Chapter 26- Cancel

"Hey, Y/N! Wait up!" you hear a voice call from behind you, when you exit the amphitheater, excited to go back to your apartment and pack your stuff.

Today is the last day of college and you're leaving tommorow morning. You can't be more excited.

"Cody!" you give an award smile as you turn around and see that it was Cody who called you.

"Hey,  how are you?" he asks once he catches up to you, and you start walking together.

"I'm good, how about you?" you ask.
Every since that incident at the Pastry Shop you've been searching for ways to avoid any contact with Cody. You've been trying to avoid him as much as possible. It's not that you don't like him as a friend anymore, it's more about the whole relationship thing with Jimin that makes you feel like you should keep some huge distance between you and Cody.

"Aaah! Amazing!" he breaths out, "I can't believe this year is coming to an end" he looks up at the sky.

"Yeah... Time passes by so fast," you nod, speaking with a monotonous voice.

"So, " Cody continues, " Do you have any plans for the break?"

"Yes, actually, tomorrow I'll be going to (home country) to see my family and friends" you say while a smile forms on your face at the thought of going home.

Cody approvingly hums, "Will you be going alone?"  he asks and turns to look at you with a mischievous smile.

"Why? Who else could possibly come with me?" you stare at him blankly.

"Jimin?" Cody asks matter-of-factly and you mentally curse at yourself for not thinking it.

"Did I hear my name?" you hear Jimin's voice, as he comes up from behind you and puts an arm around you, while he brightly smiles.

"Jimin! Hey!" You try to say excitedly, but the last thing you could be feeling right now, is excitement.

"Hello, there, beautiful" he pinches you cheek and you find yourself blushing at his words and actions.

"Jimin, hey! I was just asking Y/N whether you're going to go with her to (home country)" Cody asks with a smile and Jimin hesitates for a second, he's at a loss at how to respond to him.

"Unfortunately, not..." You cover Jimin's ass up, "My parents are kinda strict on the dating stuff, they don't really know about us..." You continue lying

Your parents are not that much strict on the dating matter, you father is a little bit over protective, but he has never full-out restricted you from dating. He didn't need to do so anyways, you weren't one to show that much of interest in boys.

"Aaah, it's too bad...you shouldn't be lying to them," Cody says awkwardly and then there's a moment of silence between the three of you.

As you are about to say your goodbye to Cody and get yourselves out of this situation, Cody speaks up faster than you, eliminating your chance, "Are you guys going to attend the party tonight?"

"Probably," Jimin nonchalantly says, whereas you have no idea of what he's talking about.

"I'm sorry what party?" You ask looking from one boy to the other.

Cody looks at you like you've missed on something really important and that everybody must know,

"Don't you know about the party that Chae-Rin is going to throw tonight? You know, as the last night we'll all be together before heading away for the holidays and that the end of the year is soon?"  he says referring to all the college students when he says 'we'll all be together'.

And now it strucks you, you had heard a few people mention a party going on, that it'll be hosted by someone who is known to throw good college parties, but you didn't get any further information as,  firstly, parties are not your kind of scenery and secondly, you're leaving tomorrow for what reason would you attend a party tonight?

"Aaham, and it's tonight?" you ask just to make sure.

"Yup," Jimin says popping the 'p'  in the end.

Suddenly out of the blue, you see a female figure attacking Cody and smashing his lips with hers. Guessing by her mint colored hair, it's Chae-Rin.

"Ooh! Hey! Didn't see you there!" She says once she removes her lips from Cody's and turns to look at you.
You instantly feel Jimin's grip around your shoulder tightening and you realize that he's probably not happy about this.

Pppfft, this kid has probably still not gotten over Chae-Rin and is struggling real hard to not give in again.

Why else would he act this way?

"Hey!!" you say with a smile, not wanting to be too friendly in case she receives it as an invitation to becoming your friend.

"So! Will you guys come to the party?"she asks with a smile as she hooks her arm around Cody's waist, just like you have done with Jimin's.

You hesitate a little bit making a sorry face, "I...Am not sure if I'll attend, I have a flight tomorrow and... Partying the night before won't be a good choice"

"Aah, come on, jagi, I'm sure we could go for an hour or two," Jimin tells you and you look up at him with a confused look.

Is he seriously trying to get himself closer instead of further away from Chae-Rin?

Like, if he attends that party and gets drunk while she has his eyes on him, he's dead meat. He won't be able to hold back to the tricks she's going to use on him. That is why he wants you there; If you are with him all the time Chae-Rin won't find it very easy to make an attempt to get him alone and probably he'll be able to handle his drinking some more.

Chae-Rin ignores the fact that you said you'll be leaving tomorrow and says, "Yes! Please come! Everyone is going to be there! And you guys will get to shut a few mouths that keep saying you guys are not really couple!" she chimes and claps her hands in excitement.

And now something else strucks you. Chae-Rin published a picture of you and Jimin inwardly stating that you are dating. She had no right to do that, doesn't matter if you're really dating or not. It is non of her business to say something personal like that to the public about you and Jimin. And even if you know that she's doing it to 'test' you and Jimin you need to confront her about it and set the record right.

"Oh! Speaking of which... Chae-Rin I wanted to ask you... Why did you publish that picture of me and Jimin? You know... That was kind of personal and not your secret to say," you try to say in a less offending way as possible.

You're not looking out for a fight, just an observation about something that bothered you.

"O-oh.." You see her face expression break into a worried one, as she brings her hand in front of her mouth,

"You guys said that you were going to make your relationship public... And since we're friends I-I thought you wouldn't mind,"

You take a deep breath thinking of all the things you have a disagreement on Chae-Rin's words, which... is everything.

"Okay, firstly, " you begin softly and as less provokingly as possible, "I mean no offense, but I don't consider you a friend of mine. It's not because the two of you dated before, I could care less about that," you wave your hand nonchalantly and Jimin coughs at the sound of this making Chae-Rin smirk,
"It's because I don't consider people my friends easily," you finish and you look at Chae-Rin's displeased face but continue nonetheless, "And second, yes... We may have told you that we wouldn't keep it a secret anymore but still you had no right doing it,"  you say with a soft voice, trying not to trigger her.

"I..." she begins, "I'm sorry, I should've thought about it before I did anything, and you're right, we don't know each other long or good enough to be friends," she gives you and Jimin an apologetic look and both of you are sure it's fake.

"It's perfectly fine, we don't mind that much, it just would've been better if our friends heard about it from us than your post. But what's done is done, it's not like I'll hold a grudge against you," you say jokingly in the end to light up the mood.

"I know, you seem too kind to do that," she fires with a sweet smile that almost makes it seem genuine but it definitely has the words too kind and naive in that sentence as she is coming up with her master-plan to get Jimin to 'break up'  with you,  and guessing that you give off the idea that you still haven't realized that as an ex-girlfriend she means threat, she believes it's going to be too easy.
She really wants to see that smile gone from your face. By what she reads from your smile and the way you look at Jimin she gets that you really appreciate to have such a special bond with her ex. And Jimin seems to be enjoying every moment he spends with you. The times she has seen you together have actually made her believe that Jimin has truly moved on from her, but she won't give up. She'll win him over again, but not because she has feelings for him--oh no, those are no existing--, she just wants to boost her confidence and prove to herself once again that she can have anyone she wants all the times she wants.

However, she hides all this evil behind a bubbly, sweet, happy, kind and cheery facade. And she does it very well indeed. She's like siren, charming everyone around her with her sweet appearance and melodic tongue but she gets her targets close enough, she rips them apart with no remorse.

"Anyways, we should probably get going, right, Jagi?" Cody asks and looks at his girlfriend who nods.
After they bid you goodbye heading towards Chae-Rin's expensive car at the Collage's parking lot, you try to escape from Jimin's hold but he doesn't let you go, "There are eyes on us, we can't drop the act yet, come on let's go to the bus station,"

"ugh, fine" you growl and stay let his arm stay around you, "Now please tell me that  you don't really want me to go to that party" you whine, after you recall his earlier request of telling you to go for even just two hours.

"Yes, you'll have to" He says uninterested and this causes you to become stubborn.

How can he state it like that? It's not like he has authority over you to tell you what to do and what not. He can at least ask you if you would like to attend it and tell you why he wants you there, at least you'd feel sympathetic enough to agree. But now? Hell to the no. He needs to show some respect, and besides you have stuff to do.

"I'm sorry what?" you ask sarcastically.

"I said you'll be coming to the party with me, and won't leave my side" he says once you make it to the bus stop and he unwraps his arm from your shoulders and you turn to stand in front of him and give him a deadly look.

"I'm not going," you cross your arms on your chest.

"How so?" he asks raising an eyebrow.

"First, I have a flight tomorrow and I have things to do," you begin, "and second parties are not my way of enjoying free time"

"You're still coming," he says and you start getting irritated at his attitude but you don't respond because the bus you're taking has arrived.

As you hop in the bus Jimin follows you suit and you give him a questioning look,

"What we need to pick what you're going to wear tonight, I have you capable of coming with sweatpants if I don't interfere" he says giving you an honest look.

It's true, you find no shame in going to a party with sweatpants and a hoodie and you'd probably do that just to annoy the hell out of Jimin but you have no intentions of going to that party, which why you get annoyed to the fact that Jimin considers it sure that you'll go, not paying attention to your opposing statements.

"You're unbelievable," you tell him giving him an unamused look, you'd like to day much more with more harsh words, but the bus is kind of full with college students all of whom are aware of you and Jimin's relationship, and now... Starting a battle at the bus on the way to your house you bring suspicions that you don't need. Well... It's Jimin's ass that will be on fire, since he cares more about his image on others than ever would care about, but you've promised him to help him and you keep your promises.

Jimin chuckles at your comment while looking down at his shoes and you find yourself smiling as well, as you look at his red hair and you notice he has a small leaf tangled in his hair.

"Wait," you tell him and he snaps his head up to look at you as you try to get the leaf of his hair,

"Don't move. You have something in your hair,"  you say as you let go of the poll you held on for support and bring your other hand to untangle it.

However, the driver decides to be tricky and abruptly stops the bus making you lose your balance and collide your body on Jimin's, while unintentionally shoving your face in his chest, who of course catches you.  Once the impact of the sudden stop is gone, you find yourself looking up at Jimin who is giving you a worried look, and the brush can't help but each you cheeks.

"You okay?" he asks when you distance yourself from him and hold the poll for support again.

Before you can manage to answer him and thank him for catching you hear a few gushes and'aaaw-s' coming from behind you and you turn to look at the source, only to see a bunch of girls near your age looking at you and Jimin gushing over how cute you guys are,

"Are you guys dating? Gosh, you must be dating you really fit each other"  says one of them with wide eyes due to excitement.

"Uuuuh," you find yourself at a loss of words.

"Yes, we are, I'm lucky to call her mine" he says putting a protective arm around you, from behind, as he smiles to the four girls.

Once the girls hear his words their hearts start melting, your heart would've melted too had they been uttered from someone who truly meant them, but unfortunately you're sure Jimin does not mean them.

The bus stops, flinging its door open, and as it seems this is the girls' stop, however before they do one of them smiles at you,

"Keep him, he's a good one"  and she hops off just before the doors close
Jimin happens to hear those words as well and he blushes like a maniac, however he still holds you in his arms from behind, not being able to see his face.

"Okay, don't let this boost your confidence too much," you say jokingly as you turn around to face a Jimin with red cheeks.

You seriously feel like you want to explode. For some reason, you can't help but find shy and embarrassed Jimin utterly cute, thing that you hate because he doesn't let you see this side of him often, or maybe you haven't learned to push the right buttons yet. Thing that is really hard to do considering that Park Jimin can go from being as cute and sweet as a mochi to confident, cruel and cheeky as a demon.

The bus stops once again, and you get both get off walking until your apartment in silence.

"Are you seriously coming up?" you ask in full disbelief as he follows you to the stairs.

"Yes, I told you I'm not trusting your sense of fashion," he says and once again all signs of shyness are long gone replaced by sarcasm and endless offenses.

You sigh in irritation as you walk to your apartment's door and open it with your keys,

"Do you want something to drink?" you ask after to have taken your coat and shoes off and are padding towards the kitchen, as Jimin takes his shoes off.

"No," he says and follows you to the kitchen, "Now come on show me your clothes"  he urges you as you gulp down a glass of water.

"You're not really serious about this are you?  I can't attend the party" you say as you place the now empty glass down.

"Yes, you are. I'm not accepting any other answer, l" he crosses his arms against his chest.

You are about to angrily fire back at him, but your phone rings and saves his ass. You pull it out of your pocket and check the caller ID; it's your mom.

You furrow your eyebrows in confusion, it's weird of her to call at that hour, you rush to answer the phone in fear that something might have happened.

"Hey, mom is everything all right?" you ask, remaining calm, there's no need to start freaking out before you hear the news.

"Um... Actually no, honey," she tells you.

"Wh-what's wrong?" you ask getting more worried and now it's even visible in your voices. This causes Jimin to wonder what is going on as well given that that he doesn't understand what youbsre saying (a/n: even English...)

"Uuh, I don't think you should come for your break here, honey," she says with a very sad voice.

"What? Why?" You ask trying to figure out why your mother is saying this.

"Aah, because even if you come you won't be able to see us. Unfortunately, both me and your father have been assigned too much around the country, which means that we'll be traveling a lot, and besides your grandma has come down with the flu again and she's turned all frantic claiming those are her last moments," she sighs at your overdramatic grandmother,

"You know how she gets"

"Aaahh but-" you try to protest but you can't fight and point to argue on, your parents' job is very demanding and indeed requires a lot of traveling around in the country and abroad, and you can't tell them to go against it just because you want to see them.

Afterall, they are the ones paying for all your expenses while you're staying in Korea. You told them that you would get a job as well to not be much of a burden, but they strictly disagreed saying that you should focus more on your studies. And of course you had to comply, however, if you ever are to find a well paying and enjoyfull part time job you won't decline it, even if your parents don't know.

"Gaaah!" you exclaim in anger and disappointment, "I really wanted to come"  you say as you feel your stomach drop, as you slowly realize you'll have to cancel the tickets and stay in South Korea for your break.

And who knows when you'll get to see your parents and friends again.

"I know honey, I really wanted you to come too. But there's no point, me and your dad will be gone for all the days you'll be staying here, and all your friends have left as well, so you'll be alone of you come, " she explains and you sadly hum in agreement, having completely forgotten of Jimin's presence, who looks at you paying attention to your every movement and word as you fluently speak your native language and he seems to be captured by your tone of voice and accent.

" I have got to go pack my stuff now. Just know that we love you a lot, okay?" she says with a sweet voice and you pout a little bit.

"I love you too" you tell her and she hangs up.

You pout more as you slowly leave your phone on the table, feeling the cloud of sadness slowly finding its way over your head making you feel homesick.

"What happened?" you hear Jimin's voice and you realize that he was silently standing there the hole time when you talked to your mother.

You sigh, "I won't be leaving tomorrow"

And at this sentence an unwanted smile creeps up to Jimin's lips.
