9} Forgiveness
Thank goodness!
After wondering for what felt like hours I finally made it back to G!'s room. I recognized it as his because it was the only door that wasn't decorated in some way.
I entered the quiet room and walked over to the bed making myself comfy...
It's been a long time since I slept in a bed.
I still had many questions, but my mind was satisfied for the time being letting me finally fall into a deep sleep.
🌄Timeskip🌄
💛Gaster!Sans POV💛
"BROTHER! IT'S TIME TO GET UP!"
"Ugh..." I sit up from the bed rubbing the sleep out my 'eyes.' "Bro... it's only six o'clock."
"'THE EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM!' BESIDES DON'T YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO DO TODAY?"
I raised my finger to my chin tapping on it like I was thinking for a moment. "Umm...nope, I don't think so," I said with a shrug.
"WHY OF COURSE YOU DO SILLY! TODAY YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE FRIENDS WITH (Y/N)!"
My eyes grew dull when I recalled the events of yesterday, "... I don't know Bro does she really need more friends? I mean what could be better than being friends with 'The Great Papyrus'?"
"NICE TRY BROTHER, ALTHOUGH TRUE. YOU MUST TRY!"
I sigh and grab a cigarette and move it towards my mouth, but Paps stopped my hand. "BROTHER... AS MUCH AS I HATE THIS HABIT OF YOURS AND WISH FOR YOU TO STOP, I WON'T FORCE YOU. BUT PLEASE STOP SMOKING IN MY ROOM, IT'S NOT A PLEASING SMELL."
"But you don't even have a nose."
Paps made his 'grumpy' face, "BROTHER..."
"Fine, fine. In to the hallway I go." I stood up and made my way out of the room while Paps started to make the bed. I leaned against the wall and settled a cigarette in my mouth pulling out my lighter flickering it a couple of times for nothing to happen. "*Sigh* Damn it, I forgot I'm out of lighter juice."
"OKAY! LET'S GO!" Paps finally stepped out of the room when he finished cleaning up. "YOU NOT GOING TO LIT YOUR CIGARETTE?"
"Nope, out of fuel. Dove, let me borrow her's yesterday."
"(Y/N) SMOKES TOO?"
I thought about it for a moment before shaking my head, "Nah, she doesn't seem the type. Probably has it for some other reason."
"YOU'RE RIGHT! LET'S GO SEE HER!" Paps grabs my arm and start rushing down the hallway.
🌄Timeskip🌄
*Knock* *Knock*
"HUMAN, (Y/N)! ARE YOU AWAKE?"
We didn't hear anything from the side of the door even after Paps' loud knock.
"(Y/N)?"
Again, silence.
"I think she is still asleep, Paps."
"NONSENSE! IT'S ALREADY SIX'FIFTEEN!" Paps opened the door walking in and waving for me to follow. On my bed (Y/N) was curled up in a ball holding her arms close to her body.
I suppose she is quite beautiful.
What?
You said she was cute.
W-what? No, I didn't.
Well, you thought about it.
Would you please stop that?
...wait
Did you just say she was beautiful?
Yes.
Really?
Yes.
"BROTHER, WAKE HER UP."
"Why don't you do it? I'm bone-tired."
"UGH, YOU LAZYBONES!"
Paps went up to (Y/N) reaching a hand out to her and her eyes flew open. She grabs Paps' hand and pushed him back causing him to almost fall back, but I caught him in time, balancing him back on his feet.
"Why did you do that?!"
"Oh no! I d-didn't mean to!" (Y/N) quickly moved from the bed glancing Paps over but not moving into our boundaries. "I'm so sorry, Papyrus! I-i thought-!"
"IT'S OKAY (Y/N) I'M FINE, YOU ARE FORGIVING. IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT, RIGHT?"
"Of course Papyrus, I just thought you might be an enemy... I'm not used to being able to sleep through the night." (Y/N) looked down guilty by her actions.
"It's okay, Dove it happens to the best of us." (Y/N) nodded her head but didn't lookup.
...
"WHOOPSIE DOOPSIE, I JUST REMEMBER I MUST GO... TO THE BATHROOM! EXCUSE ME!"
Paps dashed out the room quickly, leaving me and (Y/N) alone.
...
"Do skeleton even use the restroom?"
"Heh, no, not really."
...
"*sigh"
Now or never.
I sat on the bed as (Y/N) stood there rubbing her arm.
"...how's your back?"
(Y/N) stiffen and started to play with her thumbs, still not meeting my gaze. "F-fine. Great actually. I don't even feel it anymore."
"Monster medicine heals quicker."
"I see..."
Nice small talk, keep avoiding the subject at hand that will make it go away.
You can be a real jack-
I advise you not to finish that thought.
"So... you ever going to look at me or do you plan to stare at the floor the rest of your life?"
"Oh!" (Y/N) finally glanced up and our eyes met, but only for a second before she looked away again. "S-sorry I... it's just... hard to explain."
I stood up and walked over to her, she stepped back until her back was against the wall and I was right in front of her. I move my finger and wrapped it around her chin, lifting it to meet my gaze. "Scared, Dove?"
"Y-yes." (Y/N) eyes were on the brim of tears.
Ouch.
You should be rejoicing, you succeed. Isn't this what you wanted?
...I don't know what I want anymore.
I went to let my hand fall to the side, but (Y/N) grabbed it. "B-but! I don't want to be. I don't hate you, I just... umm... Oh! 'So much of this world is frightening because we don't understand it.'"
My eyes grew wide at her words, then I chuckled a bit, "Using my own words against me huh, Dove?"
"I didn't mean-"
"It's okay, I meant it in a good way."
"Oh...Oh! S-sorry." (Y/N) glanced down again and quickly dropped my hand when she realized she was still holding it.
"No worries, Dove." I moved away from her and rubbed the back of my skull. "*Sigh*" I grabbed her hand and moved her on to the bed and sat right next to her. "Listen, Dove... I'm really sorry about last night."
"That's okay-!"
"No. No, it's not. You don't even realize what I've done."
"No, really G! it's okay. I know."
I tilted my head to the side confused, "You know?"
"Yeah... I was looking for you last night, cause I had a lot of questions, but... I kinda got lost and ended up at Frisk door... we kinda talked for a bit."
"So, you know about pure souls?"
She nodded her head.
"And you know you're not one anymore, thanks to me."
She hesitated, then slowly nodded her head.
"And you're okay with that?"
"O-of course! You didn't mean to do it, it was just a nightmare, everyone has them."
I would usually make some stupid joke or something to avoid this atmosphere, but my mouth had other plans. "Yeah, but not everyone rips the soul out of an innocent bystander." I move my gaze down not wanting to see her reaction.
She'll probably realize I'm right and want nothing to do with me.
But, she surprised me again.
"G!..." (Y/N) moved closer and placed her hand over mine, causing me to look back at her. "You can't beat yourself up about this... it's my decision, to forgive you or not and I have. It's time for you to forgive yourself."
"..." A smirk found its way to me. "You're right, Dove. I guess I should stop skullking." I said with a wink.
(Y/N) face turned sour and she stood up from the bed in a huff. "Dang-it G!! We were having a moment!"
"Awe, come on~ don't let it get under your skin. Tibia honest, I'm just a numbskull. " (Y/N) was clenching her teeth, trying not to smile. "Come on, don't you find my jokes humerus?"
(Y/N) couldn't help herself and started laughing, "Hehe, you jerk. Why can't you just be serious?"
"Do you have a bone to pick with me?"
"Ugh! I'm going to find Papyrus."
(Y/N) stomped off to the door, trying to keep a straight face. "..thanks, Dove." She stopped and I could see a genuine smile across her face.
She let out a breath of air and looked back then paused looking at me with a tilted head.
"Like what you see, Dove?"
She rolled her eyes with a huff and dug around in her pocket before tossing something my way, I caught it and opened my hand to find the same lighter from before.
"I knew there was something off about you, kept it, my dad would be happy knowing someone got good use out of it."
"Oh, Dove I can't-"
"Too late. No givies backies."
"Heh, okay, you win. Let's go. I bet Paps has some wonderful breakfast spaghetti waiting."
"Okay!" (Y/N) smiled as she followed me out the door.
See isn't it better when you're honest?
Maybe... but, I don't know anything about her. Can I really trust her?
My answer would be no. But, I guess I should give her the benefit of the doubt. She isn't the one to lie.
... you're throwing me mixed signals, Dad.
Well, only time will tell.
