Talk With The Dead

"Assitant Kang, you're finally here. I need you to take these paper down the hall," Jumin said, having noticed Jaehee was late for work but not drawing attention to it. He continued his work for a moment before looking up to her to see that she was frozen where she stood, tears falling freely and blinking at him in disbelief. "What is it? What's wrong?" He asked as he got up to make his way over to her but she backed away.

"You... You can see me," Jaehee said, causing Jumin to tilt his head in confusion. What did she mean?

"Yes, I've been able to see you this whole time. Why? What's wrong with you?" He asked.

"I'm dead," She said. Of all the words she could of said, those were the ones she chose. His first emotion was anger.

"What? No you aren't. You're right here! This isn't a funny joke," Jumin said in a harsh tone. Jaehee wasn't one to joke like this so why would she start now? "Stop playing around! It's not entertaining,"

"I'm not," She said as her voice finally became shaky to match her tears. Jumin's anger did not subside.

"You aren't dead, Assistant Kang," Jaehee stayed silent. "Assitant Kang, I am talking to you!" Silence. "Jaehee! Answer me when I speak to you!" He said and Jaehee opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by a worker.

"M-mr. Han? What are you doing? Are you okay? You're shouting," She was a nervous co-worker who was always cautious, afraid of Jumin all the time.

"Get out," He said. She nodded and closed the door. He stared at Jaehee with a glare of sorts. "You're not dead," He denied.

"I am,"

"You're not!" He shouted at her again. He didn't like this. He moved to touch her to prove his point that she's not dead but his hand passed right though her. He stared at the spot that he tried to touch and tried not to cry. Jaehee wasn't dead, she couldn't be. He saw her just last night! He could still touch her just last night! She was alive last night! He couldn't decide which emotion to feel at the moment. All of them were coming out except for the positive ones. "You're not dead!" He shouted as tears fell down his cheeks and his knees gave out. He was angry, sad and he still couldn't believe a word she said. He tried his best to wipe away the tears only to feel new warm ones falling. "Jaehee," he whimpered as if he couldn't see her. She was sat on the ground as well, looking at him with extreme sadness.

"Mr. Han," She smiled, trying to assure him that she's okay.

"No,"

"Jumin," She said, trying to catch his attention. He still didn't look at her, he couldn't bring himself to. "Jumin!" She raised her voice from her usual gentle one. She pushed him on his shoulder gently but all Jumin could feel was a cold chill. "Jumin Han!" She finally shouted at him. He still couldn't look at her. She grabbed a hold of his face and forced him to look at her. She could still touch him but it was very very cold. "Mr. Han..." She said in a gentle voice again.

"Don't call me that, please don't call me that," He said. He didn't like that she still called him that even if she was dead. "You can't leave," He said.

"I died-"

"No!"

"You have to hear it!" She stayed silent for a moment to hear his reply. When none came, she continued. "I died just this morning. As cliché as it sounds, a car crash had caused it," Jumin could only feel guilt. While he was working and waiting for her she was dead, having been in a car collision. He wanted to hurt the person who caused it. She didn't deserve this, she really didn't. Not in his opinion. "Stop making that face," She said with humor in her voice. She was trying to make him feel better but only made it worse.

"You are alive," That was all he could say. His denial was all he had now.

"You are an intelligent man, Mr. Han. You know I'm not," She said. He didn't notice the tears until they blurred his vision. He cursed them but only because they blocked him from watching Jaehee and making sure she didn't disappear from him.

"You can't. You aren't," He said again. Jaehee just shook her head.

"Jumin... You know already," She said, looking at him with a worried expression. Suddenly, Jumin's father came in, seeing his son on the floor, crying his eyes out but still staring at seemingly nothing.

"Then.. I guess you have heard.." He said. Jumin stayed silent for a moment.

"Say it," Jumin said. He wanted to hear whatever it was, still hanging on with a sliver of hope that Jaehee was just playing a cruel joke on him.

"Your assitant died today at 8:30 AM. I would have been here sooner but the car crash held me up. Pity. She worked well with you. She was an assitant that you actually got along with. I guess, a new one is in order,"

"No!" He shouted, causing his father to look at him in disbelief at his outburst.

"Do not shout at me,"

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry," Jumin said, finally looking at his father. "I'm sorry,"

"It's fine. Just get this whole thing settled," He left. Jumin looked at Jaehee again, willing to give anything just so he could hug her. 'I could have took her place'. He thought. It had surprised him that he thought that but it was true. He kind of wanted to die if it meant she lived.

"I'm not getting another one," Jumin said stubbornly.

"That is your decision but I have seen the work load. It will get hard very fast," Jaehee said. Jumin shook his head.

"I don't want anyone but you,"

A/N: I have nothing to say.
