Questions

Kai'sa found herself wondering through the Inn during her breaks. She never liked sitting around and doing nothing if she could help it. She was a dancer, she needed to move. Plus she wanted to better familiarize herself with the Inn and the people in it. She was actually shocked to find that the staff was actually limited to a few people. Besides her friends, there really was only two maids, one handyman, and a single cook.

She began to wonder how you were all able to handle operations in your own. Especially you. Maybe that was why you were always so busy? She wishes she had a chance to speak to you but it proved to be difficult. Outside of a casual greeting or a nod of acknowledgement she found it hard to ever find you. Ahri had said that she joined you to SR, but she looked exhausted the next day.

Jinx: Hm?

Kai'sa stopped when she found Jinx sitting in the hallway. She was facing the courtyard with what appeared to be a pokey stick in her mouth. Like Kai'sa, she was wearing a kimono and her hair was tied in braids.

Jinx: What are you doing?

Kai'sa realized she was talking to her and regained her composure.

Kai'sa: I was just walking around. What about you?

Jinx shrugged.

Jinx: Hiding from the boss?

Xayah: Are you now?

The hallway was suddenly filled with a dark aura as a pair of red eyes stared at Jinx. A chill filled the air as Jinx slowly turned around to find Xayah standing there, looking very upset.

Xayah: Why aren't you working?

Jinx gulped. She quickly got to her feet and ran off to do something. The aura vanished and Xayah let out a sigh, shaking her head.

Xayah: That girl, I swear.

She turned her attention to Kai'sa and smiled.

Xayah: You're on your break, right?

Kai'sa quickly nodded. While she could be very kind, Xayah could be absolutely terrifying. The head maid walked over and quickly checked Kai'sa's appearance. After deciding it was okay, she returned her attention on the girl herself.

Xayah: How is everything going? Have you guys gotten accustomed to everything?

Kai'sa didn't know how to answer that. While the intention in coming here was to work on music, none of them were able to really think after the day was over. And getting uses to the facilities proved to be a bit awkward. It was hard to not feel a bit defeated.

Kai'sa: As well as we can be.

Xayah: Yeah, it was like that for a lot of us too. I was a little brat when I came here a few years ago.

Kai'sa suddenly found herself perking up. Xayah had been here for a while, so maybe she could help Kai'sa understand everyone a bit better. She wanted to make everyone feel comfortable after all.

Kai'sa: Actually, about that, do you mind if I asked you about some stuff?

Xayah nervously smiled.

Xayah: Yeah, but that may need to wait until later. I was actually on my way to check in with Y/N.

Kai'sa: Oh. Of course! By all means.

Xayah nodded and started to walk off. Kai'sa watched her for a moment before she sighed. Everyone was busy. She didn't blame her. But, it did raise another opportunity.

Ahri sat in her room and found herself staring intently at her laptop. There wasn't a single thing on it. Her phone held no lyrics. She finally had a day off and yet she made absolutely no progress on any song. Mostly because there wasn't any song.

Quite frankly, she was annoyed and frustrated.

It was like all of her creative juices just vanished the moment the label went under. She was beyond stressed, but it could be a lot worse. They could be homeless with nothing to their names. Money was still coming in from her brand deals, but how long before that was gone to?

She tapped her fingers on the small table she was sitting at. If there was one upside, it would be that this place was usually quiet. She was able to at least breathe and collect her thoughts. At least, she believed so. Her ear twitched when she heard what sounded like music. She looked around before she caught something through her window.

You were in the courtyard checking on the fountain. A small speaker was clipped to your belt loop playing what sounded like hip hop. Seeing that she wasn't doing anything, she decided to pop out and say hi.

You checked the copper piping to see that it was still holding perfectly. Satisfied, you began to slip the wooden rings back over it. By the time you were done you heard the shifting of pebbles behind you. You turned down your music to not disturb the guest, only to find Ahri instead.

You only really got to talk to the girls in situations like this where you just happened to run into them. Xayah was usually running them ragged and you were working in more isolated areas lately. You were so good at your job that everything was pretty much in tip top shape. Curse your magic hands.

Y/N: Yo.

Ahri: Hey. What are you up to?

You rose to your feet and dusted your hands off. You were wearing a shirt and some thick washed jeans. Ahri found herself thinking back on the night at Kayn's and had to forced herself to focus. She was a grown woman. She didn't need to be thirsting for a coworker like this.

Y/N: Just doing my rounds. What about you? How's the music process going?

Ahri groaned which gave you your answer.

Y/N: Sorry to hear that. I get creative blocks sometimes too.

She suddenly remembered that you were an artist too. Not a musical one, but your art wasn't anything to brush off. She had taken the time to examine some of your pieces around the Inn and the town. The attention to detail was amazing and your use of colour was just breathtaking.

But, with her knowledge of the Inn and the people in it, she began to wonder if you were one of the troubled artist types. What was your story? You said everyone had one.

Ahri: Do you now? How do you get over it?

You reached into your pocket and checked the time. It was nearly lunch time, meaning your day would be over soon. Curse these magic hands.

Y/N: I go out. Wanna join?

Rakan: You know, I'll never turn away a beauty, but why are you asking about the Inn?

Kai'sa and Akali sat at the counter of the diner. It wasn't too busy and everyone seemed to be there to really hang out for lunch. No one really had a meal, but it was clear that they felt comfortable here. Akali was sipping on her oreo shake while Kai'sa continued her investigation.

Kai'sa: Well, it's just that we don't really know about anyone there. I think we could work better with them if we had some kind of idea about who they are.

Rakan looked to Akali who just shrugged. It was a really good milkshake. He crossed his arms and gave it some thought before he spoke.

Rakan: I can't go too into detail. It's their personal business.

Kai'sa: Of course! We don't need the whole story. Just, what was everyone like when they first showed up? Or, is there anything we should know?

Akali: Any triggers?

Rakan sighed. He started to lean on the counter and thought back.

Rakan: I can't say I know too much about everyone when they first showed up. I wasn't the first.

Akali: Who was?

Rakan: That would be Olaf. Story is that he's been here since he was in his 20's. And he's, I wanna say, 15 years younger than Grandma? And people have come and gone since.

Kai'sa: What about this generation? You all seem close.

Rakan: Oh for sure. We all practically grew up together. But it's hard to tell where it started. If you really want to get technical, it would be either Garen or Vi. They were teenagers when they showed up.

She recalled meeting Vi. She was quite a woman, but she never thought that she worked at the Inn.

Akali: Really? I wonder why I didn't meet her.

Akali had visited once or twice, but she was pretty young. Was Vi here already? Maybe she joined after Akali's parents forbid her from seeing Grandma.

Rakan: After them, it would've been Y/N. He showed up when he was pretty young.

This caught both of their attention. Out of everyone, you were easily the one they couldn't get a proper read on. You were a nice guy, but you didn't quite fit in the big picture. Xayah and Jinx were always around each other and Olaf and Grandma seemed close. But you? You were always off on your own.

Kai'sa: How young?

Rakan smiled awkwardly.

Rakan: Funny thing about that. No one really knows.

The two stared at him for a moment.

Akali/Kai'sa: What?!

Ahri: Wow. This place is beautiful.

You and Ahri stood on a hillside that over looked the town all the way to the beach. With the sun being right above you, the lighting was perfect and the weather was nice. You watched as she took out her phone and aimed it at the scene. She took a picture before she found your hand.

Y/N: Want me to take a picture of ya?

Ahri smiled and handed her phone to you. You took a few steps back and waited for Ahri to strike a pose. Looks like she was a pro. Then again, she was a popstar. You wondered if she had done modeling before. You took aim and snapped a few photos of her. When you handed back her phone, she was surpised.

Ahri: Wow. You caught that lighting perfectly.

She smiled at you.

Ahri: Guess that's what happens when an artist takes a picture, huh?

You shrugged.

Y/N: It only works when person I'm taking a picture of is a work of art.

Ahri stood there for a moment blankly. She found her cheeks warming up as you walked past her. She's had people hit on her, sure, and they've been just as famous as she was, but no one ever done it so casually as you just did. But, were you even flirting?

You just seemed honest.

Y/N: I used to come here all the time when I was younger. Now it's just a place to go to calm down.

Ahri looked over to you and worked to regain her composure. She gathered herself enough to join you.

Ahri: I can tell why. It's peaceful.

Y/N: Yeah, it is. Getting any ideas yet?

Oh, she was getting a few. But she was pretty sure you were talking about for her music. Even then, she could think of a few verses. A story of two young lovers making a promise that wouldn't be kept. Maybe something stopped them. Maybe they stopped themselves.

She found her heart breaking and warmth overtaking her all at once. The sudden wave of emotion hit her so hard that she nearly choked. She looked over to you to see that your face wasn't the one she was used to. Rather than laid back and kind, you looked rather deep in thought. Troubled.

Ahri: Are you...okay?

You seemed to snap out of your thoughts when you turned to her. Your laid back composure returned as you smiled.

Y/N: Yeah, I'm good.

That was a lie. Ahri had gotten good at figuring out when people were lying. She began to wonder what it was that had troubled you so much. Then again it wasn't her place to ask. You barely knew each other.

But it made her wonder, what secrets did you hide?

Kai'sa and Akali sat with Evelynn at the table as Olaf finished the last of dinner. The food looked delicious and the staff had mostly gathered save for you and Ahri. Even Ezreal was here. Granted, he was in a chokehold.

Xayah: MAKE YOUR OWN DINNER, YOU LEECH!

Ezreal: GRANDMA SAID I COULD COME!

Xayah began to drill her fist into his head. Evelynn watched this with wide eyes before she turned back to her friends.

Evelynn: Can't say it's boring around here. They seem close.

Akali looked to Kai'sa who just sat there silently. After their conversation with Rakan, who helped to shine a bit more light on the Inn, she found herself at a loss on what to think. It was clear that this was a place of healing, but she wasn’t even sure if everyone was even who they said they were.

Not in a everyone is lying about their identity kind of way, but it was clear that a lot of secrets were being kept from them.

The door suddenly slid open and you and Ahri returned. You both looked tired after hiking back and forth from the hill. You took a seat next to Ezreal while Ahri sat beside Evelynn. No one really questioned where you went but it didn't really matter.

As you ate, you found yourself feeling like you were being watch. But every time you looked up, there wasn't anything there. Still, you couldn't shake the feeling.

And Kai'sa couldn't help but wonder what your story was.
