Chapter 85- Friends...?

That's what friends are for

That's what friends are for

That's what friends are for

Her smile when she said that was so geniune. A glint of happiness in her eyes for being able to say those words to him. Honesty. She was dripping of honesty when she told him that. He assumes she must have felt great telling him that.

Friendzoning him like that.

Even though he smiled genuinely as well, before leaving, there is something about her words and motives that did not please Jimin as it should.

Does he still suspect her of being ingenuine?

No,no, she has proven herself to him. She's nothing like ChaeRin.
She shows her real self, not who she wants to be perceived as.

But, if that's not it... Then what is the reason that gives him this small but unexplainable bitter feeling everytime he thinks of her calling him a friend.

Could he possibly like her?

No. He knows too little about her to develop feelings already. It's not like him to start liking someone romantically so easily.

But that kiss at the beach. He sure has caught himself thinking about it a lot since it happened. Sometimes he even caught himself starring at her lips for no reason. Yet, she didn't seem to notice, nothing at all.

Or maybe she chose to not notice it. Maybe she remembers the kiss took place but she wants to leave it in the past because she doesn't trust him enough to try out anything romantic.

Well, he doesn't blame her. He hasn't been the kindest to her and on top of that he got her involved in matters that included the ex he still had strong feelings for. She's seen him nearly crawl back to her. He would have, if it wasn't for her, honestly.

He sees now why she would try not to date him if she had feelings, or even if she didn't.

But that's not the case. He doesn't want to date her either.

Right?

They are friends. Platonic friends. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Just friends...," He sighs with a hint of melancholy in his voice while he blankly stares out the window of the bus.

"What did you say?" Jungkook, who sits next to him playing on his phone, asks after barely hearing Jimin mumble incoherent words under his breath.

"What?" Jimin finally snaps out of the trace he was in and meets Jungkook's curious eyes who picked up on his elder's thoughts.

"You were thinking about Y/N, weren't you? Or was it ChaeRin...," The youngest tilts his head with doubt and suspicion in his eyes, "If you're that melancholic about ChaeRin I'll slap you so hard you'll fly straight into the Han River!"

Jimin looks at him with wide eyes, confused and feared by Jungkook's deducing skills, "Woah, woah, woah! No need for violence!" He raises his hands in the air in defense, trying to keep his voice as low as possible to not attract attention by other people on the bus,

"I wasn't thinking about any of them!" He lies, "I-I was thinking about changing my hair color! The red has faded into this...pink-orange disgrace and I need a change," he successfully covers his tracks, fooling the younger who's eyes soften up.

"Yeah, you seriously do need a change. Don't bleach your hair again, though, give your scalp a break..."

"I was thinking of going dirty blond...," Jimin trails off with a sheepish smile on his face and Jungkook gives him a blank expression.

"I'll give you my sixty-eight shades of brown pallette and you can chose a color," Jungkook answers making a mental note to find that pallette, "My personal favorite is cookie brown."

"Why are there sixty-eight shades of brown?..."

Jungkook only squints his eyes at him and then returns to his phone giving Jimin no answer.

Okay...

And they didn't talk again untill they reached their home where they saw most members had already returned with the exception of SeokJin and HoSeok who will return later in the day.

Now on another part of the City, specifically your apartment that EunBi has already returned to since early in the morning you enter with a pretty tired expression.

Although you're not sure if you're ready for what's coming.

All these days EunBi has kept on pestering you about you and Jimin. She insists that you should steer the ship of you and him towards the romantic horizon, but you ignore her everytime she gets on that topic.

There's no point to it in anyway.

He is definitely not interested and you should not be interested.

But no matter how times you tell yourself that you should not think of him like that, your mind finds its way into slipping back to the New Year's were he stole your first kiss with his soft lips.

The entire night is an entire blur of lights, asses, fireworks and chestnuts that were never bought, however that moment is crystal clear in your head.

You've even seen a fair amount times repeat its self in your dreams, while Jimin was literally snoring a few meters away from you, and it creeped you out; how much your mind seems to be holding on to that experience.

Sure, a first kiss might seem as important to some people but you were rather indifferent towards it. You weren't saving it for someone special like young girls claim to do but you weren't chasing after either. If it was meant to happen it would, like it did. But thinking so much about it...it wasn't in your plans.

"Y/N!" EunBi's cheery voice is heard from the kitchen the moment you close the front door and set your bags down before you take your shoes off and proceed to walk into the house.

I kinda missed our little apartment...

You smile thinking that there have been days that you were so sick of this place you wanted to leave it immediately.

"Hey!" You beam when you see EunBi in her pajamas and rather messy hair. Too messy, in honesty.

Tiredly she walks up to you and wraps her arms around you to engulf you in a hug and you do so as well.

"How was your time off with Tae?" You ask into her hair and she let's out a huff of sadness. Your eyebrows furrow in confusion, she was cheery a few seconds ago.

"We broke up," she mutters and you hear her try to gulp down the mass that's gathered in her throat.

"What? Why?"  You ask again.

She takes in a shaky breath,"We had a huge fight..."

"About what? How serious was it?"

"Very," she whispers and stuffs her face in the crook of your neck and soon you hear a small sob.

"Hey there...," You speak quietly while rubbing small circles on her back, "Should we get some pizzas or snacks and you can tell me all about it?"

After she pulls away she looks at you with red and year stained eyes, "If you're not busy...please," she began and you nod your head in approvement, feeling bad for your best friend being in this state.

So, after dialing the nearest pizza place that does deliveries around evenings and thirty minutes of waiting, you two dug into three pizzas of your choice. EunBi eating most of the slices as the has the tendecy to eat away her sadness. Her metabolism doesn't succumb to the challenge, nontheless, she never gains a single pound.

While stuffing her face, she told you everything that happened the previous day and led the two into this messy break-up.

Apparently, TaeHyung had gone out with a female friend of his from High School, his, ex and first girlfriend SiNa to be precise. And he didn't spare a moment to let EunBi know about this meet up. Inevitably, she found out and when she passed by the cafeteria TaeHyung and SiNa had been sitting at she saw that they were a bit too friendly with each other.

And that, clearly, led into a fight that brought up other unfinished business from their past and TaeHyung called their relationship off this morning when they got off of the bus and had to separate ways.

You were left speechless.

And you had, and still have, a hard time believing that TaeHyung would cheat on EunBi just like that. Sure, like you know, SiNa may have been the first girl he ever had a relationship with and the girl who he proceeded onto the next stage with and he'll remember, because she was the one who got him out of his shell.

However, Taehyung was whipped for EunBi. He would never cheat on her. He's enough of a man with honor to never back stab anyone like that, let alone the person who he is in a committed relationship with and claims to love with his entire heart.

Nontheless, in this moment she is hurt and sad, and there's not much you can do about it but be there for her as her best friend and try to cheer her up. Which is what she needs at the moment.

"Well, EunBi, I don't know if this will make you feel better, but um...I haven't told you this..." You trail off contemplating whether you should tell her or not.

"What is it?"

You take in a deep breath and let it out shakily. This is making you more nervous than it should. What the hell is wrong?

"On the New Year's...I was with Jimin at the beach, and we got pretty drunk...So kissed me right when the clock hit twelve and...I haven't really stopped thinking about that since then...," You finally let the secret away, the first person you ever told. Your chest already feels lighter, but it concerns you that this event is a matter that makes you worry.

"Oh my God," her face lights up a mischievous smile takes over and her eyes burn with curiosity, "Do you like him?"

"What? No! Wh-why would I? I've no reason to," you defend yourself with excuses that don't really stand like proper arguments.

EunBi clasps her hand on her mouth in shock, "You do! Wait-wait! You said  he  kissed you? Oh my! He likes you too! He's finally getting over that snake?"

I should not have spoken...

"EunBi, chill," you tell her with a serious gaze on your fave, "I don't like him that way. I'm just... I don't know, I suppose I wanted to be kissed more than I let my self believe..."

"No, Jimin's quite popular in that area. And you want to be kissed more by him, not just any guy."

"Goodness! EunBi stop!!" You squeal, while throwing a pillow at her, feeling your cheeks burn from the embarrassment and spark going off in your stomach, "I don't want him nor anyone!"

"Mhm, sure, sure," she nods her head with a glance that screams she doesn't believe you.

"Come on, don't tease me," you beg with a pouty look on your face and she sighs.

"Fineeeee," she rolls her eyes, "So now that you've gotten a taste are you ready to start dating people and enjoy the ride?"

"Um...," You trail off, "I'm still kind of fake dating Jimin...so... I can't really-" and that's when EunBi hits you with a pillow. Hard.

"Just date for real already!" She exclaims, expressing her frustration, "You're a real pain in the-" her kind speech gets cut off by your phone making the signature sound of it when it received a message, a small clip of SeokJin's window-wiper-like laugh.

"Who is it?" She asks while eyeing your phone on the couch next to the empty pizza box and then looking up at you.

"I don't know," you say kinda creeped out for no particular reason.

"I bet it's Jimin," EunBi cock an eyebrow suggestively.

"Don't be ridiculous," you tell her off and grab your phone to open it. Turns out the message is indeed from Jimin, in your private chat with him. And it has an attachment of two pictures;

From: Jimin

- I changed my hair color and asked the guys for their opinion. Half say it's good, half say I should have gone for black or brown. What do you think?
