I haven't been talking to John lately, and that worried me because he always texts me when he gets out of school.

So, I decided to call him.

It rang once.

Twice.

Three times.

"Hello?" A voice came on the speaker. It sounded groggily, and kind of sad.

"H-hey! John, is that you?" I asked, excited to talk to freckles.

"duh, who else the fuck would it be? My mom?" He choked out a sad laugh.

I furrowed my eyes, concerned.

"Hey, babe?" I ask, cautious.

"Mhm," he responded, clearly tired.

"Are you alright? You seem a bit off." I said, picking my nails.

"Of course I'm alright. Just tired, is all.." Okay. He was clearly lying.

"John, I know you're lying. Your tone in your voice changes when you lie. You better speak up now, or forever hold your piece." Okay, I know. Now is not the time to joke around, but I gotta lighten up the mood a little bit, right?

John sighed, and told me something that made my heart stop.

"Listen, I just want some space right now, okay? I think we need to give each other some space for a little bit. Okay? Bye, Alex. I'll talk to you when I'm ready." He hung up.

It was silent.

The streets, the tv, the house itself.

I just stared at the wall i know disbelief.

John? He loves me! Why does he want some space?

I sigh.

Ya know, maybe he just wants to be alone for a little bit.

Ya know, to reflect his feelings? To think to himself?

I get it, I do that a lot.

Sometimes to the point where I push people out of my life temporarily.

I flopped down on the bed, and curled up into a ball.

Tomorrow is gonna be hell.

Sorry for the short chapter, I promise the next few chapters are gonna get real suspenseful.

So, these next few chapters wil be leading up to the end of this book.

Some of you already know, but for those of you who DON'T, after this book, will be the sophomore year.

So I am making 4 more books.

Sophomore year, junior year, senior year, and a prologue that shows John's life as a middle schooler.

The reason this book is called jump, and the reason senior year is technically the last book before the series end, is um, you'll find out ; )

But this book will define you get sadder and sadder until John breaks~
