Chapter 24

Angelina's Point of View:

Do you know the time when so many emotions and thoughts are running through your head and you can’t decide what to feel?

Yeah that’s exactly what I felt when I heard Drew’s words.

Shock.

Anger.

Pain.

Jealousy.

Confusion.

Hate.

Is it even possible for someone to feel all these at the same time? If there was a color for every emotion, I would be a glowing rainbow right now.

I can honestly say that this was something I didn’t expect. At all. How could that happen? He doesn’t even know anyone!

Seriously, after all that has happened, I’m so sure he could tell that I like him. He can’t be stupid enough not to notice it! And by going on a date with some other girl, he is hurting me more than he can imagine.

I won’t let him see any of my emotions. He will not see what his words have done to me. I tried and failed to stop the billion thoughts from clouding my brain.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and built up enough courage to speak.

“Really?” I asked him, surprised that my voice came out blank. I’m getting better at this.

He frowned slightly before his expression turned happy again. “Yeah!”

I climbed into my car and put on my seatbelt.

“With who?” I turned my head to the right to look at Drew but I found Liam sitting in the passenger’s seat.

Confused, I turned around and saw Drew sitting next to Lee in the back. My frown deepened as I stared at the eldest brother. It was the first time he sits in the back.

“Her name is Nancy. She’s not from here but she’s staying for the summer.”

I giggled and the brothers gave me a questioning look.

“Nancy Drew,” I said and laughed again. This was going great! I felt proud of myself for being able to joke around even though I was hurt.

Liam burst out laughing and Lee chuckled as well. Drew crossed his arms over his chest and muttered something under his breath.

Liam turned on the radio and I didn’t ask any more questions even though I was dying to know more about his date.

I could barely hear Lee’s voice with the music playing and when I looked at him through the rear view mirror, he was glaring at Drew who looked slightly guilty.

What was that about?

Before I could ask them though, Liam started talking.

“What do you think I should get Tia for her birthday?” He asked and I immediately remembered that it was the twins’ birthday in three days, on the 30th of July.

“How about we go to the mall today? You, Lee, and I. We’ll get the gifts together.”

“Okay,” he agreed, smiling.

“You’re leaving me home alone?” Drew asked, feigning hurt.

“You’ll be on your date,” I pointed out.

“Oh,” was his reply.

I blinked in confusion but I didn’t have the time to analyze it because he spoke again.

“But I need your car…” He trailed off.

“You’ll drop us off at the mall and then you’ll go wherever you want,” I said, my voice sounding weird to my own ears.

“Okay,” he said quietly as I pulled into the driveway. We carried the bags to the kitchen and they helped me put the food in their corresponding places.

“At what time is your date?” Lee asked his brother.

“We’re meeting at 6:00,” Drew replied.

“You’ll drop us off at the mall at 5:30 then, right?” Lee said.

“Yep,” I replied as I prepared pasta for lunch.

“I want to eat,” Liam whined.

I rolled my eyes at him but smiled nonetheless. “Lunch will be ready in ten minutes.”

“Yay!” He said happily.

“So what kind of date should I plan for Mia?” Lee asked as he sat on one of the chairs in the kitchen.

“Mia would love a cute romantic date.”

His eyes widened and he gasped. “I have an awesome idea but I don’t know if it’s okay with you…”

“What is it?” I asked, getting excited.

“I could prepare a romantic dinner and we’ll sit in the treehouse.”

“Aww that is so cute!” I said, grinning widely. “I’ll help you with the dinner.”

“Thanks! I’m not a good cook,” he admitted sheepishly.

“We can decorate the treehouse with flowers and I can bake muffins that way both you and Liam will take a few and put candles in them!” I said.

“What would I do without you?” Lee joked, giving me a hug. I laughed and then gave him a smile.

“I think I’ll take Tia to the park,” Liam said.

“Perfect!” I said “She loves the park!”

He grinned and I knew that it was easy for him to prepare the date because he and Tia were so alike!

“Lunch is ready!” I said as I set the plates in front of the brothers. We ate our lunch while discussing and planning the dates with the twins. Drew was quiet most of the time and no matter how much I busied myself with the other two brothers, my thoughts would always drift back to him and his date and I would feel a stab every time.

It’s weird how one person in the world could hurt you that much and make you that mad. I didn’t even know the girl he was going to go out with but I was mad at her. I know I am being unfair but I just can’t stop the feelings I’m getting.

“Let’s watch a movie,” I suggested. At times like that, when life hurts, I watch movies so that I could lose myself in someone else’s life. Movies take me away from reality and put me in a fictional world.

The brothers followed me into the T.V room and I stared at the DVDs trying to decide what to watch. We finally decided to watch ‘Thor’. I watched this with my friends a while back at the movies. We had so much fun that day, I recalled, smiling slightly.

The movie ended after around two hours and we all went up to our rooms to get ready to go. I put on a pair of skinny jeans and a white floral shirt and matched them with my white converse. I have almost every color of converses. They are my favorite shoes!

I went out of my room just as the brothers went out of theirs. My eyes immediately snapped to Drew who was wearing faded jeans and a blue shirt that made his eyes look even more beautiful than they already were.

When I noticed that I was staring, I quickly spun around and started walking down the stairs. I heard the brothers’ footsteps as they followed me.

I locked the front door and then hopped into the passenger seat of my car as Drew sat in the driver’s seat.

“You’ll bring us back when you’re done, okay?” I said.

“Yes ma’am,” he mock saluted me and I rolled my eyes at his childishness.

He started driving and I gave him direction to get to the mall. The road was simple and he could easily memorize the different routes.

“Here we are,” I said. I haven’t been to the mall in a while. I glanced at Drew and my heart clenched uncomfortably at the thought of being here while he’s on a date with someone else.

I snapped out of my reverie when I heard the back doors open. I turned around quickly and opened my door so that Drew doesn’t notice the pain I’m feeling.

“See ya,” I said hastily and shut the door before he could say anything else. His brothers waved as he pulled out of the parking spot and left.

I sighed quietly before plastering a smile on my face and leading the brothers to the entrance of the huge mall.

“This will look perfect on Mia,” Lee said as he stopped in front of a store.

I turned and stared at the dress behind the glass. It was a short strapless black dress with small shiny stones at the top. It was a bit tight from the top but loose at the end. I imagined Mia wearing it and smiled in approval.

“It will look perfect on her,” I agreed as we walked into the shop to buy the dress. I went shopping with the twins many times so I knew their sizes.

We bought the dress and Lee insisted on buying her shoes too. He got her a beautiful pair of silver sandals and when he thought they were still not enough, he got her a small white teddy bear holding a heart.

I was going to go to their house in the afternoon and give her the gifts with a letter from Lee that says to wear the clothes he got her and meet him at my house for their dinner. I couldn’t help but smile at how romantic Lee was.

We then proceeded to search for the perfect gift for Tia.

“This one!” Liam gasped and pointed at something. I turned around and saw a dark blue skateboard with the letter ‘T’ printed on it in red.

I stared at the skateboard for a while thinking how perfect it was for Tia. Skateboarding is her favorite hobby and I’m so sure she’ll love this!

I raised my hand and high-fived Liam who grinned like a little kid. He bought the skateboard and we went to the food court to have dinner because we were starving.

We bought our food from McDonalds and sat on a random table.

“I have to admit,” I started “I didn’t think you guys knew the twins so well.”

They both grinned at me proudly.

“I’ve got the whole date planned!” Liam said. He ate a huge bite from his burger and swallowed before speaking again.

“I’ll prepare a small lunch and we’ll eat at the park. Then I’ll take her to the skateboard arena to spend the afternoon there and after that we’ll go out to dinner and catch a movie.”

“Wow that sounds awesome!” I said and Lee nodded in agreement.

Liam opened his mouth to talk but my ringtone cut him off. I pulled out my cell phone and frowned when I saw the unknown number flash across my screen. I pressed the answer button and lifted the phone to my ear.

“Hello?”

“Angelina Smith?” A male voice said.

“Yes?” I answered, confused.

“I’m Dr. Parker. Do you know an Andrew Turner?” he asked.

“Yes. Why? Is he okay?” I asked, slightly panicked.

Lee and Liam shot me worried looks as I waited for the doctor to reply. My heart was beating frantically in my chest and my head was swirling with the worst possible scenarios.

“He got into an accident. You should probably come down to the hospital.”
