Chapter 10

I have a plan. And it's getting put into action. So over the course of the next two weeks I set my plan into action.

Getting Alan to befriend everyone was the easiest of everyone. So he was the person I sat my sights on first.

Well that... and that he helped drastically in getting Caleb and Kelsey to talk more than just a few awkward words at a time. The rest went easily between those two after that, because of the connection they have.

I also appreciated having Alan and Caleb around for getting a friendship started between Joey and Chad. You see I invited them over to my house. Then... I made the mistake of getting a board game out for all of us to play. There was only one green playing piece. You can guess how things played out from there.

With friendships forming between the yet to be Anthem Lights guys. I got to work on helping Kelsey and Jamie to be friends again. Thankfully with help from Shane, Moriah, Uncle John, and a peculiar secretary team that called themselves Brandisa (okay... well he called them that, she just rolled her eyes). It worked, it wasn't easy, but it was totally worth it.

I've been practicing music at home with Shane, Moriah, & Jamie. They all are starting to believe in themselves and the music that has such a solid place in them.

So.... that brings me to today. I set up a youth event (although it's technically for all ages) and all my musician friends are playing. And maybe... maybe even me too. I'm so excited.

"Laya?" A knock sounds on the open door of the teen Sunday School room where I've been writing, thinking, & praying.

"Oh. Hey. Joey." I look up, and smile at him.

"It's great what you've been doing lately. Honestly, I had wondered why I had music abilities if God didn't want me to use them." He clasps his hand around mine, then kisses my cheek. "Thanks a million, Laya."

After Joey left, I decided I had better make my way to the stage & see how everyone was doing.

Alan told me about a song he had written and asked whether he should see if the other guys would be interested in singing it with him. I smiled knowingly, as I told him to go for it.

The concert practically soared right on by, it went great. A bit bittersweet, but worth it all the while. Several people even came up and got saved, a few others rededicated their lives to Christ.

Oh. And afterwards I even saw my "siblings" talking to some people.  Shane was grinning as he spoke to a blond haired girl, and Moriah was blushing as a guy with a funny accent talked to her. ;)

I was leading some of the youth out to the church bus to head back home, when a kid cried, "Look out!" Something hard hit me in the side of the head, and everything went dark as I went out cold.

****

I blinked my eyes rapidly a few times in the harsh light overhead. A hospital room ceiling stared back at me.

"Thank goodness your okay, Laya!" My parents rushed over to my bed.

My breath caught. It hadn't been real. I had been knocked on and had just dreamt everything. A tear trickled down my cheek, unexpected. In one way I was grateful it hadn't really happened, yet still another part of me regretted that the adventures I had experienced where just from my imagination.

"Laya?" A doctor in his white coat stood at the door.

"Yes, sir?" I asked, still a bit dazed.

"We are just going to run a few short test and send you on your way." He smiled. "Just about another hour here and you can go home."

"Thanks." I murmured and went through the tests. I checked out perfectly fine. Like I hadn't even been hit in the head.

I headed back to my hospital room to gather my things. On the table next to the bed sat a few things that looked to have been sent to me as a "get well" present. I stopped short and just stared at the items.

The first thing I spotted was a green game piece, then a book, coffee coupons, and guitar picks. Then my eyes traveled up a jade green crystal vase to a single red rose.

The note attached read,

"Laya,

Thanks a million for making a change for God.

Love,

Joseph (Joey)"

...

I though itt had all been just a dream. Or had it?

THE END

Sorry for sort of an abrupt ending there. But lately I have been being stressed about having these stories just hanging there. I knew how I wanted the story to end, but had no more details. So I just went for it.

I hope you enjoyed, "Just A Dream?".

God bless and have a great day!
