Chapter 8

Angelina's Point of View:

I was having one of those lazy morning moments. I woke up around ten and it was ten thirty now but I was still in bed. I’m actually too lazy to go out of bed. But I know I should get up eventually so I stretched and yawned before getting out of bed. I walked into my bathroom, washed my face and brushed my teeth.

My red tank top and my black shorts were crumpled but I didn’t change. I tied my hair up in a messy bun and opened my bedroom door. Drew was at the top of the staircase at the end of the hallways and when he heard my door open, he stopped and turned around. When he saw me he smiled and I grinned back. When I got to where he was standing, he pointed a hand to the staircase that lead to the third floor and asked, “What is up there?”

My hands twitched at the thought but I ignored it.

“Music room and a couple of other rooms that have stuff we don’t use,” I answered as I started walking downstairs with him.

“You have a music room?” he asked, a bit surprised. People usually have a guitar or a piano in their house but not a whole music room! And it was freaking huge.

“Yeah,” I shrugged “My mom loved music so she and dad bought a lot of instruments and made the music room.”

“That is so awesome,” Drew said and I smiled.

“So what shall we have for breakfast today?” I asked when we got to the kitchen. Liam and Lee were still in their room but they were awake because I heard some shuffling on my way down so they will probably come here soon.

“Pop tarts!” Drew said, sounding like a five year old and I chuckled.

“Okay,” I agreed as I prepared breakfast for the brothers and I. I have to go grocery shopping, I thought. I usually don’t go grocery shopping very often because I live alone but now I have three other guys to feed so we’re running out of food.

As if on cue, Lee and Liam entered the kitchen as I put the plates on the table.

“Yum!” Liam exclaimed before jumping in a chair and eating his breakfast. I rolled my eyes at him. He sure loved food a lot.

“I did a little research and I found our plans for today,” Drew said and I raised my eyebrows at him. Research?

“We’re going horseback riding,” he stated and I looked at him, horrified. Lee and Liam were excited but I definitely wasn’t. I have never been horseback riding before and I’m not sure if I wanted to.

“I have never been horseback riding,” I finally blurted out, hoping that they would change the plans.

“That makes it much better,” Drew grinned widely “And according to my research, the place is only twenty minutes away from here.”

“But what if I fall?” I asked. That was my main fear: Falling off the horse. I kind of like watching people riding horses but I never thought I could do it. I’m not scared of the horses, on the contrary, I think they are beautiful but I’m just afraid of getting hurt.

“I’ll be there to catch you,” Drew winked and I rolled my eyes at him “And I’ll teach you if you want.”

“Aren’t there special people to do that?” I questioned, raising an eyebrow at him.

“True… But I have been doing it ever since I was five so I can teach you,” he answered, proudly.

“Five?” I asked a bit shocked. Wasn’t he afraid of the horse? That means he’s really good.

Lee was the one to answer now. “We all know how to ride but Drew is the best because it’s his favorite hobby. He used to spend a lot of time horseback riding.”

Drew nodded and said, “Yep, so you can count on me.”

“Cool,” I said amazed “I never even thought about trying horseback riding.”

“You will today,” Drew smirked and I won’t deny it, I was excited.

What to wear, what to wear. Finally after a debate for fifteen minutes, I decided to wear something comfortable. I opened my closet and searched for the pair of jeans I was looking for. I grinned when I found them. They were my most comfortable pair of blue jeans.

I put them on then I put on a bright red T-shirt that was the same color as my red Tommy Hilfiger shoes.  I didn’t even bother with makeup. I just combed my hair and grabbed a hair tie just in case I needed one.

Someone knocked on my door and I opened it to find the three brothers standing in front of my door.

“Shall we go?” Drew asked and I nodded. We walked outside and I made sure to lock the door behind me. I remember when I was a kid, my mom always used to say, ‘lock the door when you leave ‘cause you never know what happens.’ That was one of the many sentences she said that I memorized.

Twenty minutes later, we were standing in a huge field where I could see the stables on the other side. A guy in his mid-thirties greeted us and then he led us to where the horses were. I watched in awe at all the beautiful horses there. There were more than fifteen horses. The one that caught my attention the most was a white horse that was standing proudly.

“This is Snowflake,” the guy said when he noticed me staring at the white horse “She’s our eldest and prettiest.”

“She is definitely pretty,” I said, still awestruck, as the guy patted her neck and she let out a satisfied noise.

I did what he was doing and Snowflake looked at me before letting out another satisfied sound.

“She likes ya,” the guy said and I smiled. Before I could say anything else, Drew told the guy that he wanted to ride Snowflake.

Of course, he made sure that Drew knew how to ride a horse before allowing him to take Snowflake.

“Hop on,” Drew said and I gawked at him.

“How the hell do I hop on?!” Snowflake was as big as me.

He frowned slightly as he looked at me then at the horse. He looked so cute with the adorable frown-

No, Angelina, I scolded myself, no more thinking about how cute Drew is.

“Here, I’ll help you,” he offered and I waited for him to hold my hand and push me upwards. I didn’t expect his hands to hold onto my waist and carry me. I let out a surprised squeal as he lifted me easily and placed me on the back of the white horse.

“Don’t do that ever again.” I was still staring at him, wide-eyed. He scared the crap out of me. What if he wasn’t able to carry me? I would’ve fallen!

He rolled his eyes at me and ushered me to move as he climbed easily on the horse and sat in front of me. Sitting at the top of the horse was terrifying. It was moving slightly and I felt that I might fall any second.

I could see Liam and Lee each on a different horse. Liam was on a brown horse and as soon as his horse started galloping, Lee’s black horse followed it.

“Ready?” Drew asked and I didn’t miss the excitement in his voice. He must really like horseback riding.

“N-no,” I said, my voice shaking slightly.

He turned his head so he could look at me and his eyes softened the way they did when he apologized at the beach.

“Don’t worry, I won’t let anything happen to you, I promise,” he said sincerely and I found myself nodding.

He smiled and took my arms, wrapping the around my waist, forcing me to move closer to him. I enjoyed the feel of his muscles under my hands.

“Hold on.” Was all he said and the horse took off. I squeezed him just a bit tighter due to my fright. My heart was pounding in my chest and I was sure he could feel it. A couple of minutes later, I loosened a bit my grip on him and opened my eyes which were squeezed shut. I looked around and my breath caught in my throat at how peaceful it feels. The field was wide and the only sound we could hear was Snowflake’s fast galloping. The wind made my brown hair fly behind me and I took in a deep breath, enjoying the ride.

Drew smells good, I thought when I inhaled his scent but I forced myself to stop thinking about him like that even though it was hard since he was right in front of me.

We rode Snowflake around for a while before we went back to the stables. What I didn’t expect was for me to want the ride to last longer.

What surprised me even more was the question that popped into my head: Did I want it to last longer because I was enjoying horseback riding or because Drew was so close to me?

As soon as Snowflake stopped, Drew hopped off the horse and helped me back down – more like carried me.

I dusted off my jeans and looked up when I heard Drew speak.

“Do you want to try on your own?” He asked.

I paused for a bit, stunned by how beautiful he looked up close. His black hair was windswept and his blue eyes looked so clear just like the sky today. A lopsided smile was on his face and it made him look even more beautiful.

I quickly composed myself before he notices me staring.

“Um yeah, I guess,” I replied uncertainly.

“You can do it,” he encouraged me and I smiled at him. I wasn’t sure if I was able to ride the horse alone.

“Here, take Midnight here, she is the slowest and gentlest.” I turned around and saw the guy from earlier standing next to a midnight black horse.

I suddenly felt stronger and more confident. I nodded my head firmly and walked the short distance to where Midnight was waiting. Drew once again helped me hop on.

“I’ll go next to you,” he told me as he mounted Snowflake once again and I took the time to gaze at him as his muscles flexed.

Our horses started galloping next to each other and I found myself enjoying the ride unlike what I expected.

When we were halfway through the field, I turned my head to look at Drew and he gave me a wink. I just smiled back.

He suddenly reminded me of Prince Charming and his white horse and I cursed myself for even thinking that.

When we all returned the horses to the stable, I had the urge to thank the brothers, especially Drew, because horseback riding was really fun and relaxing.

“Thank you guys,” I said when I climbed into my car “I really enjoyed it.”

They all grinned widely and Drew had to say, “I told you that you would.” He then shot me a cocky grin and I rolled my eyes, not being able to keep the smile off my face.

“Put on your seatbelts,” I ordered them and they complied.

I turned on the radio, rolled down the windows, and started driving. I suddenly remembered that I had to go grocery shopping.

“Do you guys mind if we go grocery shopping before heading home?” I asked them just to make sure they were okay with it, and they were.

I parked in Walmart and we all went out of the car. I thought of the things I wanted to buy and made a mental list of them.

We were buying cornflakes when Liam and I started fighting. I wanted Cheerios but Liam wanted Cocoa Puffs.

He then pouted like a five year old while holding the box of cornflakes he wanted. I couldn’t say no to that face but I’m not giving up the Cheerios either.

“Fine,” I finally said “We’ll buy them both.”

He grinned happily and I heard the other two brothers mutter ‘finally’. I simply ignore them and took the two boxes of cornflakes.

I spun around to go to the isle where the milk was and a scowl immediately arose on my face when I saw her.

Hailey is a year older than me and we go to the same school. I’ve heard, actually I’ve seen, that she is a... Let me describe her and you’ll figure it out on your own. She was wearing a dress that barely reached the top of her thighs and the neckline was so low that I could see her bra. Her face was like a clown’s face due to all the makeup she has on and a fake smile was on her face.

“Hailey,” I said blankly and turned around to leave. I will take the long way to the milk isle.

“Angelina,” she said with her annoying high-pitched voice “Aren’t you going to introduce me to your friends?”

I knew it. Whenever she sees boys, she will practically run to them. I wasn’t a rude person so I forced myself to turn back around to face her. I plastered a fake smile on my face before speaking again.

“Hailey, this is Andrew, William, and Riley,” I said while pointing at the brothers who were now standing next to me “Guys this is Hailey, a girl at my school.”

“Hey,” she purred and I almost shuddered at how disgusting her so called ‘sexy’ voice sounded.

“Hi,” Drew said, sending her a wink and a sexy smile. I suddenly felt really mad. I’m sure it’s because of Hailey’s presence. She has always been annoying.

She giggled and bit her lip – a gesture which was supposed to look hot.

Gritting my teeth, I turned around and stalked off to the milk isle, not wanting to see them flirt anymore. It’s really annoying.

The milk was the last item on my list so I grabbed a bottle, paid for everything, and stormed out of Walmart.

I put all the grocery bags in my car and opened the door with much more force than needed. I took a few deep breaths when I was seated in my car and looked back at my actions. I probably seemed very rude. As soon as this thought came to my mind, the doors of my car opened and the Turner brothers came in.

This time, they put on their seat belts without me asking.

“I’m sorry, I probably looked rude,” I apologized “I-I didn’t mean to.”

“You don’t like her, do you?” Drew asked and I shook my head.

“Too fake,” I muttered under my breath.

“It’s okay Lina,” Liam smiled at me and I smiled back before starting the car and driving back home. What was annoying me the most? It was the little voice in my head that kept on saying that I was jealous because Drew flirted with her.
