Chapter Twenty-Nine
Riley Matthews

"Hello, Farkle!" My dad greeted my friend as he opened up the front door after it had been knocked on several times.

Of course Maya told my family about her plan to get Farkle to help us figure out who had actually ran her over. It was now the next day and my school had probably just ended about twenty minutes ago.

    "Hi, Farkle!" My mom and brother, Auggie greeted him, suddenly appearing at the door as well.

    "Hey, Matthews family!" Farkle replied, "Riley invited me over here. She said that she wants to talk to me about something. She wanted me to come over yesterday, but I was running errands with my family and was unable to do so."

    "Oh, we know," Dad replied, "Riley told us everything yesterday."

    "Oh, so do you know what she wants to talk with me about?"

    "Yes, we do," Mom answered, nodding her head.

    "And what is it?"

    "Oh, you'll see," Auggie told Farkle.

    "Oh ok... Anyways, where is she?"

    Instead of answering him, my family just smirked. That's when I began to type on the computer that I was on, which could be perfectly seen from where Farkle was standing.

    "Hey, Farkle!" I typed onto the Word document that I was currently on.

    Because Farkle was standing so far away, I had to write it in size 48 font so that he could see it. Farkle's mouth dropped to the floor. He had obviously been watching me as I had been typing my message into the computer. Except for he was not watching me. He was watching the computer. Farkle cannot see me because I am in limbo just like everybody else, except for Maya.

    "Gah! Wh-hat th-the? Farkle gasped, not being able to form words, "Did you guys see that?!?!"

    "See what?" Auggie questioned.

    "Your computer! I don't know how it's possible, but your computer just typed, 'Hey, Farkle!' all by itself! How does it know my name? Computers like yours aren't capable of recognizing certain people!"

    "Silly Farkle, it wasn't the computer who wrote that!" Dad laughed, "Computers can't type anything by themselves!"

    "I know, that's why I said that I don't know how- Wait, if it wasn't computer, then what was it?"

    "Don't you mean, 'who was it'?" Maya typed into her computer, which was the one next to mine.

    Farkle's jaw flew open. "Oh my gosh, now your other computer is doing it! I-It said, 'don't you mean, 'who was it'?' It's trying to hint that someone— a real person— wrote that! But how!?!?"

    All of the sudden, Farkle turned around towards my family. "Are any of you somehow behind this!?!? Are you guys trying to prank me!?!? If so, then it didn't work because I figured out your little scheme!"

    "We're not pranking you, Farkle!" Mom laughed.

    "Yeah, that's Riley and Maya!"

    Farkle's eyes widened. "Riley and Maya?!?! But Maya's been out of school for months now because she's in a coma! Did Riley put you up to say that? Did she invite me over here just because she thought up of an excellent prank and wanted to pull it on me?!?! Ok, I believe that Riley might have rigged your computer somehow and is writing that from a distance, but not Maya! She's in a coma! How the heck would she be able to type on a computer?!?!"

    "Farkle, Maya isn't in a coma anymore," Auggie stated.

    Farkle's eyes widened. "She's not!?!?"

    "Well, in a sense she is, but her and Riley are both in a limbo-like state," Dad began, "Riley didn't rig our computers nor is she trying to prank you. She would never do that! In fact, her and Maya are actually sitting at those two computers right now. We just can't see or hear them because they're in limbo."

    "H-h-how i-is th-th-that p-possible!?!?"

    Mom sighed. "We honestly don't know."

    Farkle looked flabbergasted. He violently shook his head as if he was trying to shake something off, then pivoted around. "Alright, since I'm already confused enough, I'm going to stop questioning you guys and start questioning 'Riley and Maya'."

    Farkle marched over towards the two computers that Maya and I were currently sitting at. "Alright, if you two are really Riley and Maya, then prove it!" He began, "Riley, what's the name of the imaginary friend that I used to have when I was seven-years-old?"

    "Mr. Fluffybuns!" I quickly wrote, "You told me that he was a huge, pink bunny who always used to keep onions in his pocket to keep the vampires away for you!"

    Farkle looked at the computer, stunned. "Riley, it is you!" He finally cried.

    "Farkle!"

    "You had a imaginary friend named, Mr. Fluffybuns, when you were seven-years-old?!?!" Maya typed into her computer, "HA, THAT'S HILARIOUS!!! How come you never told me?!?!"

    "Because, Maya," Farkle began, turning his attention towards Maya's computer, "I knew that you would make fun of you, just like how you did a few seconds ago."

    "Maya? So you believe us now?!?! You believe that it's me?"

    "Oh yeah that's right, I gotta ask another question for Maya now..."

    Farkle thought for a moment. "Maya, how much does my mother's wedding ring weigh?"

    "Farkle, now what kind of question is that?!?!" Dad asked.

    "Two ounces!" Maya responded almost instantly.

    Farkle looked flabbergasted once again. "Th-that's correct... It does weigh two ounces!"

    All of our jaws hit the floor.

    "So that means...," Farkle began, drifting off. All of the sudden, his face lit up. "MAYA!!! IT IS YOU!!! IT REALLY IS YOU AND RILEY!!!"

    "Maya, how the heck do you know how much Farkle's mother's wedding right weighs?!?!" Mom asked.

    "Because when we had our 'wedding', I asked him in private how much the ring he gave me, his mother's wedding ring, weighed, and that's what he told me," Maya answered.

    "Wedding? You and Farkle are married!?!?" I gasped in a jokingly manner, "I thought that we were dating! How could you cause me such a heartbreak?!?!"

    Knowing that I was only joking, Maya let out a giggle. "Don't worry, I divorced him a long time ago."

    "Oh, thank goodness!" I exclaimed, pretending to let out a relieved sigh.

    Maya giggled and leaned in to give me a short but sweet kiss, causing me to blush.

    "I could never love anybody else like the way I love you, honey," she told me before kissing me again, "You're my one and only."

    I giggled as I blushed. "I love you, Maya."

    "I love you too, Riley."

    This time, I was the one who leaned in. I gave Maya a kiss before returning to my family and Farkle.

    "So, is it true that you two are in limbo?" Farkle asked.

    "Yes, it is," I typed onto my computer.

    "Interesting. What happened to make you guys go into it exactly?"

    "It's a long story," Maya typed into her computer.

    Farkle quickly glanced down at his new, shiny, black watch. "Well, I have plenty of time to listen to it. And since you two are in limbo and probably can't do as much you used to be able to, you have plenty of time to tell it."

    "True...," Maya and I both wrote at the same exact time.

    "Alright, so do you want to start the story off, or do you want me to do it?" Maya asked, turning towards me.

    I thought for a moment. "I think that you should start it off because you were in limbo, and I wasn't. I'll chime in once you get to the part where you go into my dream cloud."

    "Ok," Maya agreed as she turned back around so that she was facing her computer and keyboard.

    "Alright, so here's what happened, Farkle...," Maya began to write.

A/N: Hello, readers! I was gonna make this chapter longer, but I decided to end it here since it would take me awhile to write the rest of what I wanted to write! And, I wanted to update as soon as possible since I took EXTREMELY long to finally write this chapter! I apologize for taking so long. I ended up having to study for two tests and one quiz this week. 😬 On top of that, I was given a TON of homework! 😬😬😬 Also, yesterday, I had to attend something for my best friend and I did not get home until late last night because I went out to eat dinner with her family at a restaurant afterwards. We had lots of fun though! 😃 Let's just say that her family is really entertaining. 😂😂😂

Oh, and before I go, I just wanted to say that I don't know when I'm going to be able to update next because I'm going to be busy in school next week because I have to prepare for something called Think Day, which is on March 12th(exactly one week from today). Think Day is a day where a bunch of teams from different schools in my county get together in one school and have to compete against each other by answering trivia questions. Also, I am leaving for vacation on March 20th. I'm not coming back until April 2nd and because I'll probably have some make-up work to do, I might not be able to update until a few days after that. But, my mom sent all of my teachers an email, telling them about our vacation and asking them to give me the make-up work in advance if they can, and my science teacher said that I'm probably not gonna miss much in class because she thinks that there's gonna be a lot of school activities going on during the week that I will be gone for. Plus, I'm only missing three days anyways, so I probably have that much to make-up. But, I will try my best to update again this week or the week after so I don't have to leave you guys hanging for so long! I'll probably be able to get another update or two in before April, but if I don't, then I am so sorry.
