The Town
Kai'sa found herself amused and impressed by the Inn. It seemed like a very peaceful place and she couldn't get over the traditional style of it. She felt incredibly relax just walking around with Grandma and the others.
Grandma: This is the entrance to the baths. The time for the men is from 6 to 7. Girls is from 8 to 9. From 9 to 10 it is open for anyone to use.
Ahri: Don't use it after 9. Got it.
The girls were being shown around by Grandma. Ezreal had disappeared into the kitchen while Jinx went to attend her duties as a maid. Grandma had also promised to introduce everyone to head maid, since she'll be their boss.
Evelynn: This place is very lovely. You must love it here.
Grandma: I do. This is home to me. And for others as well. I hope you will all feel the same during your stay here.
Akali: Are you kidding? This place is already home to me.
Ahri: Besides, we'll all find our own place here. Speaking of which, who is this head maid?
Grandma: Her name is Xayah. She is a very smart girl with a good head on her shoulders. Very pretty, as well. She can be hard at times, but she means well.
Hard at times. Good to know.
Kai'sa made the mental note as the tour continued on. Despite it size, the Inn didn't feel too big. It also didn't feel very cramp. And it smelt like lavender in some parts. Other parts smelt like nature.
She liked it.
They reached the opening to the center courtyard where they spotted two people talking. A girl with dark pink hair and ears sharper than Ahri's. Longer, too.
She wore a beautiful yukata that showed off her figure perfectly and really highlighted her skin.
Kai'sa: Is that Xayah?
Grandma smiled.
Grandma: Yes. That is Xayah.
Ahri: She is beautiful. And she's a Vastaya?
Grandma: Indeed. There is another one in the village. Perhaps he will be here later this afternoon.
Evelynn: Yeah yeah, she's nice. Who's the guy she's talking to?
The girls turned their attention to the young man Xayah was speaking with. He was taller than her and had an extremely handsome smile. He seemed to carry himself with confidence as well.
Akali: Oh. He's cute.
Grandma just smiled innocently.
Grandma: He is quite handsome, isn't he?
Akali: Who is he, Grandma?
Grandma: He's the Inn's maintenance man. He fixes what needs to be fix, paints what needs to be painted, and he helps around the property whenever I need him to. He does just about everything.
Evelynn: Handsome and good with his hands? What's his name?
Grandma just laughed into her sleeve.
Grandma: Why don't I just introduce you girls?
Grandma started walking towards the two.
Xayah: So you got everything that was on the list?
You nodded.
Y/N: And I even got a special present from the shrine. Garen insisted.
Xayah: You ran into him? That explains why Ez looked so beat up earlier.
She then thought of something.
Xayah: Did you happen to see Rakan?
You shook your head.
Y/N: I didn't get to stop by. But he's coming to the dinner tonight.
Xayah: He is?
You noticed her cheeks get a bit pinker which made your smirk. You leaned towards her a bit.
Y/N: Why? You gonna get all dolled up for him?
Xayah swiftly tried to punch your gut. But you've had 6 years to become immune to her attacks. Her fist was instead caught and lifted over her head. You just smiled smugly.
Xayah: Like hell.
She pulled her hand away while you laughed. She crossed her arms and turned away from you.
Xayah: You jerk.
Y/N: I wish you two would stop beating around the bush and go out already. I mean it's pretty clear you both love each other.
Xayah turned back around and began to hit your repeatedly on the shoulder.
Xayah: Shut up, you jerk!
You just took the punches with a smile. Xayah stopped when she heard someone approach you both. You looked over and smiled when you saw Grandma. Though, you didn't recognize the other girls that were with her.
Grandma: Y/N. You're back.
The girls stopped and looked at you.
Ahri: That's Y/N?
Y/N: Yeah. Sorry it took me a while. I stopped by the shrine.
Grandma: I see.
She stepped to the side and gestured to the girls.
Grandma: Well, Xayah, Y/N, these are our new guests. My granddaughter and her friends.
Xayah was the first to step forward with a smile.
Xayah: Hello. My name is Xayah. I'll be the one getting you all adjusted here.
Ahri: Nice to meet you. I'm Ahri. And I have to say, it's very nice to have another vastaya around.
Xayah: Likewise.
Evelynn: I'm Evelynn. Eve if it's easier for you. This is Kai'sa.
Kai'sa: Hello. I like your yukata.
Xayah: Thank you.
Akali: And I'm Akali. The granddaughter. Thank you for taking care of my grandma.
Xayah seemed confused.
Xayah: Taking care of....oh no!
She quickly shook her head.
Xayah: I'm not the one doing the taking care of. Grandma is the head of the house. She's the one who cares for us.
It was true.
The girls then turned to you. You stepped forward. You rested your arm on Xayah's shoulder, leaning on her, and flashed a smile.
Y/N: Hello, ladies. I'm Y/N. I guess I'm supposed to be your tour guide around town.
Wasting no time, Evelynn walked forward and held out her hand.
Evelynn: Nice to meet you. Grandma said that you're the one to fix things around here?
You nodded as you shook her hand.
Y/N: Yes, ma'am.
Evelynn: Good. Cause my heart's been broken and I think you could do something about it.
Xayah was shocked at how upfront she was while you just looked at her with wide eyes. You began to laugh a bit awkwardly as you pulled your hand away.
Y/N: Ah.....right. Okay.
You looked around for a moment before you nodded.
Y/N: I think I forgot something in my room. Let me go grab it and I'll show you girls around town.
You didn't wait for a response. You just left.
The girls watched you walk away while Evelynn just smirked.
Evelynn: Oh, I'm so going to corrupt him.
Grandma: Just don't break him too bad. I still need him for repairs.
Evelynn: No promises.
--------------
Showing the girls around was interesting to say the least. Especially taking into consideration that they were kind of celebrities. They stuck out like a sore thumb for sure. With their fancy clothing and expensive accessories.
You took a look at them over your shoulder.
You weren't quite sure what to make of them yet. They seemed nice. But at the same time, no one comes to this town without a reason.
And no one moves into the Inn without a story.
Even you were once a troubled kid.
You recalled that day perfectly in your mind. And if there was one thing you will never forget, it was the way Grandma smiled at you the first time you met.
Akali: This place looks so different from the last time I was here.
Y/N: When were you here last?
Akali: Uh, 7 or so years ago. When I was 12.
Y/N: Really? Huh. Yeah, I mean, it's changed a lot since I came here a few years ago. But I guess that's why Grandma wanted me to be the one to show you girls around.
Evelynn thought it was for another reason. The same reason she was staring at how well those jeans of yours showed off that nice butt.
Of course, that wasn't all. Working in maintenance and helping around the Inn for 6 years has gotten to some muscle. And, of course, the fact that you regularly worked out with Garen and Rakan.
But you were also surprisingly charming. Your smile seemed to make the others smile as well.
Ahri: Speaking of which, you said you've lived here for 6 years?
You nodded.
Y/N: I was just 16 when I showed up here. Straight outta the juvenile detention center.
The girls stopped. You noticed this and turned around.
Kai'sa: You were in Juvie? What for, if I may ask?
You just shrugged.
Y/N: I got caught stealing tires off of some dude's car. Between that and the fights I used to get in, I was a pretty horrible kid. But, I guess that's why I found a home here.
You started walking again with the girls following.
Kai'sa: What do you mean? How did you end up here at 16?
Y/N: I was caught here. When I got out I had no where else to go so I stayed. Then I met Vi and I guess she decided to take pity on me and introduced me to Grandma. That's kinda how everyone ends up at the Inn.
You looked at them over your shoulder.
Y/N: No one really comes here without a story. And no one moves in without a reason.
Ahri: <Groan>
*Translation: He knows.
You just smiled and faced forward.
Y/N: But that's neither here nor there. Whatever your story is, it's yours to tell. I won't pry. And I'm not telling you this to try and scare you. I just wanted to be honest upfront.
Evelynn: Well, we appreciate it. It's always good who we'll be sharing a home with.
You nodded in agreement.
Y/N: Well, let's get this tour started. Our first stop is brunch! Cause I'm hungry.
***********
Akali: Wow. This place is still here?
You nodded as you sat at the table. It was almost lunch, but not quite. So, brunch it was. You sat next across the table from Kai'sa, Evelynn, and Ahri while Akali sat with one chair separating the two of you.
You decided to take them to Gi'Mees for some food. It doesn't seem like they had a chance to eat either.
Y/N: You couldn't get rid of this place even if you tried. Trust me. People have tried.
Akali: Does Stacy still own it?
You nervously chuckled as you rubbed the back of your neck.
Y/N: Well.....
Rakan: She was arrested last year for Tax Evasion.
The girls suddenly found menus in front of them while Rakan spun his pen around his fingers. He nodded to you before he looked around the table.
Rakan: Welcome. I'm Rakan, your waiter. I'll do my best to give you lovely folk my full attention.
The girls looked around the restaurant to see that it was empty.
Evelynn: Uh....
Rakan: Yeah, the only one who ever comes in here around this time is this guy, so....
You handed him your menu which he took. You always got the same thing so you didn't really need it.
But this is Rakan. Your friend. He used to live at the Inn with all of you before he found an apartment of his own. He was also the apple to Xayah's eye and vice versa. However, their situation was a complicated one.
They loved each other.
They were honest about it.
But they weren't together.
You never really got it, but you understood why Xayah didn't trust relationships. Maybe someday in the future they'll be happy together.
They deserved it.
Akali: Do you two know each other?
Rakan laughed.
Rakan: Know each other? This guy here was my roommate for almost 4 years before I moved out. We still work out every other day.
Y/N: Right. Girls, this is Rakan. He used to work at the Inn. He'll be at the party tonight.
Ahri: Nice to meet you. You must be the other Vastaya Grandma told me about.
Rakan just nodded and gestured to his legs. The girls could see them clearly since he was wearing shorts.
Rakan: It's always nice to meet another. It's rare to have someone like us in town.
Kai'sa: Is there a reason?
Y/N: Not a particular one. Vastaya just like to travel to different places for vacation.
Rakan: But those who do come here are always welcomed.
Rakan nodded to Ahri who blushed a bit. Rakan was always a charmer. Maybe that's why Xayah fell so hard for him.
Rakan: Well, whenever you are ready to order, just scream at the top of your lungs. I might hear you.
He winked and headed back behind the counter to get your drinks.
Akali: He seems cool.
Y/N: He is.
Evelynn: And does he have a story?
You frowned slightly.
He did have a story of his own. But that was his to tell. Though, he's only ever told it once.
But you remembered when you heard it. You always will.
While you and the girls talked, Rakan washed his hands in the back. His eyes were transfixed on the blood that he still saw.
His hands were as clean as they could be.
**********
Kai'sa: I am so stuffed.
You and the girls were now walking through main street as the tour continued. After eating, you paid, despite their protests, and decided to show them some shops.
Being a small town, there were locally owned businesses. Actually, you just did this walk with Ezreal just an hour or so ago.
Ahri: Wow. I'm surpised there's so much business here.
Y/N: The local shops mostly rely on the tourist that come in. But people still need to eat and get groceries. It's a locally created economy.
Kai'sa: Impressive. And the Inn does business with them often?
You nodded. Though, Xayah can tell them about that stuff.
Vi: Well well. Look who it is.
You stopped walking and smiled. The girl suddenly found a larger woman walking towards you. What really caught their eye was the police uniform she wore.
Vi: Staying out of trouble?
You shrugged.
Y/N: Not with your sister around.
Vi made a face before she noticed the girls. She smiled and tipped her hat.
Vi: Hello. You must be the girls Grandma told me about. Welcome to our little village.
Y/N: Ladies, this is Vi. Local policewoman and Jinx's older sister.
The girls looked at the large woman in surpise. This was Jinx's sister? There was no way. She was so.....huge! And Jinx was so small. Like a child.
Ahri: Uh.....hello.
Akali: HOW DO YOU HAVE SO MANY MUSCLES?!
Kai'sa: Kali!
Akali: Sorry.
Vi just chuckled as she slapped your back, knocking some of the air out of you.
Vi: You can thank this fella here. He makes sure I stay on my diets and that I work out regularly.
Though you were a big guy yourself, you looked like a scrawny kid next to her.
Evelynn: Does he? Well, maybe he could do the same for us. I try to keep my figure as much as I can.
Vi just kept slapping your back while you continued to gasp for air.
Ahri: So Jinx is your sister? Did you grow up here?
Vi stopped slapping you, thank god, and sighed. She crossed her arms and shook her head.
Vi: Nah. We were born in the city. I moved here on my own once I graduated. I worked at the In for a few years before I got my job as an officer.
The girls were surpised to hear this. Did everyone work at the Inn at some point?
Vi: After my baby sister got into some trouble, I took her in and got her a job at the Inn. Thankfully, Grandma seems to have gotten rid of some of Jinx's more unpleasant qualities. Bow if only my sister wasn't such a slacker.
Y/N: Hey, Jinx is doing good. She works hard.
Vi didn't seem like she believed you. The girls were unsure about the relationship between the sisters, but you knew it was always rough.
But Vi really did love her sister. And though Jinx will never admit it, she cared for Vi as well.
But the girls wondered what Jinx's story was.
Back at the Inn, Jinx rubbed her wrist which began to scratch. Xayah watched her from across the courtyard.
*************
Y/N: This is the Whiskey Corner.
You stood in front of an entrance that lead into a small plaza. In the plaza was three small buildings with signs.
Ahri: The Whiskey Corner?
Y/N: Yep. This is where the only bars in town are located. It's gets pretty crazy around St. Patrick's Day and New Years. But it's mostly calm. There's no town drunk or anything.
Akali walked through the entrance, only for Evelynn to pick her up by the back of her collar.
Evelynn: No.
Akali: But....
Ahri: No.
Akali: B-But....
Kai'sa: No.
Akali pouted as Evelynn put her back down. You nearly forgot that she was only 19. You just placed a hand on her head which made her tense up.
Y/N: Don't worry. You can have a drink back at the Inn.....
KDA: NOOOOOO!
You out your hands up in defense as the other three marched towards you.
Ahri: Under no circumstance can she be allowed to drink!
Kai'sa: I refuse to deal with that horror again!
Evelynn: If you so much as offer her a sip of anything with alcohol, you will regret it.
She made her point clear by pointing one of her tensils at your neck. The tip barely touched your skin and drew a small drip of blood.
Y/N: Noted.
What the hell happened that they protested this badly? Seriously. Akali seemed harmless.
Kayn: Wow. First day here and you're already trying to kill Y/N.
The five of you looked over to where a boy was setting up a chalkboard sign. He dusted his hands off and headed over.
Kayn: Took us a week before we were scrapping in the courtyard.
You smiled and greeted your friend with a high five while the girls watched.
Y/N: I remember. Grandma grounded us for almost a month after we tore up those yukatas.
Kayn: Yeah. Totally worth it, though.
You threw and arm around him and turned back to the girls.
Y/N: KDA, meet Kayn. Kayn, KDA.
Kayn: A pleasure.
Akali: Yo.
Y/N: Kayn here owns the Shadow Reaper. Or the SR for short.
Akali: Sick name. Sicker ponytail.
Kayn lifted his ponytail and smirked.
Kayn: I like her.
You rolled your eyes.
Evelynn: And let me guess. You worked at the Inn with Y/N?
Kayn: Only for a year or two. I was a detention officer for another year or two and then I started working at the Steol Horse over there.
Kayn pointed to one of the other buildings.
Kayn: Then, after saving up enough, I opened up by own place. Now I lived upstairs with Rakan. Have you met Rakan yet?
Akali: We did.
Kayn: He's a cool dude. He lives in his own space. Turns out, the building was a lot bigger than I thought.
Kai'sa: Your former boss doesn't mind you opening a bar across from theirs?
Kayn: Nah. Rell actually suggested it. Sometimes one place gets so swarmed that there's just no way to take care of everyone. Hell, I would be swarmed if it wasn't for this guy.
The girls looked at you as you shook your head.
Kayn: This dude has bailed me out time and time again despite how much we fought when we were younger. He helps out when I need it.
Ahri: Wait, so you work at the Inn and a bar?
You shrugged.
Y/N: The Inn is a day job, the Bar is more like a shitty hobby.
Kayn just laughed.
Kayn: He does it so he can support his real hobby.
Evelynn: His real hobby?
Kayn: Yeah. You girls have been the Inn already, yeah? Did you see that painting at the entrance?
Ahri recalled it. It was a beautiful piece of the forest. Despite its dark colors, it gave off a warm and safe feeling. She could tell that whoever painted it gave it their all.
Akali: Oh, the one with the trees, right?
Kayn nodded.
Kayn: That piece was done by our local artist here.
The girls looked at you impressed and surpised. You just awkwardly chuckled. You never thought your work was anything special.
Kayn: As a matter of fact, if you see any logo or painting, chances are this guy did it. He definitely made the signs for Whiskey Corner.
The girls looked at the signs that were on the bars. They were all unique in their own way, but still retained a familiar style.
This was all because of you?
Evelynn: A handy man, a bartender, and an artist? You're a busy guy.
Kayn looked at you and winked. He wasn't lying, but he was trying to make you look good.
Y/N: Yeah, well, I'm not the guy who opened his own bar. That would be this fella right here.
Kayn held up his hands and playfully hit your shoulder.
Kayn: Well, I gotta finish getting everything ready. I'll see you all at the dinner later. Nice meeting you all.
Ahri: Likewise!
The girls all waved as Kayn headed back inside. You leaned against the entrance and looked back at the small town you called home.
Kai'sa: He has a story, I presume?
You nodded.
Y/N: Everyone does. Even you.
You kicked off the entrance and smiled.
Y/N: That's about it for this tour. The shrine is up the hill but everyone up there is busy and it's kind of a hike. I can take you there another time.
Kai'sa: Okay. Sounds like a plan.
You nodded.
Y/N: Now, if I may ask, how would you rate this tour?
Ahri: 8.5/10. Not enough cheesy jokes.
Y/N: I'll bring some cheddar next time.
Ahri laughed a bit.
Ahri: Okay. 9/10.
Kai'sa: You get a 7/10 from me. Not enough history.
You shrugged.
Y/N: I don't know much history about this place. Only rumors.
Kai'sa: Fine. 7.5/10 because you're charming.
Y/N: I'll take it!
Evelynn: 9/10. I had a great view the entire time.
You nodded.
Y/N: It is a beautiful town, huh?
Evelynn clicked her tongue.
Evelynn: Yes. The town.
Wait.
Akali: 10/10! Best tour ever! Screw the others, you did great! Plus you gave us food.
You smiled and held out your arm.
Y/N: And for that, I shall escort you back to the Inn personally.
Akali stuck her tongue out at the others and looped her arm around yours. You lead them back down the street as you made small talk.
Inside the bar, Kayn tapped his foot. He should be fine by tonight.
He just needed to calm down.
Everyone here had their own story. That included your friends. And, of course, you. But at the end of the day....
It was just another story.
