As one problem is solved another one arises.

"GO ON HUM-(Y/N), I'M SURE YOU'LL LIKE IT!"

"Yeah, Dove, my bro's spaghetti is totally indescribable."

I was irritated by his comment, because of the dish set before me, I knew he was doing this on purpose.

Currently, I am in the cafeteria of the safe house. Monsters fill the room, some I recognize; Undyne, the King and Queen, sit at the center table. Papyrus, G!, MK, Asriel, and I are at the one to the right, and others I don't know mixed about. I can feel hateful glares upon me and every once in a while I'll hear some uncared for choice of words directed towards me. But, most are having normal conversations like my presents isn't even a bother.

However, at this moment most eyes are on me.

I look down at the plate of pasta, concluding that there is no way it was edible.

But, I have to give credit where credit is due. How Papyrus was able to burn, yet not cook some of the noodles, must take an awful lot of skill. Also... the sauce was not red of a tomato, but somehow a light pink. Then finally the whole dish was showered in sprinkling silver glitter.

I glanced up at the tall skeleton that looked at me in awaits with excitement and hopeful eyes.

I force a smile his way then picked up the fork that was set for me, slowly and with a bit of difficulty I wrapped the spaghetti around the utensil. I lifted it to my mouth not even hesitating to chew it down in fear of smelling it and losing my nerve.

It was literally indescribable.

"SO (Y/N), WHAT DO YOU THINK?"

I certainly couldn't lie to him... But as I looked up into his eyes that almost sparkled with anticipation, I knew I didn't have it in me to hurt his feelings.

"I-its just so unique, I definitely never had anything like this before."

Satisfied with my answer most of the room goes back to their own conversations, leaving me be.

Papyrus takes a hero stance with his hand across his chest and his scarf dances almost like a cape, "OF COURSE! ALL MY LOVE AND HARD WORK GOES INTO EACH DISH TO MAKE IT THE ABSOLUTE BEST FOR MY FRIENDS!!"

I pause for a moment taking in his words,"...Thank you, Papyrus." I feel a little water fill my eyes at his kindness.

"You alright, Dove?"

I wipe my eyes and smile brightly at G!, who is sitting to the right of me, "Yeah! It's... It's just been so long since I ate with others and had a home-cooked meal."

G! opened his mouth about to say something, but-

"Awe! That's so sad!! Well, you can eat with us every day!" Asriel cut G! off.

I move my direction across the table, "Yeah yo! Can't have my hero eating all alone!" MK nodded at his own words, smiling proud of himself.

"AND OF COURSE I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, WILL BE HERE TOO!" Papyrus shouted to the left of me.

I giggled at everyone's enthusiasm, "Thank you, that's very kind..."

G! stood up from the table abruptly, startling me slightly, "Ready to go, Dove?" G! didn't wait for my answer as he began to walk away.

"Wait- Sorry everyone!" I waved goodbye to all at my table and chased after G!.

I rush down the halls turning towards the rooms and caught up to G!.

I walked up beside him trying to peer into his face as we kept walking, "Hey! Wait! Don't you think that was a bit rude?"

"Nah, they all know I have a skeleton of work to do today." G! didn't meet my gaze.

I rolled my eyes looking away knowing that joke was his way of pushing me off. I still smiled at his joke though, "Okay... then where are we going?"

"On a run."

"A run?"

G! smirked at my confused face and add on the confusion, "Yeah you know, breath in the fresh air, feeling the sun on my skin and the wind in my hair, and of course stopping to smell the flowers."

"Hehehe!!...there is so much wrong with that sentence I don't know where to start."

G! started laughing at my comment, calming down I sighed and rubbed my hand across my face. Then, a spark went through my mind. "You wouldn't happen to mean a supply run, would you?"

G! wore a smile that said he was happy with my question, "Well at least you don't have a bird's brain, Dove."

He called me not stupid, right?

"...thanks?"

"Heh, you're so weird."

"Huh?! Me? You-!"

I stopped short when I saw Undyne standing in front of our- G!'s room.

She glared at me by G!'s side,"...this Punk is not coming." Not as much as even a 'Hello' from Undyne, just straight rejection.

"She is." G! said in a simple, but serious tone.

Undyne slammed her hand into G!'s door, leaving a dent.

"Sans are you out of your mind?! Out of all people... why would you stand up for a human?! And take her on a mission, no less have you forgotten-?!!"

"Don't." G! voice was strong and like ice, "I know how you feel about humans, especially with what happened with Alphys-"

"Meet me outside."

Undyne's eyes went cold at the mention of this 'Alphys'. I could almost see the denial in her. Whatever was hurting her so clearly, she was running away from it... literally, she dashed past us to I assume was the exit, and for a small second, a single moment, I saw an overpowering amount of sadness.

...I know that look... because I was once the wearer of that look... she has lost someone incredibly close.

"Dove?"

I didn't realize I was staring aimlessly at the now empty corridor, where Undyne's figure once was.

"Um... yeah, sorry about that. So? We heading out?" I asked in a dazed cadence.

G! looked at me sideways like he was waiting for something, but after a moment of just stares, he questioned, "...you're not going to ask... are you?"

I understood immediately what he was speaking of and gently shake my head from side to side, "People keep things hidden for a reason."

"Heh, so you're taking King FluffyBuns words to heart?" G! opens the door to his room and walks in and starts grabbing things here and there throwing them on his bed.

I walk over to the corner I laid in earlier and grabbed my bag that was resting there. G! pulled out a duffle bag from under his bed and stuffed all the items in it, then zipped it back up.

"Catch." G! threw the bag my way and I instinctively caught it. "Good, now that's your responsibility."

I looked at the bag in my hands then back at G!, "...so I'm coming as a tag-a-long to be a pack mule?"

"Got to say, Dove, I love that brain." G! smiled as he gestured, tapping his finger on his own head.

I rolled my eyes, while adjusting the duffle bag to my shoulder, and followed G! out the room to the exit.

On the way to wherever we were going, there was only silence and the air was very thick between the two, it hurts to even breathe.

We have gone far past anywhere I have traveled and now we were in a neighborhood of abandoned homes surrounded by woods. We weren't stopping to look in any of the homes leading me to conclude that they already been here or that they were looking for something specific that they knew they wouldn't find here.

-Woosh.-

I stopped dead in my tracks, G! noticed immediately, "You okay, Dove?"

"Ugh! Come on human we don't-"

"Shh!"

-Crunch, crunch.-

"Dove?"

-Click, click.-

My eyes grew wide, "Get down!"

I ran past G! to Undyne pushing her and myself onto the ground.

-BLAM!-

A gunshot boomed in the area sending a flock of birds, pecking at something probably dead a few miles down, into the air.

I got to my feet and helped Undyne to her's, I moved my hood to my head, listening.

-Crunch, crunch. Crunch, crunch.-

"G!, he is not alone." I whispered nodded my head to the right, "Two, more."

G! nodded and at that moment two men jumped out of the woods running right towards us. They had simpler weapons, one a 2×4 and the other a large branch. G! and Undyne ready themselves for the new enemies coming right at them I slipped away to deal with the one with the gun.

G! saw me taking off and went to grab me, but one of the men swung at the back of his head,  luckily Undyne blocked him with a magical spear.

"Forget that human! Let her run like a coward!" Undyne pushed the guy away from her and onto the ground. G! turned his attention back to the men.

I used Undyne's words to my advantage and ran to the right making it look like I was fleeing. The men came from the left, the gun holder was behind us but I knew it was a losing fight if I ran head-on.

Once in the woods I climbed a tree and spotted the gun holder immediately, he was lining up his next shot. I quickly jumped from tree to tree, I didn't have much time to think and dove straight at him.

He pulled the trigger.
A shot was fired.

💛Gaster!Sans POV💛

I teleported behind one of the humans as he went to attack me with a 2×4. Once I faced his back I summoned a bone slamming not too hard into his head forcing him to fall unconscious.

Undyne similarly hit the other man with the butt of her spear, sending him into a reluctant sleep as well.

"Another easy win... Damn it! And to think you stood up for that human too and she just ran off like that!!" Undyne crossed her arms and looked to where (Y/N) ran off in anger, but mostly disappointment.

But, I knew where she really was.

I dashed towards the direction I believed the gunner was at.

"Sans?!" I heard Undyne yell out to me in confusion and worry. She soon followed behind me quickly.

I was at the beginning of the woods when-

-BLAM!-

I froze after a moment of total utter silence I heard what sounded like a body hitting the ground.

"(Y/N)!" I found the ability to move my feet again and sprung forward with Undyne close behind. After a few more quick steps I moved some bushes out the way and spotted (Y/N) sitting on the ground holding her left arm tightly. The other human was face planted into the leaves and his gun rested a bit from his hand.

"Umm, hey... Little help?" (Y/N)"s face showed she was clearly in pain. Her right hand was stained in her red blood.

"ARE YOU STUPID?!" G! shouted as he got closer and unzipped the duffle bag that slipped off my shoulder to the *cubital of my right arm. He pulled out some weird goop that I recognize as monster medicine.

Undyne was standing a little ways from us, watching us. She had a look of surprise. Not sure if it was because I didn't abandon them as she thought, or because I was injured.

"I-"

G! cut me off, "That was a rhetorical question. You are very stupid." G! stood back up and took off his jacket then his shirt. His rib cage was completely exposed.

I looked away, blushing, for some reason this made me flustered. To me, it was the equivalency of a normal dude showing me his bare chest.

I mumbled in a soft voice, "I panicked. He about to take the shot and my body just... reacted on its own."

I heard G! start to rip up his shirt into long strips, "*Sigh* I'm grateful that you saved us, but getting yourself killed won't do anyone good. Besides, monsters aren't as squishy as humans."

He said it would be no good if I died... he is genuinely worried about me.

G! bent back down and lightly removed my right hand from clutching my left arm.

"Here." The redness on my cheeks have faded from before, so I looked G!'s way. He was holding a ball of fabric to my face, I arched my brow in questioning. "The bullet is still in there... I have to get it out."

I sighed, grabbed the cloth, and stuffed it into my mouth.

"I'm going to use my magic so, it will be quick, but... it will be painful."

I nodded slowly and clenched my hand into a fist, my nails were digging hard into my palm.

"Here." G! seemed to notice my tense energy and offered me his hand. I was a bit surprised, his face/'cheeks' glowed a soft yellow blush, almost unnoticeable, almost. "Just take it!"

I gently intertwine my hand with G!'s. He sighs the nerves away and looks at me, I nodded readily.

"Okay..." I felt a soft, gently tingle in my arm, I assumed it was G!'s magic gripping the bullet. "One...two...three!"

On three, G! pulled the bullet out my arm. I bit down on the cloth yelling out in pain and clenched G!'s hand as I closed my eyes trying to block out the agony.

"Whoa!" I heard Undyne shout in a surpised voice, this worried me as she had been quiet and observing me and G! the whole time.

My eyes shot opened and G! was starting to apply medicine to my injured arm ignoring my bright royal blue soul that flowed inches from his face. Undyne was looking away obviously flustered.

I spat out the now damp cloth and started to panic immediately, "W-what? H-how-!"

"Calm down. This is natural. Your body went into shock from the sudden pain and your soul came forth escaping the discomfort." After the medicine was applied evenly, G! began wrapping the bandage around my arm as our conversation continued.

"B-but why didn't it- I mean when I was first shot-?"

"Because it was human. Souls react strongly to monsters because they sense a magical trait as a more dangerous threat."

"Oh..." G! finished dressing my wound and stood up his back facing away from me. "Well...how do I put it back?"

"*Sigh* I don't know. Humans just do after a while."

"Well, the punk can't just walk around with her soul out! It's indecent! Just put it back, I know you can!"

G! seemed off-put by that suggestion, "You can too, all boss monster can. So why don't you do it?"

"Ugh! You know I'm not good at it! What if I hurt her is that what you would want?!" G! glared at Undyne, but she wasn't backing down, "I didn't think so! So, just be a man and put it back!"

G! stayed silent like he was weighing his options and had a really guilty look on his face as if he was yelling at himself (or someone).

"G!... it's okay, I don't mind... I trust you."

After the events of today, I'm learning more about G!'s thought process and the fear that I developed was almost gone. I really do trust G!.

G! still had his back to me, "...you sure?" His voice was quieter.

"Of course."

G! sighed once again and faced me. He glanced at my soul and the blush from earlier returned even stronger this time. Seeing him react that way caused me to be embarrassed as well.

G! focused on my soul and reached out his hand towards it, not touching it. His own hand glowed a beautiful yellow.

The moment G! wrapped his magic around my soul, when it came into direct contact, my soul shot right back into my body.

My whole self became hot and my heart was beating incredibly fast. "W-what was that?!" I said in a louder volume clearly surpised about what just happened.

"I don't-"

"Hahahaha!!" G! was cut off by a roar of laughter from Undyne who watched the whole scene unfold. "Damn dude! You got rejected! Hahaha!!" Undyne began to laugh again.

"W-what?! No! I d-didn't-"

"Whatever. Let's go, Dove."

*Sigh* I knew the conversation was over the moment he started calling me Dove again.

G! and I walked past Undyne as she continued to laugh her butt off. She caught up still giggling a bit. G! was grumpy the whole way back.

I chose to remain silent as my heart was clouded with confusion and a slight disappointment.
