Two-Junior
One day in junior year stood above the rest.
The day I met my biological parents.
Mom made it a surprise. She had been planning it for years.
My biological father's name is David. He's 25% black, 75% white, and almost six feet tall. He has short black hair, and blue/green eyes like me.
My biological mother's name is Katherine. She's about as pale as a piece of paper. She was only five foot two, but I could tell she had a lot of attitude. Her hair was to her shoulders, and was a light brown, just like her eyes.
I didn't get to spend much time with them. They lived in Africa, and have three children. I was their first. Katherine had me at nineteen, and she said she wasn't ready to have a kid. I said it was fine. She was sweet. David didn't talk much, but I could tell he was kind. It was in his eyes--Mom did always say I had kind eyes.
I talked about it with Caden for days. He couldn't relate, but he was as curious as he had been when he was a kid.
Then it was time to submit applications for college.
Mom was worried because Caden, Nick, and Anne were all applying to different colleges than me. I wanted to go to Davidson College--it was a small liberal arts college. We went to the tour, and I fell in love.
Caden was applying for Harvard. He really wanted to go there. He was fantastic at school, and loved Massachusetts. It was the perfect fit.
Both Nick and Anne wanted to go to the University of Oregon. It was one of the few places they could agree they loved, and they didn't want to even try long distance.
One of the best days of my life might have been getting accepted to Davidson. In fact, we all got into our main schools.
College certainly had a rough start. Besides Mom and Papa crying as I stepped out of the car, I found most people had friends they were going with.
It wasn't until January that year that I finally found my group. There was a girl named Anna, a girl named Sarah, a guy named DJ, and his twin Sophia.
Let me say something; Anna was the cutest girl ever. She was skinnier and better looking than me, and I wasn't convinced that I had any chance with her. But, that didn't stop me from having the biggest crush on her ever. DJ knew, but neither Anna nor Sarah knew. DJ always found a way to make fun of me for it, but he vowed to not let either girl know. And he didn't.
