Chapter 4: Down and Adorable

Allison came to Jason's house. Jason was worried about what she would think.

Will she like my sister? Will she like the house? What if she's mean to my sister? Should I have invited her?

Jason sighed. His five-year-old sister with Down syndrome was adorable to him, but to some, she might be annoying.

"Jason! Come help Jada with her homework!"

"Okay!" Jason went to Jada, who needed him to read with her. He helped her with words she couldn't understand and explained their meanings again. Then, the doorbell rang.

"Sorry, Jada, I need to get that real quick."

Jada nodded. Jason went to the door and opened it to see Allison.

"Hey!" He said.

"Hi!" She said.

He brought her into the house. "I need to help my sister, Jada, with her homework, I'll be right back."

"Okay." Allison followed him.

The first thing she saw when she entered the room was Jada. The second thing she saw was the different looking face. Allison jumped.

"Don't worry, it's just my sister," Jordan explained.

Allison calmed down and sat next to the two. She couldn't stop looking at Jada. To be honest, it was a little scary at first, but as Allison got used to it, she found herself beginning to like the child.

"And the bunny ate the... ate the..." Jada looked at Jason.

"Ate the carrot."

"Ate the carrot. He ran away, but couldn't fit through the fence. The fa... far..."

"Farmer."

"The farmer caught the bunny, but the bunny had an idea. He jumped off the farmer's head over the fence. He ran home, full and ha... happy... He ran home full and happy. The end."

"Good job, Jada!" Jason smiled. Jada smiled back. Allison pulled out her math homework. "Are you ready, Jason?"

Jason nodded. The two did their math together, and once they got it finished, they put it away. Jada went to find Jason's mom.

"So... What happened?" Allison asked.

"What do you mean?" Jason asked, confused.

"You know, your sister."

Jason nodded. He almost always got this question. "Well, She has something called Down Syndrome. It makes her look different and makes it harder for her to learn." Allison nodded.

"Okay, that makes sense."

Jason nodded. "Anyway, let's find something to do."

Allison thought for a moment. "Hm... We could draw?"

Jason smiled. "Yeah, let's do that."

They drew together, listening to music. Eventually, Jada joined, and the three listened to calm music, drawing together to their hearts' content
