Chapter 6: Dreaming Again

Elise’s Pont of View

Focusing back on my book, I started to read about Loki, the God of Mischief and Lies. I was about to read Loki's parentage, but halfway across the book, my eyes started to get droopy, and my hands fumbled with the book. My eyes started to close. Hugging the book to my chest, I get comfortable on the couch and the last thought that occupied my head was a certain emerald eyed man. But the last thing -person- I saw was a girl with brown eyes smiling at me saying, "Goodnight, princess."

My eyes shot open, and I was back to the Grassland from my previous dream, but, wearing a different dress. The dress was colored black, with two thin straps. It had gold accents, and it flowed freely down to the grass floor. The dress' neckline was a round neck. Although it showed off more skin than necessary, but either way the cloth was comfortable. My left hand wore a black glove that reached up to my elbows which thankfully lessened my skin exposure. I wore black flats, and my hair was tied in a perfect side braid. It had golden glitters, scattered in every part of my brown hair.

"What the hell?" I mumble. ‘Why am I back here?’ I thought. I felt a sudden weight on my left hand, and saw the book that lulled me to sleep. Staring at it, my head whirled when I heard a velvet voice behind me: a voice that I had grown all too familiar with in a short span of time.

"Elizabeth?"

"Loki?"

We stood there not moving, just looking at each other. This time, he wore a green tunic and black pants, paired with black leather boots. His hair was slicked back, as usual. Though he wore such simple clothes, he still managed to look attractive. He walked up to me, as my hands fall to my sides limply. Okay, my lack of a love life in the past eighteen years has become very troublesome in times like this.

"It is nice to see you again, Elise," he said, taking my right hand whilst lifting it up to his lips and kissed my knuckles ever so gently. I drew in a sharp and embarrassed breath, as he lifted his gaze on me. His lips were so soft. I tear my gaze away from his while pursing my lips to hide my flustered state. When his hands took mine, I felt a jolt that made me almost gasp, but being me afraid of getting embarrassed or along those lines; I simply kept my lips pursed. His hands dropped mine gently, and I sat down at the ground with the grass poking at my dress. I wanted him to hold my hand again, but resisted since I was very confused of why I was reacting this way. 'This is very unlike me,' I think. He sat down beside me, and lay down on the grass, his hands on the back of his head. It was terribly quiet, and I hate quiet. So I decided to bring something up.

"You’re the God of Mischief, huh?" I say casually while gazing at the stars. I looked at him and he was looking at me making me look back at the stars.

"I knew you'd figure out sooner or later," he said, chuckling.

"Yeah, I'm smart, what can I do?" I smirk. I saw him roll his eyes, smiling through my peripheral vision.

"So, you are the master of pranks, mind teaching me one?" I ask playfully with a grin. He stood up in a sitting position looking at me, with a mischievous smirk. But his face started to contort into confusion.

"You believe me?" He asks incredulously. I laughed a little at this. He probably thinks I’m crazy. But then again, I think I’m crazy too. So who am I to judge, right?

"Yes, I do believe you," I exaggerate while raising an eyebrow. I looked at him as he stood up and cross his arms in front of his chest. He looked really sassy. It was rather cute and funny. I’m cuter though.

"And why is that?"

"Uh, because my father is a genius, my mother is also a genius, and I'm a genius too, my whole life is the definition of crazy. And, I like crazy. Crazy is full of adventure. And, my powers have no logical explanation whatsoever," I said remembering some crazy parts of my life. I looked at him and he looked at me skeptically. I giggle a bit and continued, “I think I’m crazy too.”

"Enlighten me," he says, quirking a brow with arms still crossed on his chest.

"Okay, I was 13 years old, and I attempted to do a stunt by jumping at my balcony and fly back up using my telekinesis, it went successful," I say, trailing off. He looked at me knowing there was still more to it. I started to laugh remembering what happened.

"I flew around our house and I stopped at my father's window. But when he saw me, his face was a mix between angry and amazed and it was priceless. I flew back to my balcony and saw dad waiting there, and I kind of brought him with me and dumped him in the sea. He pulled my ankle down before I could fly off. We were so soaked! We had to swim back to shore using my powers and when we went inside, we made a mess around the house and if looks could kill, mom could have killed us when she came home at that exact moment. So out of sheer anger and pity at us, mom made us clean the mess and she forbid us from going to anywhere," I said continuing the story.

"It's more hilarious if you saw it, trust me," I added. He looked to be deep in thought. Then, as if there was light bulb flashing yellow, he snapped his fingers and looked at me.

"Can you show me?" He asks, almost in a rushed manner.

"What?" I ask, a bit flustered and confused.

"Think of that certain memory, then, I'll probe into your mind and see it," he said.

"Are you out of your mind?" I said. Eh, I probably am too. Again, who am I to judge?

"Possibly," he said with a crooked grin on his face. 'That smile. I can't resist that childish grin with those-'

"Does those eyes and grin always work?" I ask trying to sound mad, but really, I was grinning out of amusement. He grinned wider, if that was even possible. This man is a child.

"Yes, it always does," he agrees with a smug look. I give him a whine of protest and sat back down on the grass.

"Okay fine!" This agreement is out of aggravation, remember that. He laughed and sat down on the grass too.

"Look at me," he says while cracking his knuckles. Must he do that? I feel like he’s going to punch me. I shifted and faced him. His hands made their way to both side of my forehead, and massaged slightly. They moved in a circular and almost swirling pattern. His hands were so soft it almost lulled me to sleep.

"Hm, think of that memory, and keep your body poised but relax," he whispered. His voice was so smooth that it sent an unexpected shiver down my spine. I started to think of the certain memory and he whispered a rhyme. Unsurprisingly, it was in a foreign language. The incantation (I suppose is what it’s called) was slightly familiar though. I can catch a few Norwegian phrases here and there.

For a few moments, I felt nothing. But after a few seconds, I can see a bright flash even with my eyes closed. And there I was, seeing myself from a distance while staring at my 13 year old self die of boredom.

I sat down on my rotating chair back in my room, in Malibu California. I was starting to get bored in designing the framework of my new computer program that I groaned in frustration and started to bang my head on the table.

"I'm so bored!” I drag out the last word out of aggravation, and well, boredom.

"You are correct, it is more amusing watching," Loki says beside me with an amused look on his face. I punched his shoulder and he yelped in surprise.

"Laugh all you want, I was bored, okay?" I defend myself. I turned my attention back on my 13 year old self.

I stopped midway in banging my head when an idea hit me. It was crazy, but worth the shot.

'By crazy do you mean possibly falling to your death? Then yes, it is crazy, but worth the shot? Are you out of your mind!?' my consciousness practically exclaimed. I giggle a bit.

'It's going to be fine...' I said waving my consciousness off.

My 13 year old self started to go to the balcony. 13 year old Elise started to jog in place, while taking in deep breaths.

"You reside in Midgard?" I hear Loki ask.

"Yes, now shush, this is the best part," I say waving him off with a shooing motion. I felt him clasp his arm around my gloved arm. It surprised me sure, but the cool sensation his arms gave off from the thin fabric of his tunic and my glove was comfortable that I didn't dare move.

Okay, this was it. I started to do five jumping jacks after jogging in place. Breathing in, I climb on the balcony railing. I bend my knees, and push off. The wind hit my face making my hair sprawl all over. My body was in a starfish-like form with my arms and feet apart. I start to focus on my powers to lift me up. But I was almost near to crash the rocky surface of the sea and I started screaming really loud. 'This is it, my death. Oh God, no!'

"I don't want to die! Crap! Okay! Oh my God! Holy! Ah!" Closing my eyes shut, I start to really focus on what I should do. I need to stop mid-air. I need my mind, my powers, to lift me off and keep me sustained in the air. I focus on my surroundings. I focus on the wind that slaps at my face, the slight mist in the air, the smell of the ocean, the sound of waves crashing, the energy that’s vibrating all around me, and especially the energy that’s running in my veins. I need to focus on that. Energy crawls in my veins and I just let my body push it off. I release all of that tense energy and somehow, I don’t feel the wind slapping my face anymore. There was a breeze, but it wasn’t harsh. Slowly opening my eyes, I let out a sigh of relief when I saw myself levitating a few feet high above the very spiky rock.

"Oh my God I didn’t die! Oh my God I didn’t die!"

I heard 13 year old Elise scream out. Laughing, I started to remember what I did next.

"I believe I can fly! I believe I can touch the sky! I can! Yeah! Whoop whoop!" I started to test out my new found ability. Little by little, I got the hang of moving mid-air while trying to focus on keeping it that way. When I was confident I wouldn’t fall, I laugh out loud and do some dance moves in the air. There was a bit of cha-cha, tango, aerobics, and even some Asian street dancing in the mix.

"What in Hel are you doing?" Loki asked referring to my 13 year old self while laughing. I was laughing hysterically, too. I mean, come on! Who wouldn't laugh at me doing stupid dance moves in the air?

"It was the first thing that popped in my mind! And, it's really fun!"

Flying to where I assumed dad's window is, I giggle when I see him. I knock on his window and when he saw me, I waved and laughed at his face that was stunned and horrified. He darted out of his room and ran to my room. I was laughing hysterically to notice dad yelling at me to get down. Of course, I was feeling very mean and evil right now. I pulled off my best scary face and purposely let myself loose balance. Making myself fall on purpose, I yelled, "Dad! I'm falling!" I didn’t see his reaction since I was moving fast.

He started to run to the railing while I hid below the balcony and used my aquatic powers to make a splash form on the ocean floor. Of course I made sure to do it fast so that it can look real and believable.

13 year old Elise hid below the balcony floor while dad yelled for her.

"You know, I like that trick of yours. Very cruel but amusing,” Loki says while applauding slowly, with his arms detached from mine, sadly.

"Elizabeth Anthony Stark! Do not play tricks on me! Elise! Shit! Baby?! Shortcake! In this height she would have fell in the water in a short span of time, oh God what in hell crossed her mind to do that?!" I heard dad yell, his voice cracking at the end. I felt a pang of guilt, and decided to show myself and lighten the mood.

'And, so that your father can know you're alive and not dead,' my consciousness added. I flew in front of dad quietly, to see him on his knees, head hung low and hands gripping the metal railing. At this sight, I smiled. Everybody thinks that dad was always full of himself. But looking at him now, he looks so selfless. He looked vulnerable. I don't know what's dad weakness is (if he has one, that is), but I know damn enough that it would kill him to know I died because I fooled around. And I'm also damn sure that mom would personally arrange his funeral and personally kill my dad when she knew whatever transpired.

'You wish! Your dad will be the one arranging your funeral if he knew you pranked him,' my consciousness reasoned. I looked at dad and smiled mischievously.

"Aw! Daddy," I sniffled, wiping imaginary tears, "You do care!"

His head whipped at my direction, tears fighting to stream down his face. From sadness, to relief, to confusion, and to anger, he stood up and pulled my ankle down to the ground. Considering I was flying near the railing, my feet were a few inches from the rail.

Dad pushed me to the ground and I complied. He gripped my shoulder and shook me back and forth, making me feel a bit dizzy.

"What the actual hell, Elizabeth!? I swear! If you pull that fucking trick again, I will personally kill you! What crossed your mind to do that!? Pepper would kill me! Oh God! What if your biological mother returned and found out you died because you thought of flying using your telekinetic powers that you know  you still don't have control over!? She would kill me! What if you fell?! You'll leave me alone! I'll never forgive myself!" Dad yelled at me. Throughout all of this, I kept quiet, but with a hint of a smile in my face. Then, he unexpectedly hugged me and placed his cheek on my head. Hugging back, I smiled and buried my head into his chest. God, I love my dad.

"Please, don't do that again? You're the only family I have, okay?" Dad whispered while I felt his tears on my shoulder. I nodded. Dad buried his head in the crook of my neck, all the while sniffling and pressing a kiss on the top of my head.

"Sorry dad," I reply as I breathed in his scent.

13 year old Elise and dad hugged. I watched, remembering how much I love my dad and his warm embrace. God, dad is the greatest dad in the world.

Then, 13 year old Elise lifted dad up in the sky along with her and dad started shouting and yelling curse words. Elise laughed but made sure to have a steady grip on dad's arm. I laughed too.

"Don't wriggle too much! I don't want to drop you into the ocean!"

"Put me down young lady! You promised to stop scaring the shit out of me!"

"No I didn't! I just said sorry not 'I promise'!" I say while gripping dad's arm as I flew a few feet away from home.

"Just put me down!"

"Are you sure?!"

"Yes!"

"Really?!" I ask, loosening my grip.

"Put me down!" And, I let go.

"Wait! No! No! Fuck!"

Dad yelled when his body collided with the water. It made a splash and it sure was a big one.
Loki and I were laughing our ass of, just like 13 year old Elise. I clutched my stomach and wiped actual tears in my eyes.

"That memory never gets old," I said still in fits of laughter.

"You are quite a very good prankster, I guarantee you that," Loki commented.

"Thank you, I pride myself in knowing pranks and doing it and pissing my dad off," I say, with the signature Stark smirk.

"Oh really?"

"Yes, yes I do. Now shut up and watch."

"Why would you drop me?!" Dad yelled after he wiped his face with his hand. I gave him a 'What-The-Hell-Look'.

"Technically, I didn't drop you! I ‘put you down’, just like you said," I defend myself while raising my arms in surrender.

"Why you-" Dad took a grip on my ankle again with both his hands and -unfortunately- pulled me in the ocean too. I surfaced and wiped my face with my hand, my hair now damp.

"What is it with you and pulling my ankle?!" I yelled, spraying dad with water. He glared at me and sprayed me back with water.

"It's called revenge honey, learn it," he says with his signature snarkiness.

"Revenge my ass," I said spraying him with more water using my powers.

Dad and 13 year old Elise sprayed each other with water and after a few minutes, they decided to swim back to shore, with 13 year old Elise's powers. When they reached the shore, they did their best to keep dry. While they walked to the entrance of the mansion, they kept on insulting each other in any way possible.

"JARVIS! Open the gates please!" I yelled and the gates opened automatically. We stepped inside and JARVIS opened the glass door.

"Sir, Miss, I'm afraid the two of you should get a head start on taking a shower while I vacuum and heat press the floor. Miss Potts will be arriving in 10 minutes and 03 seconds," JARVIS informed. Dad and I looked at each other and gave each other an equally horrified expression.

Loki and I got pulled into the house with an unknown force. I assume it’s magic. While JARVIS informed 13 year old Elise and dad to get a head start, both of them ran upstairs to get a shower, while JARVIS vacuumed all of the sand and water that came from the two.

"Who was that talking?" Loki asked while looking around the house, a bit wary and confused.

"Oh, that was JARVIS, he is a computerized butler, so he has no physical element or form," I explain in the most easy way possible for him to understand. Loki nodded his head. Although I didn’t know if he understood or if he just agreed out of not wanting to confuse himself.

"I see, but what did your father mean by 'your actual mother'? Is it not Pepper, I believe is her name, your actual mother?" he asked.

"Oh! Pepper is my father's business assistant, but the two of them aren't in a relationship in this timeline, but in my original timeline dad and Pepper are in a relationship. My biological mother dropped me off on my father's front door back when I was a year old. Growing up, I treated Pepper as my mom even though I knew that the two of them weren't in a relationship. I guess we all kind of knew that dad and mom back then had this spark that they didn't know of. So yeah, I treat Pepper as my mom, even though we're not related in blood. But trust me; she's fun to be around. Even though sometimes she practically drags me to stores to buy me new clothes and I have to latch on dad so that she can't take me with her but that’s still useless because dad like to watch me suffer," I answer making him laugh a bit at the last part.

"So, you're not bothered by the fact that-" he was cut off when we heard a feminine gasp and shriek.

"What in heavens happened in here?!" I hear my mom yell from the middle of the stairs where dad and I stood. Dad was a few steps behind me and we both froze in our spots. Dad may seem like he's not at all scared of mom but deep inside, when he hears this mother-like scream the both of us know that we have awakened the spirit of a raging woman.

"Elizabeth and Anthony Stark! Get your butts down here right now!" Dad and I started to descend the stairs, my hair still trailing wet drops of water on the floor. When dad and I was at the end of the staircase, we walked cautiously towards mom.

"H-Hi Mom..." I practically curled dead on my feet at that moment.

"Hi Pepper," Dad says in a nonchalant tone while mine was a scared and trembling tone.

"JARVIS, stop cleaning, please," mom orders in a tired and frustrated tone. The floor and wall suctions stopped and JARVIS responded with a quiet ‘of course’. The living room was still a mess. Sand and water was everywhere. Mom pinched the bridge of her nose, and tilted her head back with a heavy sigh. It was obvious she was tired.

"Don't 'hi mom’ ‘hi Pepper' me you two. What happened here?!" She exclaims while plopping herself down on the couch and taking her heels off.

"Uhm..."

"Uhh..." We literally can’t say anything.

"Never mind, just- just clean the mess," she instructs in a tired tone. She rubs her hands on her face and sighs again.

"Are you bossing me around?" Dad asks, raising a brow at her. Oh God, not now dad. We’re already in a lot of trouble. "As far as I'm concerned, you’re just an assistant," dad continues. Not a great idea, dad.  Mom looked at dad and glared at him.

"Yes, I am. But you also gave me the job of taking care of your daughter because you are a busy man doing your job! But what the hell is this! I'm tired from work and I agreed on staying over for the night but when I get here I’m greeted by a messy living room that was spotless when I left this morning!" She says, with her voice rising in volume at every word. Mom threw her heels at dad but missed us by just an inch. ‘Oh God, Mom has her period today,' I think out of fear and surprise at the white five inch heels that just whizzed past me. The five inch high heel missed dad by a fraction but I know it scared the shit out of him.

"Look, I'm sorry okay? But the one who caused this mess is Elise not me," dad retorts while pointing at me then him. I gave him a betrayed look on my face and shoved his shoulders with a glare.

"You’re the one who told me to let you go!" I reasoned with a glare.

"You should have told me I was going to land on clear blue water!" I roll my eyes at my dad’s stupidity.

"It was so obvious! We were just flying a few feet above it!"

"Wait, wait! Hold on! Stop right there! 'Flying above it'?! What do you mean by flying?" Mom asked in a concerned and angry voice.

"I learned that I could fly using my telekinetic powers," I say really quickly, excitement and adrenaline rushing back to me as the idea of a new ability finally sunk in. Mom looked at me with a surprised and concerned face, but there was a hint of amazement and pride that I absolutely love.

"Really? Did you get hurt?" Mom asks, walking up to me and checking my face for any wounds. I looked over at dad to see he had a 'Why-the-hell-are-you-siding-with-her?' look. While mom checked my arm for scratches and wasn't looking, I stuck a tongue at dad and he did the same. God, we are such children. I internally laugh at this.

"I'm fine mom," I say in reassurance.

"Thank God," she mumbles in relief, hugging me then letting go. She looked at dad and glared at him. After that, she made us clean the house and forbid is from getting in all of the labs in the house. Ugh. Mom, dad, and I spent the whole night watching movies after that.

Loki laughed at mine and dad's face. He made me show him a new crazy memory which I gladly did.

"I like her," Loki says out of the blue beside me, referring to my mom and I gave him my 'What-the-hell?' look.

"Ew! Dude! That's my mom you're talking about!" I make a gagging face while looking at him with a crinkly nose like I smell stinky cheese.

"Oh my Norns, not like that!" he shakes his head furiously while laughing. I relaxed and let out a breath.

"Phew! I thought you were serious."

"I have my eyes set on someone,” I felt my smile falter a bit but stayed. “And, what I meant was I like your mother's aura. An aura of respect and control but with leadership and kindness," he compliments while nodding his head slowly at my words. I sigh in appreciation at his words. He’s right. My mom is very amazing.

"My mom would love to hear that, so on behalf of my mother I thank you," my voice was laced in seriousness but I curtsied with playfulness. He chuckled and bowed his head in my direction.

"You're welcome, now shush and watch," he said.

"Hey! That’s my line!"
