The other day I posted a chapter in Marrow Charm called Patreon with a brief explanation/ promotion of Patreon. When I talk about it to most people, I get the same reaction as when I talk about Wattpad to friends and family.

'Oh, that sounds nice. What the heck is it?'

Patreon is a website for creators. It asks for people to become their patrons, to offer a contribution to their creative arts, either on a project to project basis or monthly donation. That donation starts from a dollar upward. A dollar a month. The idea is to gain many patrons. This is an old idea in a modern age.  

And it is a hopeful idea for someone like me who has a tricky household situation and difficulty meeting monthly expenses.  What am I doing when not writing? I am child care for my two boys, I am the housekeeper, I do odd jobs to help bring in anything. In between all of that, I sneak in whatever writing time I can. I stay up late. I get up early. It takes me days to write a chapter like this but I keep going because I love it. I love to create. Through Patreon, I hope to supplement our household income enough that we are not hanging on by my fingernails every month.  

Donating also comes with perks! Each tier of sponsorship offers rewards like sneak peeks to upcoming chapters, news, story postcards etc. There are already snippets up for upcoming chapters for Edgewise and Happy Little Accidents. 

So what are my current goals for Patreon?

1. To up my production speed to 1 to 2 chapters a week. 
2. To finish Edgewise by the end of August (fingers crossed on that one)
3. To finish Blood Magic by the end of this year
4. To finish Happy Little Accidents by September, hire an editor, publish the sequel by the end of 2017.
5. To continue providing more fantastical stories for my readers
