Chapter 88- Amusing Embarassment

"Thank you, Jimin," you smile at him with warmth radiating from you, "That's very thoughtful of you."

Jimin stays silent but a beaming smile grows on his face as well, pearly white teeth being showcased by his plumb lips, forming a glorious smile. He doesn't stay like that for long however, as you take the plate from his hands and he turns to take his own before he sits down on the kitchen table in front of you.

"So, now you're a part of the team, huh?" he grins cheekily before he takes a mouthful of rice. There's a glint of mischief in his eyes and the way their corners crease.

You stop chewing the food in your mouth and look at him with a blank expression, stating confusion. What? You...? Part of the team? What is he implying? Does he mean that you're in the squad now that you are friends with him? Who put him in charge of squad members casting? Even if that's true, why is it true? Can't everyone be friends with whomever they want?

"I mean the talent show," he chuckles after he notices your lack of understanding. However, his words make the crease between your eyebrows show intensely, "Don't you remember EunBi said that since she's leaving she wants you to replace her?"

You gulp your food with difficulty and your eyes widen. You remain silent for a few seconds before you whisper, "Wh...at?"

Your reaction can't help but amuse Jimin to the point of out-loud laughing. His shoulders rise and push themselves to the front as he throws his head back in a peal of melodic laughter. He finds your reaction adorable for some reason. He covers his mouth his hand

If you had the chance, mentally you would have commented to yourself about how nice that sound is but currently you are being haunted by the flashback of EunBi claiming you as her replacement.

Which isn't so irrational if you think about it. You have participated in the songwriting and composing and you have the voice to sing those songs along with the courage to perform them in front of people with the boys. However, these aren't the only requirements for the competition. Dance is also a key skill needed for it.

And of course, as proven earlier, your dancing skills are too far from the title 'Pink Dance Master' TaeHyung gave you, clearly in grounds of sarcasm.

"You don't think you can do it?" Jimin asks you with a soft voice after he reads the concern on your face, "I'm sure you can sing and you've written a song for it. Where's the problem? You don't like crowds?" this time his face is serious and all mock is gone from his face. Your silence has led him there.

"No, no that's- that's not my problem," you stammer through your words. The news struck you more than you would have liked, "But you guys dance," you purse your lips and your cheeks puff out, "And you have seen my dancing skills, which do not exist," you continue explaining full or irony and showing no mercy to yourself. Self-diss, in other words.

Jimin sighs in relief and he laughs a little bit at your concern, "Don't worry about that," he grins, "Anyone can dance, especially you, Pink Dance Master," the teasing has your pinks turn a shade of dark pink and you bite down on your lip with a regretful expression covering your face.

"Shut up, I can't dance," you playfully hit his arm.

"Ah, come on, it's not that hard. Even NamJoon and SeokJin- Hyung can work them out and they...," he sighs in the thought of the elders' dancing skills. He's glad they are leading different careers. Nonetheless, they work harder than everyone to live up to the expectation and master whatever they can of the dances. And It's true they have shown incredible improvement over the time he's been teaching them. He's proud of them.

"The point is that you shouldn't be so negative about it. As long as there is will and belief that you can do it, then you can do it," he pokes your cheek with the end of a chopstick he holds in his hands, "And you'll have the best teacher of all, so you're bound to get good at it," he leans back in his chair, pinching in nose in attempts to hide his smugness. He rests the chopsticks on the side of the plastic and he rubs his hands on his thighs as he spreads on the chairs.

"Who will be the lucky one to teach me?" you question with sarcasm again but Jimin doesn't pick up on it. He simply smirks and answers;

"Me."

Again you give no physical reaction yet there's a hurricane of thoughts and emotions in your head about all this. First, his top. Something about how his black long-sleeved shirt hugs his upper body and the contrast it creates with his well-groomed blond hair gives him a certain type of irresistible masculinity has you seriously losing your focus from moment to moment. Second, the way he has sprawled himself on the chair, he emits comfort- despite you knowing that these aren't comfortable at all- again masculinity and last but not least he gives off authority and self assurance. Like he is certain about the topic he is discussing, he's open about it and he has nothing to hide. He has a certain type of smugness in himself that, in anyone else, it might have repulsed you but somehow this man makes it work. You like this smugness on him. It's attractive and you...maybe you want more of it, but who would ever admit that?

Jimin noticed that you hopped on a train of thoughts and lost touch with the world, so suddenly he lost the confidence that he'd built up until now and he collected himself on the chair; sitting up straight. Yet, soon after he notices that your eyes were stuck on him, specifically in the middle of his chest, his sternum. His eyebrow got raised in interest. He's not sure whether you're looking there for a reason, hopefully in admiration of his chest, or because you've zoned out and your vision isn't even focused anyone.

"Y/N?" he asks quietly and you snap out. You shake your head and scold yourself for diving into such thoughts about Jimin.

"So you wanna be responsible for teaching me the dances?" you raise a quizzical eyebrow, maybe with a little color to signify teasing and playfulness rather than seriousness, "I won't be an easy student, I must warn you."

"Oh, that's okay, I'm an experienced teacher, I can handle you," the amused grin on his face grows and at this point, you can't tell whether he's teasing you friendly or flirting. But it definitely can't be the latter. It's foolish to even consider it, you think.

"Ah, okay I guess," you sigh, this time being serious, "I'll think about it and tell you tomorrow. But can't you guys find another girl to replace EunBi? From the dance studio, you work at? Or, I don't know, someone from your major?"

"We'll have to hold a casting and then form a friendship with that girl and it will need way more time than we have. With you, we already know your skills, we know you as a person- or at least the other guys know you more than I and they trust you. It's just easier with you," he shrugs through his explanation and it leaves you a little bit speechless, pleasantly surprised indeed but still unexpected. Not to say that it completely eliminates your chances of denying the offer without causing a problem to the guys.

"I...," you look down at your food and poke it with your fork, "Thank you, I guess. But still, we can have hope that EunBi returns before it's too late and you don't murder me for my bad dancing."

Jimin scolds after hears the last of your words, "Lesson number one, don't underestimate yourself. If you begin with such a negative attitude you won't achieve anything. Accept your current state but don't deny the- what is logical to happen- improvement. Just be a bit patient and try it."

He's right, you don't know how to argue with him. It's just that dancing, for you has always been impossible. Although you are physically active, you could never pick up dancing and be exceptionally good at it, like in other things. Truth be told, however, you never really insisted on becoming better to it, you never tried enough for the improvement to be shown. But it's fine, you were concerned with other things at each time.

"Okay, then...," you mumble quietly, already overpowered by his speech, "You're right."

"I know," he grins, pleased with himself and his achievement, "Why are you using a fork?" he points out all of a sudden. You look at the fork full of food quizzically and then your shift your gaze on him.

"What else am I supposed to use?"

"You know how to use chopsticks now...," he trails off with a suggestive look on his face. He's hinting to you the day he taught you how to use chopsticks. Well, he didn't exactly teach you, he more like fed you.

"If I am to judge your teaching skills by how you taught me the chopstick ways...we don't have a future in the dance area," you respond to him a little bit satisfied with yourself. It reminds you a little bit of the older times- a few days back basically- when you told each other off all the time.

Wait, he's not offended by this, is he? His face looks rather too serious to have taken it playfully...

"Did you practice at all after that day?" he says in a defensive manner and a mocking expression on his face. It's not his teaching skills that are at fault if you didn't use and practice the knowledge he gave you.

"No...," you trail off like a defeated child.

"My lessons have nothing to do with it then," He cocks his head to the side a little bit, satisfied that he turned the tables on you.

This time it's your turn for your expression to go dark and you squint your eyes at him and poke your tongue out. He only laughs at your childish actions and makes you more thirsty to take that win away from him.

"You didn't teach me anything! You just fed me, I don't remember being given any instructions!" oh, if only you'd thought a bit more about these words you might not have said them. But it's too late now. You've already played yourself and he has caught on to you.

"I can feed you again if it's any help."

You stay with your mouth open, unfamiliar with this type of teasing from a male.

"Shut up," you say with a small voice, clearly flustered.

He loves it. The type of reactions you give to him each time he's like this with you is pure entertainment for him. It only makes him want to act more like this towards you and have a good laugh. Yet, he hasn't considered the hazard his actions will cause, but that's for later to be told.

"Aw, come on!" he whines, amused, as he wiggles in his chair, "Let me feed you," he continues and he adores how your blush grows. So, so, so innocent, he thinks in admiration.

"Park, eat your food and stop," you respond with a serious voice as if there will be consequences if he doesn't listen to you, but he knows; there won't be any at all. Only more embarrassment on your side and laughter on his.

"Alright," he decides to be merciful for the evening although he's already thinking of ways to tease you when he teaches you the choreographies for the competition, "By the way, mom called earlier, you've greetings from her."

"Oh, thanks. How is she?" you ask, thankful that he stopped. You've truly never felt that type of embarrassment before. Like your brain turned into white canvas and no thoughts were there to help you react in a way that would help you get out of the situation.

"Oh, she's okay. JiHyun is whining all the time but she's handling him," he nods his head wondering where in the world did his brother go wrong. You chuckle.

"She asked when you'll be visiting Busan again, said she liked you a lot, my dad, too. Not to talk about JiHyun..."

"Wow," is all you can say. You rubbed off on this family more than you ever thought you could. Why the heck did it take so long for Jimin to see you're a great person?

"I know, you're the best girlfriend I've ever brought home and you're not even my real girlfriend, how ironic is that?" he scrunches his face at how fate has brought things for him.

"Hey, hey," you grab his attention, "Don't worry, you'll find a person who will be perfect for you. Whether that's tomorrow or years from now."

"I don't know if that's comforting or you're mocking me," he states with a blank expression. You snort and leave it unanswered.

"By the way, how much did the food cost? I've to pay my half."

"Don't even think about it, it's my treat. I don't know how you guys deal with things, but here the elder pays for the meals," he says defensively and backs away from you.

"It's four days for goodness' sake!" you gasp exasperated and he laughs again. Wow, this guy knows how to press your buttons.

"Fine, consider it as a thank you dinner for how much you've stood by my side lately."

And again, that you can't argue with.

"I hate you," you sigh but of course you don't mean those words anymore and he knows. But since he got here he hasn't let you win a single argument and you're getting frustrated.

"You'll love me eventually, just wait," he grins and takes another bite of his food.

If only either of you knew how true his words were, he might not have said them and you wouldn't have ignored them with such ease.
