It feels weird to be laughing. I'm in a parallel universe, may or may not be dreaming along with everyone next to me, and yet...I'm laughing with my twin sister.
It's nice though; we haven't been together in so long.
And even if we're inside a room packed with the only surviving people on the planet...it still feels good to laugh.
Speaking of the only surviving people on the planet...
Colton is right behind me, and I can feel his eyes tracking my every move. It's kind of creepy, actually, but he's really sweet, so I know he's just concerned about me.

Ok, I'm a little weirded out by myself. I was told less than 24 hours ago that aliens and zombies have taken over the earth, and my parents are most likely dead...
And yet I'm obsessing over a boy.
What has happened to me?
But then I catch sight of Colton talking to Zack, and I don't care.

He's been looking at me from across the room, sneaking little glances when he thinks I'm not watching. Kylie and Derek see him, though, and so do I. Every time his eyes land on me, my mouth quirks up in a smile. Every time his eyes land on me, Kylie frowns. Every time his eyes land on me, Derek looks away.

12:30 PM

He's finally come up to me. We're talking and taking and talking, about nothing and nothing and nothing. I don't care that our conversation is completely meaningless. Why should I? I don't care that Derek is shooting daggers with his eyes, or that Kylie is looking perplexed. Why should I? I don't care, so I turn away from them.

1:30 PM

"You have something in your hair," Colton tells me, his eyes laughing. I reach around my back and try to get it, but I don't feel anything.
"Here, let me help you."
I see him draw around so he is facing my back, feel his fingers graze my arm, and then a sharp, fierce pain hits the crook of my elbow. It's pain unlike anything I've ever felt before. I scream out, and turn around. My arm is soaked in blood, and so are his teeth, which have suddenly sharpened and turned red with my blood, standing out against his pale, pale skin. Too pale.
"Vampire!" I hear a voice that I vaguely recognize as Derek's before I black out.

I am awake

Slowly, I regain my conciseness.
Feeling the soft surface below me, I realize that I am on some sort of bed.
I'm not quite ready to open my eyes yet, afraid of what I might see.
I try to recall why I'm here.
I remember Derek carrying me...why was he carrying me? Kylie was running , sobbing...
Colton! Suddenly I sit up so fast that my head starts spinning and a wave of nausea overtakes me. He's a vampire! He bit me!
