know, I know, it's just that... you haven't really come in here these past couple of days.' I said, rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly 'You've kinda been sleeping in the office. So suddenly seeing you here was a little surprising.'
'Oh... right.' he muttered as his eyes traveled to the ground 'I thought you'd feel a bit uncomfortable if we slept together.'
I raised an eyebrow.
'Okay fine, I thought I'd feel uncomfortable.'
'Yup, I figured.' I frowned, pausing for a bit until asking the question: 'Are you still mad at me?'
Gladion's eyes widened 'What? No! Meg!' he said as he walked over and sat down next to me, before resting a hand on my shoulder 'I'm not mad. I just needed some time to process... you know what. It's a big thing, you know.'
I averted my gaze 'Again, I figured.'
'But that's why I'm here now.'
'Huh?'
'I feel like we've spent enough time apart. I feel like it's time to come to terms with the situation.'
My head shot up, and we made extended eye contact for the first time in weeks. The smallest of smiles graced my lips 'No joke?'
'No joke' he confirmed with a nod, before shuffling position so he was facing me with his legs crossed. 'Let's talk.'
I did the same action as I faced him, sticking my hand out for him to shake. 'Alright then. Hello, I'm Megan. Last born child of the Artemus's.'
(Laura POV)
Luke and I walked in silence on route 5, neither of us knowing how to start a conversation. The only thing keeping us from total silence was the tall grass swaying in the wind, the distant cries of wild Pokemon and the occasional heavy sighs coming from my brother. I rubbed my upper arm in discomfort.
'It's really bothering you, isn't it?' Luke stated.
'What?' I eyed him suspiciously.
'You've been rubbing the spot Megan bit for days now. So it must be bothering you.'
I clicked my tongue, turning my head away from him. 'No, it's not. I'm fine.'
I could tell Luke wanted to argue, but instead he just sighed and continued to walk. I followed behind him, staring at his back for no reason in particular.
Suddenly we heard a loud 'moo' coming from behind us, causing us to turn around swiftly. We noticed a large cloud of dust, which was being caused by a figure charging towards us. A Touros. Luke and I gasped and went to run, but paused as the sound of hooves stopped. Touros was standing right there, staring at us with curiosity.
'Um, hi?' I raised an eyebrow, causing Touros to snort and tilt its head. Luke skeptically took a step forward, and gently put out his hand for the Pokemon to sniff. It did so, before letting out another moo and swishing its tails around happily. Luke took this as a sign and patted its nose.
'Well, it seems friendly.' he smiled towards me.
'Yeah I guess so...' I shrugged.
Soon another Pokemon jumped out of the bushes and walked up to us, stopping next to Touros and staring at Luke and I.
'A... Medicham?' I murmured.
Medicham was silent for a moment, before raising its arm towards me and my brother. We suddenly couldn't move.
'What the f*ck?!' I yelled, trying to break from my invisible binds.
'Its using psychic!' Luke strained.
'That's right.' a feminine voice said from the left of us, making us turn our heads. There stood two people. A man and a woman, who were both wearing lab coats. The man was pretty buff, with tanned skin, dark brown hair and piercing black eyes. And he wore a smirk on his face. The woman was slender, and shorter than the male. Her skin was also tanned, with cotton candy pink hair tied up in a bun, midnight blue eyes, and a pink diamond shape on her forehead. She stared at us with a neutral expression and had her arms crossed.
'Who the hell are you people?' I growled.
The man shrugged, still smirking at us. 'Oh no one. Just your kidnappers.'
'Our what?!'
Luke and I began struggling again, causing the man to laugh. The woman sighed as she began walking forward, only to stop right in front of us. 'We apologize, but you are crucial to our plans.'
'Plans? Plans for what?!' Luke yelled.
'That's not important. Medicham, if you'd please.'
Medicham lifted its other arm, which somehow made mine and my brother's go behind our backs, making us wince in pain.
'Now, Taurus.' The woman turned to the man, giving him a slight nod before going up behind me. Taurus did the same to Luke, and before we knew it our hands were being tied. The psychic seemed to wear off, causing me and Luke to struggle against the ropes and our captors' tight holds.
'Let us go!' I yelled.
'No can do.' the man, Taurus responded. 'I'd say give up now to save your breath.'
'Nope! Not gonna happen! Luke, let's transfor-'
'Medicham use Hypnosis.' the woman commanded, and soon after I began to grow drowsy. I collapsed, but the woman caught me. I saw the same thing happened to Luke through my blurry vision, except Taurus had slung him over his shoulder.
'Good thinking, Libra.' I heard him say, before everything went black.
No...
A/N: Slightly shorter chapter today. Sorry about that.
