Chapter 33

Angelina's Point of View:

“Ah!” I screamed and jumped as soon as I entered the house.

“Gotcha,” dad said, laughing at me.

“Dad!” I scolded him “You scared me!”

“That was the whole point behind me hiding and jumping out when you came in,” he said matter-of-factly and I scowled as Drew chuckled.

We had just returned from our date and my dad scared me as soon as we came in. I expected the brothers to be waiting at this time but not my dad. I thought he would be asleep by now. It’s already 11:00p.m and he seemed tired earlier.

I still couldn’t believe that my dad was back and he was smiling at me. As stupid as it sounds, a part of me was waiting for that dream to end but as the time passed, that feeling is slowly fading.

“How was your date princess?” Dad asked.

“It was good,” I replied, smiling at Drew.

“Aw my baby girl’s in love,” Dad cooed and I blushed.

“Dad!” I whined, trying to hide my red face with my hair. I heard Drew snicker and I shot him a glare. He raised his hands in mock surrender, making me roll my eyes.

“Go to sleep princess,” daddy said “We have a long day at the beach tomorrow.”

I nodded my head and kissed his cheek, excited for tomorrow. “Goodnight daddy,” I said as I took Drew’s hand and we started walking upstairs.

“Why is he going with you?” Dad asked and I winced. I can’t say I wasn’t expecting that, but I was just hoping he wouldn’t notice

“He’s um sleeping in my room…” I started “The guest room has only two beds.”

Dad glared at Drew and then he turned to me.

“He’s not sleeping in your room.”

“But dad—” I started but he cut me off.

“No buts. That’s final,” dad said sternly.

I opened my mouth to protest but Drew beat me.

“Okay, sir. I’ll just grab my stuff,” he said and gave me a look that clearly told me to shut up. I grumbled under my breath as I followed him into my room.

“Where are you going to sleep?” I asked him, crossing my arms over my chest as he took out his sweatpants. I wanted him to stay in my room but I wasn’t going to admit that to him. He’ll get way too cocky.

He just smirked, confusing me.

A few minutes later I heard my dad’s footsteps coming upstairs. Drew put a finger above his lips, silencing me. I then heard my dad’s bedroom door click, indicating that it was now closed.

Drew grinned and he closed my bedroom door.

“I’m sleeping here,” he said and my eyes widened slightly.

“Breaking the rules, I see,” I replied.

“I’m such a badass,” he said, smirking at me and I chuckled.

“What if he came in tomorrow morning?” I asked. I wouldn’t want to see my dad beating up my boyfriend.

“I’ll just have to wake up before him,” he said and I nodded. It was much more interesting if we were breaking the rules.

He set his alarm at 9:30a.m so he could sneak out of my room early.

“You know,” he started and I looked up at him “You shouldn’t hide your face when you blush. I like it.”

I narrowed my eyes at him, feeling my cheeks heat up again. That stupid blush.

He chuckled and said, “Exactly. Just like that.”

I playfully punched him and turned around so he couldn’t see my face anymore. I opened my closet and started searching for my pajamas as I waited for my cheeks to go back to normal.

Suddenly, Drew was right behind me. He pressed his body against mine and whispered in my ear, “What did I say about hiding your face?”

I shuddered and cursed my cheeks for remaining red.

He gently pulled my hair back and over my left shoulder. Before I could turn around to look at him, he leaned down at kissed my neck.

His arms encircled my waist as he pulled me closer to him. I tried to get away from his tight grasp but I didn’t succeed. It’s not that I didn’t like that; it’s just that it was impossible for my cheeks to return back to normal with him standing this close to me.

He kissed my neck again, lingering more than the first time.

“Drew,” I tried to sound stern but failed miserably. It sounded more like a moan.

“Mmmm?” he said, still in the same position. I couldn’t reply so I stayed silent.

All of a sudden, he spun me around so I was facing him and crashed his lips onto mine. I think that was our longest – and best – kiss yet.

When we pulled away, his large hand held my face as he looked intently into my eyes. He didn’t need to say any words because his eyes clearly showed all that he was thinking.

I wrapped my hands around his torso and rested my head on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat. He held me closer to him and played with my hair.

“Let’s go to sleep,” he said after long minutes “You look tired.”

I nodded my head and pulled away from him. I grabbed my cotton shorts and tank top and changed in my bathroom. When I got out, Drew was already in my changed and in my bed.

I turned off the lights and crawled into my bed, next to him, and soon I was asleep.

I woke up the next morning as soon as Drew’s alarm went off even though he tried to stop it without waking me up.

“Morning,” I mumbled sleepily.

“Hey,” he said, smiling at me.

I wrapped my arms around him and cuddled closer to him. I sighed contentedly and closed my eyes again.

“I know you want me to stay but I have to go before your dad wakes up,” Drew said.

“I don’t want you to stay,” I lied, scoffing “You want to stay.”

“Yes, I do, but I can’t,” he answered, kissing me. I kissed him back and he smiled against his lips.

“See ya later,” he said when he pulled away. He winked at me and slowly crept out of my room.

I smiled goofily and fell back asleep.

“Princess,” I heard dad’s voice “Wake up sweetie.”

I groaned and rolled around in my bed. I opened my eyes slowly and smiled at my dad.

“Good morning,” he said.

“What time is it?” I asked, rubbing my eyes.

“Ten thirty,” he replied shortly after glancing at his watch.

I stretched as I sat up in my bed.

“Did you get a good night’s sleep?” He asked.

“Yep,” I answered, yawning.

“Of course you did with Andrew sleeping next to you,” he said with a glint in his eyes and my eyes widened.

“W-what?” I said, baffled.

He smirked at me and stood up. “Get ready and I’ll prepare breakfast.”

I was still shocked so I simply nodded and he left my room.

Damn. How did he find out? Well at least he didn’t seem mad. He was actually amused. That’s a good thing.

I went out of my bed and got dressed in my hot pink bathing suit. I put on my navy blue summer dress above it and went downstairs.

“I smell pancakes,” I said as I walked into the kitchen. All three brothers were already there with my dad.

“Here you go,” my dad said, setting a plate in front of me and I started eating.

“How did your date go?” Liam asked waggling his eyebrows and Lee shot him a warning look. A smile played on my lips as I answered.

“It was amazing,” I said “And I owe you two a thank you as well.”

“No problem!” Lee said “You helped us with our dates so we kind of owed you.”

I grinned at them and continued eating my breakfast.

After breakfast, we started walking to the beach and when we found a perfect spot, we placed all our things there.

The water was almost transparent and the sun was shining on the water. I could hear the sound of the waves mixed with the chatter of the people who were crowing the beach. There were a lot of people sunbathing but there were just as much swimming in the ocean. A few kids were sitting together on the shore, building a sandcastle.

I quickly took off my dress, wanting to go swimming in the inviting water.

“Stop staring,” I hissed at Drew as his blue eyes went up and down my body.

“Sorry, girlfriend. You’re just too hot,” he said, smirking at my now red face.

I felt embarrassed that I was blushing again so I sprinted to the ocean. I knew that he was running after me but I didn’t stop running.

When I reached the water, I slowed down and immediately I felt his arms around my waist. I let out a yelp as he pulled me above the water and spun me around.

“The next time you run away from me, I’m going to tickle you endlessly,” he said mischievously.

“You wouldn’t!” I gasped.

“Oh you know I would,” he smirked at me and I chuckled.

I stood on my tiptoes and pecked his lips.

“Your dad knew that I slept in your room. I have no idea how though,” Drew said.

“When he told me this morning, he was amused, not mad,” I replied, still baffled.

“I know,” Drew nodded “I expected him to beat me up or kick me out but he just smiled as if he knows something I don’t.”

“He’s weird sometimes,” I said. “I like it.”

Drew chuckled and agreed with me.

Suddenly, someone pushed me into the ocean. I barely had time to scream before I fell into the water.

“William Turner I am going to kill you,” I said when I got out of the water. The blond boy flashed me a grin and started swimming away from me. But, unfortunately for him, I was a really fast swimmer. I caught him easily and splashed him with as much water as I could. Lee and Drew then joined us and we laughed and tried to swim away from each other.

Around fifteen minutes later, dad came into the water as well. He carried me on his back and started swimming like he used to do when I was a kid. I giggled and he finally threw me in the water.

After hours of playing in the water, we got hungry so we went out of the ocean to get dried before going to have lunch. I took out my pink towel and dried my body and hair.

“You better stop staring at my girlfriend,” Drew growled and I immediately spun around and saw a teenage guy standing behind me.

“It’s not my fault she’s smoking h—” the guy wasn’t able to finish his sentence because Drew punched him in the face.

“Drew!” I exclaimed and tried to pull him back.

As he was about to punch him again, the guy took a quick step back and looked frightened. He then spun around and in a second he was out of sight.

“What was that?” I hissed at Drew angrily.

His eyes were blazing with anger and his jaw was clenched.

“You did not see how he was starring at you!” Drew yelled.

“He didn’t deserve that punch,” I said sternly “Calm down!”

“I just don’t like guys looking at you like that,” he muttered, running a hand in his wet hair.

“I know,” I said, stroking his face “I don’t like girls starring at you either but I don’t go around punching everyone who looks at you.”

“I would love to see that happening,” he said amusedly and I rolled my eyes at him.

“Aren’t you going to apologize?” I asked crossing my arms above my chest.

“No,” he replied “He saw it coming and I would do it to the next guy who stares at you like that.”

I sighed knowing that there was no use in arguing. He wasn’t going to apologize and even though it was wrong of him to punch that guy, I liked the way he’s protective of me.

I chose the restaurant where we were having lunch today. It was a small restaurant that served delicious food and it wasn’t far away from the beach.

When we were sitting in the restaurant having lunch, my cell phone rang and an unknown number flashed across my screen.

I frowned at my cell phone and answered.

“Hello?” I said.

“Angelina?” I heard her voice and my heart stopped. I glanced at my dad who gave me a questioning look and decided to go outside. I gave him what I hope looked like a smile and walked out of the restaurant.

“Mother,” I said coldly “Where did you get my number?”

How weird is it that the next day after my dad and I went back to normal, she called. But this time, she’s not going to ruin my relationship with him. I don’t need her. She walked away from me when I begged her to stay. She took that decision years ago.

“Oh I miss you, Angel,” she said and I flinched.

I laughed humorlessly. “It’s been eleven years, mom. Why are you calling me?”

“I want to see you dear,” she whispered.

“Why now? Why after eleven years?” I asked angrily.

“I-I realized that I did a mistake the day I left and I want you back in my life,” she said.

“I’m sorry, mom. It’s too late now. I begged you to stay that day! I cried but you didn’t even look back. You walked out of my life without hesitation. I’m not going to have you back in my life eleven years later. Dad and I have a great relationship now and you’re not going to ruin that for us anymore. Goodbye, mom. Have a good life with your boyfriend.”

She stayed quiet because she knew I was right. I hung up and wiped my tears away angrily. She doesn’t deserve those tears! It was all her fault in the first place.

She didn’t call back so that means she didn’t really care that much. If she did she would’ve called again! She would’ve come to visit me! She would’ve asked someone about me! A wry smile spread across my lips. Why would I even think that she might still care?

“Hey come here,” I looked up and saw Drew standing in front of me. I ran into his open arms and he hugged me tightly.

“You don’t need her,” he said tenderly “You turned out perfectly fine without her.”

“Thanks,” I mumbled when I was finally able to control my emotions.

“Don’t tell dad about this,” I said when I pulled away from the hug to look into his blue eyes.

He nodded understandingly. “Okay, I won’t.”

I didn’t want him to think about her anymore. She hurt him enough and I know he’s still heartbroken.

“Who was that?” dad asked when I sat back in my chair.

“An old friend,” I shrugged as if it wasn’t important and he let it go.

We spent the rest of our days at the beach house happily and without any problems. We were like a family and this week at the beach house was one of the best times of my life and I knew that I would never forget these days and I’ll especially remember the people I spent it with no matter where life takes us.
