Chapter 4

Angelina's Point of View:

“You’re so lucky!” Tia squealed as soon as we got to the kitchen, away from the three brothers. “They are so hot!”

Mia and I just rolled our eyes at her and I took out the box of cookies and bags of chips.

“Andrew is like the hottest guy I have ever seen!” She said dreamily.

I’ll admit it to myself, he is not bad.

Ah who am I kidding? He is really the hottest guy I have ever seen and that’s a lot to say. But of course I won’t admit that to anyone especially not him.

“He’s a jerk.” That was true.

 Just imagine a guy as hot as Drew but with a good personality as well… Hmmm I’m sure he doesn’t exist because he’ll have to be perfect and nobody’s perfect.

“A hot jerk,” Tia corrected and I rolled my eyes once again.

“I’m gonna go see what they want to drink,” I said as I started walking out of the kitchen. But I was stopped by the blonde twin, Tia.

“I’ll go ask them!” She insisted and I just shrugged and went back to preparing the bowls of chips.

She beamed, flipped her hair, and put on her flirty smile.

I shook my head and laughed at her as she swayed her hips more than necessary on her way out.

Mia helped me prepare the snacks and glasses for our drinks. A couple of minutes later, Tia came back with her cheeks slightly red.

“William and Andrew want coke and Riley juice,” Tia said quickly and I nodded.

“Oh my gosh guess what?” she said, fanning herself dramatically.

“What?” Mia asked.

“Andrew just told me that I look like a star shining at night,” she sighed happily and Mia raised an eyebrow at her as I snorted.

“I hate pickup lines,” Mia said in a repulsive tone.

“True,” I nodded. Tia can be such a silly girl sometimes.

Tia rolled her eyes now.

The girls and I took the stuff to the T.V room and set them on the table. They were all drinking Coke except for Lee and I.

“You don’t like Coke either?” I asked Lee as I filled his cup with juice.

“Nope,” he wrinkled his nose in disgust.

“I know,” I agreed “I mean it’s black! And the acid burns.”

Lee nodded and Drew snorted. My head whipped in his direction and I narrowed my eyes at him.

“Do you drink alcohol?” he asked “Because it burns much more than Coke.”

I made a gagging noise and shook my head, “No. Alcohol is disgusting.”

 “You don’t drink?” Drew asked incredulously at the same time as Lee said “Amen to that!”

I high-fived Lee and we both grinned.

“Angelina is always the one who takes us home safely after the parties since she never drinks,” Tia explained.

A smirk started forming on his lips and I prepared myself for his snide comment.

“So you’re a goody-two-shoes, Angel,” he said.

The twins’ concerned gazes quickly turned to me when they heard him call me Angel. Everyone knows not to call me that. They don’t know the reason though. No one does.

“Do not call me Angel,” I growled at him. He looked taken aback slightly but he managed to smirk.

“Why? Do you find it annoying?” he teased me. I felt a lump in my throat and my heart clenched uncomfortably.

“I find you annoying!” I snapped before storming out of the T.V room. I slammed the bathroom door behind me.

I stood above the sink and took a few deep breaths willing the scenes of the past in my mind to go away. Why now? I knew if he kept on calling me Angel I would break down at some point.

I splashed water on my face then a thought came to my mind. That’s it.

I’m going to make this a challenge. I know that Drew will not stop calling me Angel so I will set a challenge for myself. I will try my best not to remember that day whenever he calls me Angel. Maybe this will help me get over it and maybe move on. That way I will not flinch every time I hear the word ‘Angel’.

I nodded to myself, determined to get this challenge.

I dried my face, took a deep breath, and opened the bathroom door.  

I walked back to the T.V room with a new challenge in mind. As soon as I entered the room, the three brothers were giving me confused and curious looks whereas the twins were giving me worried looks.

I gave them a reassuring smile but they looked skeptical. I sat back in my seat which was between Lee and Drew.

“Sorry about that,” I mumbled, dropping my gaze.

I could feel Drew’s gaze burning a hole in the side of my head but I willed myself not to look up.

Suddenly, Lee’s hand moved and he grabbed my tiny hand. He gave it a comforting squeeze and I smiled at him and gave his hand a small squeeze.

I have a feeling that Lee will play the role of the brother I never had.

My gaze fell on the plate of chocolate chip cookies. There was one cookie that stood out because it was on top and it had many chocolate chips in it. Just by looking at it, I felt my mouth water.

“Damn that cookie looks delicious!” I said suddenly and grabbed it from the plate.

Everyone burst out laughing at the sudden change of mood as I munched on my cookie.

Drew ruffled my hair just to annoy me, I’m sure. But what he doesn’t know is that I’m not like all the girls who get mad when someone ruffles their hair. I don’t care, actually.

I didn’t even spare him a glance. My cookie was far more important.

He raised his eyebrows expectantly. He was waiting for my response but I didn’t have any.

“She doesn’t get mad when people do that to her,” Mia helped and his eyes widened slightly in surprise.

“But all girls do.” Pff how lame.

I rolled my eyes, “Not me.”

“Then you’re not a girl,” he concluded, confidently.

I stared at him in the eyes and said in a mysterious tone, “Maybe I’m not.”

He rolled his eyes at me this time.

“Haha,” he replied sarcastically.

I simply ignored him as I kept on taking bites of my cookie. Suddenly, Liam’s face was so close to mine, making my eyes widened. Then he did something that made me both mad and surprised. He took a rather huge bite from my cookie.

I growled at him, “Don’t eat my food!”

He stopped chewing for a second and gave me a smirk. Then he swallowed and spoke,

“Sorry,” he said unconvincingly.

“I’ll give you a bit of mine,” Drew offered and waved his cookie in front of my face. My eyes followed one particular delicious looking chocolate chip in it. Hmm tempting.

“Give it!” I finally decided to take a bite.

He smirked and moved the cookie closer to my mouth. I opened my mouth and took a bite. I made a satisfied sound when the chocolate chip I wanted was in my mouth.

I heard Mia chuckle, “You just can’t resist the chocolate chip, can you?”

I narrowed my eyes at her when everyone started laughing at me.

I noticed Lee kept on sending Mia sideway glances. When his eyes met mine for a second, I gave him a smirk and wagged my eyebrows suggestively.

He blushed adorably and dropped his gaze. Aww.

Mia was oblivious to the glances he kept shooting her way.

Suddenly an idea came to my mind. I smiled evilly to myself. Drew gave me a weird look and I rolled my eyes at him.

“Miaaaa” I whined “Please can you get the box of game ideas.”’

“Why don’t you get it?” She asked, raising her eyebrow at me.

I was lying lazily on the couch so I patted my full stomach and said, “I ate so much. I can’t moveeee.”

She rolled her eyes at me before standing up.

“Where is it?” She sighed.

“In my room, the top closet.” I answered.

When she was about to leave the T.V room, I spoke again,

“But you probably won’t be able to reach it. Lee why don’t you go give her a hand?” I smiled cheekily at the now blushing Lee. He shot me a dirty look before leaving the room with Mia.

They would make such a cute couple.

“Did you do that on purpose?” Tia narrowed her eyes skeptically and I just winked at her.

“You’re such a good actor but you can’t lie. You’re so weird.” She muttered the last part but I heard it.

“Whatever,” I ignored her.

“What is the box of game ideas?” Liam asked.

“It’s a small box filled with papers and on each paper there is a name of a game and the instructions. Whenever we’re bored, we pick a paper and just play the game,” I explained and his eyes lit up with excitement.

“That is so awesome!” He grinned “Can I pick?”

“Sure,” I shrugged my shoulders.

Mia and Lee came back after a good ten minutes. Mia’s cheeks were pink and Lee was smiling shyly.

I shot them a smirk and they gave me identical scowls. Adorable!

Mia gave me the blue box and I smiled as I remembered the day we made this. It was two summers ago, all my friends were here and we were so bored that we made a list of games and instructions then we put them in a box. We then painted the box blue and wrote on it ‘The Box of Game Ideas’.

“Come on William! Pick one,” Tia said and I opened the box.

Liam picked a paper and gave it to me.

I opened the white paper and read the name out loud, “Mine Field.”

I then read the instruction, “Select an area to play the game. This area is the mine field. Then fill the area with bottles, balls, pillows, pins, etc. as mines. Divide yourselves into pairs. One of every pair should be blindfolded. The blindfolded player has to enter the mine field and cross it without touching any item on the floor. The other player must guide the blindfolded player. The game restarts for a pair if the blindfolded player touches any of the items.”

“Cool,” Tia said “We haven’t played that in a while.”

“Alright so Mia and Lee are a pair, Drew and Ti-”

Drew cut me off, “Angel and I, and finally Liam and Tia.”

I bit my lip and willed myself not to be affected by the nickname.

I glared at Drew and he just smirked.

I sighed and said, “Just move the table to have enough space.”

The guys started moving the furniture and I went to get a few items.

I brought a couple of balls, several empty water bottles, and a few pillows. I then spread them on the ground.

I gave Mia and Lee a blue blindfold, Tia and Liam a red one, and a green one for Drew and I.

“Girls are blindfolded and we’ll guide you,” Liam said.

I reluctantly accepted. That means that I would have to trust Drew. He might make me fall out of the window for all I know.

Liam helped Tia with her blindfold and Lee helped Mia. When Drew made a motion to help me, I stopped him. I don’t need his help.

I tried to put the green blindfold on but it just wouldn’t work. I was about to try again for the fifth time when I felt a pair of big hands over mine, taking the blindfold.

I sighed and reluctantly allowed Drew to tie it for me. I was waiting for a mocking comment but he didn’t say anything. Instead, he gently tied the blindfold. I could feel the heat radiating from his body due to our close proximity. His hands lingered on the back of my head for a while.

“Just trust me and we will win.” His breath tickled my ear and I suppressed a shudder. He pulled away at the sound of Lee’s voice.

“Are you girls ready?” Lee asked and we answered with a ‘yes’.

I have no choice but to trust him.

The guys started screaming like maniacs. Tia and Mia were struggling to hear their voices but I didn’t have a problem with that. I could easily make out Drew’s voice.

“To the right,” he said and I slowly moved my feet the right to avoid whatever item was in my way.

“Keep going, you’re almost there,” Drew said. Mia and Tia both started over twice so I was in the lead.

“Now take one huge step to avoid the pillow and you’ll be there.”

I nodded when I heard Drew’s voice and took a big step forward. I made it. And just as I was about to take off the blindfold, I tripped on my own feet.

I let out a surprised yelp and prepared myself for the fall.

But instead of hitting the floor, strong arms held me in my place. I immediately knew that it was Drew when his hand went to the back of my head and he slowly removed the green blindfold.

My eyes connected with his and for a brief second I saw real emotion in there. Before I could analyze what it was, it was gone.

He shot me a smirked and said, “You had to trip on your own feet.”

I rolled my eyes at him and pulled away from his embrace.

Mia arrived in second place but Tia couldn’t even make it to the finish line. We laughed and her and she just huffed and took the blindfold off when she tripped over a pillow for the tenth time.

“What do the winners get?” Drew asked, wrapping his arm around my shoulders and smiling smugly at the rest.

“We get to eat this,” I said as I lifted up the bag of M&Ms in my hand.

“But of course,” I continued, not allowing Drew to snatch the bag from my hand “We will share.”

“But they didn’t win,” Drew pouted.

“Didn’t your mom teach you not to be selfish,” I tsked him and he sighed.

“Fine,” he huffed and crossed his arms over his chest. He looked like a five year old throwing a tantrum. I giggled at the thought. Drew was about to speak but Liam didn’t let him. He attacked the brown bag and I laughed at him.

Suddenly, Tia’s cell phone started ringing.

“Hey mom,” she said as she shoved a piece of chocolate in her mouth.

“Alright we’re on our way.” She hung up and stood up.

“Come on Mia we should go back home.”

“Why?” Mia asked “What’s up?”

“Uncle Mike is coming over,” Tia replied and Mia smiled. The twins adored their Uncle Mike. I met him a few months ago and let me tell you, he is one awesome dude!

I hugged both girls before they leave and they said their goodbyes to the Turner brothers. I didn’t miss the shy smile Mia gave Lee.

“So Lee,” I said as soon as the girls left “What do you think of Mia?”

I smiled cheekily when I saw him squirm uncomfortably and blush.

“Aww you’re so adorable!” I cooed and pinched his red cheeks.

“Shut up,” he muttered and I just chuckled.

“You two would make such a cute couple,” I said and he blushed a deeper shade of red. Mia is really a great girl and even though I don’t know Lee very much, I think he is perfect for her.
