Chapter 16

Chapter 16

Angelina's Point of View:

“I miss going on picnics,” Liam randomly said when we were watching a rerun of ‘How I Met Your Mother’. I should get used to his random comments. It’s like he says whatever comes to his mind all the time. It gets so funny sometimes.

“Do you remember those times when we used to go with mom and dad to that small forest every summer and have a picnic?” He continued a distant look in his eyes and a smile on his lips.

“Yeah,” Lee said and Drew nodded his head.

“Andrew used to climb this really tall tree and mom would go crazy when she sees him on top of the tree smiling like an idiot,” Lee recalled and all the three brothers laughed.

“You were a monkey?” I asked, smirking.

“You can say that,” he shrugged, grinning.

“He still is,” Lee muttered and I laughed.

“How about we go for a picnic today?” I suddenly asked. “We can go to the park.”

Liam’s face immediately lit up and he grinned.

“Yes!” He squealed as he jumped off the couch with excitement.

I laughed at him and looked at the two other brothers.

“Sure!” Lee smiled and Drew just shrugged.

“Alright then!” I clapped my hands together “I’m gonna go prepare the food.”

“We’ll help,” they insisted and I nodded.

I wasn’t shy around the brothers anymore. I got used to the fact that they are staying here. It’s like we became a real family. They would help me clean the house and cook. At first I used to insist on doing all the work because they were the guests but they never let me. They say that since they are living here now, the least they can do is help me out with this stuff. With time, I figured out that it’s true.

I haven’t had a real close family in a long time and I am so happy that we are that close now. I’m getting to know all the three brothers even more every single day. They always tell me about their childhood and their parents. I got to know who they really are.

I have to admit though, I judged them too fast at first. Sure what I thought at first was true. Liam is childish. Lee is the friendliest. And Drew is a player. But that is not their whole personality. I got to know their flaws and traits.

Liam is childish and funny. He is the kind of person you can never get tired of. He can always turn your frown upside down and never fails to make you laugh. But he also doesn’t take anything seriously. It’s like he doesn’t know how to act mature.

Lee is the person you would want to have as your best friend. You can tell him all your secrets and he’ll definitely be there when you need him. He is also fun to be with and not to mention smart. Lee’s flaw which I have noticed is that he is reckless. He does things without thinking and he reacts faster than any normal person.

Drew is really funny. What I love the most about him – other than his hotness – are his witty comebacks. Even though I will never admit it, I love it when we fight about useless stuff because we are both capable of coming up with the smartest comebacks. He has a mysterious side because he doesn’t talk a lot and his eyes always have some foreign emotions in them. I get angry sometimes because he doesn’t talk but I love a little mystery in a guy. I don’t like his ‘player’ side very much though.

“What food do you want?” I asked when we entered the kitchen.

“Not a lot…” Lee started “We can make a few sandwiches and maybe some cookies or muffins.”

“Alright,” I answered “We can do tuna sandwiches, ham and cheese, and hotdogs.”

“Yum,” Liam grinned widely and his eyes lit up. I laughed at his expression as I started taking out the ingredients we needed.

Drew prepared the hot dogs, Liam prepared the tuna, Lee prepared ham and cheese, and I started working on the cookies and muffins.

It was still 11:00a.m so we had time before lunch. I turned on the oven and waited patiently for the cookies.

“We should pack tonight,” I started excitement clear in my voice “I’ll help you with the stuff you need to take.”

“I’m excited for camping,” Lee admitted.

“Of course you are. Mia’s gonna be there,” Drew teased him and Lee blushed.

I chuckled quietly at him. I’m sure Mia is just as excited.

“We’re gonna have so much fun!” I said. I remembered the past years when my friends and I went camping. It is like the best three days of summer. All the activities we did together flashed in my mind quickly and I smiled.

The brothers and I worked in the kitchen for a while, preparing everything we need for the picnic.

“I’m hungry,” Liam whined.

It was already 1:00p.m and the walk to the park is only five minutes so I decided to change my clothes before we go.

“Let me go change and we’ll go,” I said as I put the final muffin in the picnic basket. He nodded his head and I walked upstairs to my room. I took out a pair of blue skinny jeans and a tight pink shirt. I quickly put on my pink converse instead of my red one and walked back down.

“Let’s go,” I smiled at the brothers. Lee carried the picnic basket and I locked the door behind me. I played with my keys as we walked down the street to the park. I smiled at the butterfly keychain in my hands. It was a big silver butterfly with two tiny diamonds on each side of it. Nate gave it to me on my birthday last year. I remember being so shocked when I saw it. It was so beautiful but I’m sure it was really expensive.

“Earth to Angelina,” I snapped out of my thoughts when I saw Liam wave a hand in front of my face.

I smiled sheepishly at them. “Sorry.”

“What were you thinking?” Drew asked, smirking “You were staring at your keychain and smiling goofily.”

I blushed and ducked my head in embarrassment. I have to keep my reactions to myself.

“I…” I trailed off, letting my hair cover my face.

“You…?” Drew said and I could hear the smirk in his voice.

“I-I was just remembering the day I got that…” I mumbled.

“You’re cute,” Drew laughed and I blushed even more. I think it was the first time the first time he ever calls me cute.

We arrived to the park in a few minutes and we took out all the food and spread them on the blanket we were sitting on under the huge tree.

We started eating the sandwiches while enjoying the summer breeze in the park. I lay my back against the tree as I ate a hotdog sandwich.

“Let’s play that game where we create the life stories of strangers,” I suggested when we started eating desert. They all agreed and we all looked around for the person we would be talking about. Lee and Drew had their backs to the tree and Liam and I sat in front of them but we didn’t have anything to rest our backs on.

“Can I sit in your place? My back hurts,” I whined, giving Drew a pouty face.

“I have a better idea,” he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes that made my stomach clench uncomfortably.

I gave him a skeptical look and he smirked. Suddenly, his hands were on my shoulders and he forcefully pulled me closer to his hard chest.

I let out a surprised squeal when my back landed on his chest.

“Better?” he whispered in my ear and I suppressed a shudder. His legs were on either side of my body and I was sitting in between his legs with my back resting against his hard chest.

My heart was beating frantically in my chest and a blush claimed my cheeks.

“N-no!” I lied and he chuckled lightly.

“I know you’re lying, Angel.”

I flinched involuntarily at the nickname before quickly composing myself.

“You okay?” He asked, concern evident in his voice.

“I’m fine,” I replied quickly, a bit too quickly.

“You know I don’t believe that, right?” he said and I nodded once.

“I won’t force you to say anything,” he said softly “But if you want to talk about it, I’ll listen.”

A smile formed on my lips at his words. It was nothing big but it made butterflies take off in my stomach. But I didn’t want to talk about her now. Today we are going to have fun. The past will not ruin my time today.

“Thanks,” I smiled and he gave me a dazzling smile that showed his dimple and made my heart stop. It should be illegal for him to smile like that.

“If you two are done flirting, I think I found the perfect guy,” Liam’s voice said and I blushed instantly.

“We weren’t—” I started but Drew cut me off.

“Is that jealousy I hear in your voice Willy?”

“No,” Liam scowled at him “And don’t call me Willy!”

I giggled and they all turned to look at me questioningly.

“That’s one cute nickname.” I giggled again and Liam’s frown deepened.

When I was done laughing, I asked them who the guy was and they pointed at a teenage boy sitting alone on one of the benches. He was around fifteen years old. He had red curly hair, pale white skin, and green eyes. His huge glasses covered half of his face and his braces made his smile look a bit weird. He was wearing blue jeans and a short sleeved red shirt with a computer drawn on the top of it.

“He looks like a Marc,” I started.

“Alright so Marc is a typical nerd.” Liam said.

“He doesn’t have many friends.” Drew said.

“Obviously loves technology and comics.” Lee added.

“I think he is rich and lives in a huge house but none of the people at his school know that,” I said thoughtfully.

“He’s probably in love with the most popular girl in the school,” Lee said.

“His parents still treat him like a child,” Liam suggested.

“He is probably going to be the next Steve Jobs,” Drew said.

I laughed at that and nodded in agreement.

The boy abruptly stood up and left the park. I rested my head on Drew’s chest as I enjoyed the fresh air in the park. I could hear his heartbeat where my head was resting and his hands were wrapped around my waist.

It felt so right to be sitting like that. I don’t think he thinks that though. He probably sat like that with many other girls. I didn’t allow myself to think about all these girls he was with.

“We should head back. We need to pack and go to sleep early. There’s a big day ahead of us.” I said.

We walked back home carrying the much lighter picnic basket.

“You guys will need three different pairs of pants, three shirts, pajamas, socks, two different pairs of shoes, underwear, towels, jackets it might get cold at night, toothbrush, and whatever stuff you need to survive in the forest for the next three days,” I told the brothers while sitting on one of the beds in their room.

“What about the sleeping arrangements?” Drew asked.

“Don’t worry about that,” I told them “I’ll get the sleeping bags and the guys usually get the tents.”

“And food?” Liam asked. I rolled my eyes at him. Food is always his priority.

“I bought the food for Friday, the guys for Saturday, and the twins for Sunday.”

“Awesome,” Liam grinned.

“Now,” I said as I stood up from the bed “You guys should go to sleep. We have to leave at 9:00a.m.”

They all groaned. “Why so early?”

“The drive there is an hour and we have to profit from the day, right?” I smiled excitedly.

“It’s gonna be worth it. Trust me.” I grinned.

There was some excitement in their eyes too. Of course they weren’t as excited as I was though.

“Goodnight,” I said.

“Night,” they chorused and I closed their bedroom door slowly and went back to my room.

This weekend is going to be awesome!
