Pandemic Life

2020 has felt like a decade wrapped into six months. I'm not alone in feeling this. It has deeply affected every aspect of my life. Having to navigate the ins and outs of pandemic life while struggling to get too non neuro-typical kiddos through remote learning has been the greatest challenge of my life to date.

I've been emotionally, mentally, and physically drained for months. Not the best writing environment, and one of the reasons I had to let go of some of the programs and projects I was working on for the sake of mental health.

Now, here we are in September, trying to field a new school year that has already met with mixed results. It's been an exercise in frustration as my boys stutter start their new schedules. I've managed to get one going while the other is still stuck. We are in survival mode until the beginning of next week. This is doubly stressful juggling editing stages for three books.

This year is going to end on a high note if it kills me. Which it might.

It hasn't been all bad. Despite the pandemic, I wrote and edited the sequel to Marrow Charm. Skin Curse drops this November.

Marrow Charm snagged a couple of awards this year, winning Best Fantasy in November at American Book Fest Best Book Awards and the gold medal for Young Adult Fantasy (General) at Readers' Favorite Annual Book Awards. It's currently a semi finalist in another contest and I think I have a problem because I keep entering contests x_x

I signed Impression of Teeth in a four book series deal to City Owl Press. Currently knee in edits and excited to share my murderous cinnamon rolls with you all.

I've rehomed and revamped Ragnarok Unwound and finally got a series plan set up with release dates.

I miss writing on the Wattpad and hope to be on here regularly again soon. I will be working on finishing Cursed, Charmed, & Uninsured before I move on to much else. Possibly tackling some of my other back logged books for more updates.

I've gotten a new job as the Blog Maven at Sword & Silk books and I am damn proud of the gig. It's been a wholly different challenge to my professional and creative skills and I've enjoyed every minute. This, along with secret gig 2, have filled my extra day hours. I don't regret it, but I definitely feel 'busy'.

There is more news to come but this was a general 'I'm alive' flag and that I'm still here, still working until my fingers cramp. I hope to be here more soon.
