Prologue
The Cold War is in full swing and it is beginning to look like nuclear war is inevitable and oncoming like a freight train that you can see the light of when you are halfway through the tunnel. The United States military and NATO are pulling out all the stops, preparing for what every analysis shows is the prelude to World War Three and global thermonuclear warfare.
Activated in 1984, 2/19th Special Weapons Group is placed square in the Fulda Gap, with the primary mission of manning the Forward Storage and Transport Sites that are made up of bunkers, each full of tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions of tons of ammunition intended to allow the US military to fight the Soviet Union.
2/19th Special Weapons Group has been consistently led by the incompetent, abusive, and/or psychopathic. From the Commanding Officer to even the Squad Leaders, leadership in 2/19th was characterized by hostility toward their own troops.
Recently the analysis by intelligence agencies has pointed toward something major happening in the Soviet Union. Massive upheavals in the Soviet government have led many to believe that the USSR will have no choice but to go to war against NATO if they wish to keep control.
With the Berlin Wall down, East Germany is collapsing and everything is coming apart at the seems.
Colonel John Henry (No Relation) has decided to take half of Third Platoon's squad leaders and send them in for much needed leadership training at Blackbriar Ridge Training Area. While this represents a strategic risk, Colonel Henry believes that sending his subordinates for training will reap more rewards if their training can take place before World War Three starts.
After careful deliberation, Colonel John Henry has decided to have the members who have been in the unit the longest, suffered the most, and been in the most dire situations attend training, reasoning that perhaps giving them time away from 2/19th will increase their retention.
To that end he also hopes that removing common elements will allow 2/19th to survive a winter up on Alfenwehr without the massive loss of life that normally accompanies such an endeavor.
The group going under the nomenclature Echo-Five-Actual is the common denominator.
By sending them back to CONUS he hopes that whatever force dwells on Alfenwehr will not be drawn into destroying his unit.
An excellent plan, one with a chance of working.
But for Actual, things are never that easy.
And things are in motion to test Actual in their first mass deployment.
Author's Note: This one contains more mature topics than some books. More detailed sex scenes, more graphic violence (including torture). Read at your own risk.
