A Love Like Ours

Jaehee walked into the office, cup of coffee in each hand. It was one of those few times when Jumin opted for coffee instead of wine and he had asked her for one. She walked faster when she realized she had already been gone for a minute too long, worrying over if he was waiting on her or not.

"I'm sorry, sir, but I..." The rest of the sentence died on her lips when she realized Mr. Chairman and another higher official were there with serious expressions on thier faces. It almost seemed like a grim subject was being discussed. She was only gone for a moment...

"Honey, I'm so glad you're here!" Jumin said as he stood up. Jaehee was super confused but even more scared when he gave her a kiss on the cheek and took the coffee. He lingered there for a second and whispered "I'm sorry but please play along,".

"Hello, what's this?" Jaehee said, gesturing to the scene in front of her.

"Well, my son didn't seem to be in a relationship and he needs an heir before he or his partner gets too old. I was going to arrange a marriage but..." Mr. Chairman said and it all clicked. Jumin is trying to use her as a way out of this thing his father was going to set up.

"Yes, well, I already have a fiancee," Jumin said, his voice faltering slightly as he looked at Jaehee for the rest of the story.

"Yes, he's my fiancee and I have never been more in love," Jaehee said, the lie seeming to burn her throat. It was so wierd when she knew she was talking about her boss.

"I see. Well, I hate to be kept in the dark about my son's love life but as long as he's got somebody to give an heir," Mr. Chairman said, his gaze lingering on Jaehee. Jaehee didn't know if Jumin was willing to go that far to keep out of an arranged marriage but it seemed she had already signed up to go along.

"Yes and I'm excited," She said, inwardly gagging.

----------------------

"So how far is this plan going to go?" Jaehee asked once they both were out of there. Jumin sighed before speaking.

"I don't know. I DO know that the woman he wants me to marry is vile and she's such a bad person. I just don't want to be with that forever," Jumin said before continuing, "And I don't want my children to be raised by her," Despite everything, Jaehee smiled at him. He may not have this all down but it was evident he didn't want to have his offspring developing the same traits as whoever this woman was.

"So you've met her,"

"Yes. She is an... inconvenience to my well-being,"

"Okay..." Jaehee said, straightening up. "Do I have any incentive?"

"You have a job and two months of vacation," Two months?! Jumin has never let her go on vacation to begin with but two months seemed too much for her mind to comprehend. Jaehee could tell by the look on his face, though, that he thought it was just enough to make up for his lie.

"Okay," Jaehee said, voice cracking from the amazement she was still in.

---------------------

"So, do your parents know of this secret love?" Mr. Chairman asked Jaehee, seeming to not buy it at all.

"They're dead, sir," She said, hoping this was the end of the discussion. It'd be so much easier if it were.

"How about the rest of your family then?"

"No sir,"

"Then please tell them. Marriage is a big thing that cannot be hidden from family forever," He said. Jaehee groaned internally, already hating the idea of lying to her whole family. Does Jumin even HAVE a plan?! She was beginning to doubt it. It seemed that this lie would truly end up in getting them married to each other.

She shouted in her mind, wondering if Jumin wanted to cut off this marriage or not. If he does then he'd have to marry that other woman anyways, right? This was too much stress and she didn't want to deal with it but here she was, making plans with Jumin to visit her family.

---------------

707: We're all friends, right?

Yoosung: Yes?

707: So why tf don't we know about Jumin and Jaehee dating?! Not only that, they're getting married!

Zen: Wait, what?! You're not serious, right? Is this a weird joke?

Jumin Han: How would you know that? It was just programmed into the company's computers and our profiles. Do you check our profiles daily?

Zen: Its true?!

707: That's not the point. I thought we were best friends.

Jaehee Kang: Forgive us.

Yoosung: Wait, this isn't a prank?

Jaehee Kang: Well...

Jumin Han: Its a marriage that was... impromptu. There's a reason other than love on why we are getting married. No need to worry.

Zen: Marriage should only happen when you love someone!

Jaehee Kang: Are we really getting married, Mr. Han?

Jumin Han: I hope not. I don't want to force you into a marriage with me.

Jaehee Kang: That's the nicest thing you have ever said to me.

Zen: Just that sentence right there is enough to say Jumin could've chose someone who actually WANTED him!

Jumin Han: Jaehee is the only person I really didn't mind marrying. She's trustworthy and knows exactly how to take care of Elizabeth III. She also knows every single bit of important information about me and the company. She's hardworking and gets things done efficiently without reducing quality.

Jaehee Kang: Thank you, Mr. Han. I may be an extraordinary assistant in your eyes but I'm not sure if I'd be a wife to your liking.

Jumin Han: Of course. I never intended for you to be. I will figure something else out.

Yoosung: Wait! You guys have to tell me exactly why you're getting married! What's going on?! Please!!!!!!

--------------------

Only a few days later, headlines starting popping out about both Jumin and Jaehee's soon-to-be wedding. This only caused Jaehee's phone to ring, showing a picture of her cousin, Mina. Mr. Han will have to explain it to everyone.... Jaehee thought as she clicked the answer button on her phone.

"Jaehee?" Mina's voice was quiet, almost it something shocking and groundbreaking had just happened.

"Yes? What's wrong?"

"You... You'RE GETTING MARRIED AND YOU NEVER TOLD ME?! JESUS CHRIST WOMAN, GIVE ME A HEADS UP! LET ME GET A DRESS READY AND I'LL BE YOUR MAID OF HONOR!" She nearly screamed at Jaehee. Jaehee couldn't help but laugh as her cousin rambled on. Mina was always a sweet girl, showing kindness to Jaehee and even becoming jealous because she saw Jaehee as something so much greater than her.

"Oh? I... Well, we didn't really get all the arrangements settled yet. Um... If there's nothing going on, is it possible that I could visit Aunt and Uncle with my fiancé?" Jaehee asked, the new word still sounding strange. To sell the deal even more, Jumin had gotten her a ring that looked like it cost more than her soul. She constantly ran her thumb over it if she were nervous, like now.

"Yes! Of course! Oh my God, I heard you're getting married to Jumin Han. Is it true?" Now Jaehee has known for a while that Mina loves rich men. She's the borderline of the mounds of women Jaehee tells off every day. Though, she also knows that Mina has been trying to get Jaehee married for god knows how long. Thank god she never sent her on a date with her boss. Well... that wouldn't really be something to be disgusted about now. She's getting married to the guy.

"Yes,"

"Fuck! You did it! You did the impossible!" Mina said, hurried congratulations and goodbyes entering her ear before her cousin hung up. Jaehee sat back in her chair and closed her eyes. Now to plan the trip. When was the wedding day again?

-------------------

"Flight 183 is about to take off. If you would please fasten your seatbelts, we will be off shortly," The flight attendant announced as Jumin and Jaehee did as they were told. Jaehee yawned and blinked a couple times in an attempt for the tiredness to dissipate. She looked down at her ring and turned it with her other hand's thumb and forefinger.

"You know," Jumin said, his voice startling her slightly. "You could go to sleep. It was a long night for you, right? Get some sleep," He said, the idea being very appealing to her but she looked at him curiously for a moment. Eventually, she sighed and looked out the window, not exactly intent on going to sleep but inevitably falling asleep on her fiancé's shoulder.

She could've just reclined her chair... Maybe she didn't know that or fell asleep without knowing.... Jumin thought. Either way, he didn't move her.

------------

Almost as soon as they got off the plane, journalists from this part of the area wanted to get an interview, wanted to confirm thier marriage and wanted to ask many more questions about the two. Damn... This is even bigger than Mr. Chairman's new girlfriend... Jaehee thought before grabbing Jumin's hand and pushing her way through the crowd. She was at least kind enough to confirm the engagement but decline the marriage, saying they weren't married yet.

Jaehee remembers that when she had first started working for Jumin, these things were regular. The only exception was that she had declined everything and the questions were about thier 'secret romance'. Past Jaehee would possibly be slapping her now because she had basically confirmed they had a secret romance throughout this whole time, erasing what she had been saying for the past two years.

---------------

Jaehee's family was almost like what Jumin had expected. Jaehee had told him so many things about her childhood and her past that he had a rough idea about what they were like but it seemed they were ones to wear masks. The aunt only said good things about Jaehee, something that Jumin knew she was faking since Jaehee had told him her aunt wasn't the nicest to her.

Her cousin, however, seemed to be absolutely oblivious to how rudly Jaehee was treated as a child because she didn't seem to be phased. Aunt probably wore this façade around her daughter too.

"Jaehee is an excellent person. She meets every single expectation and then goes beyond. As an assistant and a lover," Jumin said, saying what he always said about her but this time adding the detail of lover in there.

"Ah, that's right. She was your assitant at first. Tell me, how did this come about?" Aunt asked, seeming to imply with her tone that Jaehee probably started it. It looked like she was implying Jaehee was a flirtatious assistant when, in reality, the only one who did any semblance of flirting was Jumin, even if it was very subtle and sparse.

"It was my idea. I had unintentionally fallen in love and I had acted harshly at first. It was to both protect myself and her but then, slowly, my walls came down with every late night talk and every personal incounter we had," Jumin said, recalling all personal events he had with Jaehee. Aunt cocked an eyebrow up, almost as if she were verifying whether this was true or not. Both Jumin and Jaehee grew wary of this, stealing glances at each other with their faces saying "Do you think she knows?".

Aunt shrugged, shooing off her daughter and husband to have a moment with Jumin and Jaehee alone. After an unbearable amount of time, she finally spoke. "Jaehee, Jumin. I'm very curious. How did this really happen? I feel as if you're both lying to me. What is it?"

Jumin looked at Jaehee for a moment but she just stared at her cup of tea, swirling it around and avoiding his gaze. "Nothing is really a lie. If you think she slept her way to this position, you're wrong. If you think she bribed someone, you're also wrong. Any bad thing you think of Jaehee is wrong. I fell for her fair and square. It was all a matter of her falling for me just the same. This is how we came to be engaged,"

"Well, I'm just getting a little suspicious. Only now does it seem that we know of the engagement. It's miraculous how you two could keep this relationship a secret for so long," Aunt said, bringing her drink to her lips before setting it back down and squinting at Jumin, as if trying to see through him. "It almost seems fake," Jumin held his breath, deathly afraid that she knew. "But it can't be. I mean, if it were, it'd become a fake marriage, then a fake child, and all of that would just be a mess, wouldn't it?"

This is what made Jumin's resolve crumble internally. He knows this. He's been knowing this. He knows how much of a mess it would be and yet he's still here, dragging Jaehee with him. It was selfish. Though, his plan was almost to completion. There was no need to worry! Jaehee shouldn't worry and, with her body language he's learned over the years, she was really really worrying right now.

------------------------

Jaehee didn't say anything at all. Nothing. She didn't attempt to ask him what the plan was or what was going to happen. She didn't shout at him or say that her aunt was right. All she did was follow him back. She followed him without question and he was almost worried. She should really be questioning this right about now. She usually did when she saw something worthwhile to fight about.

Yet she was quiet. It was almost deafening to his ears even as the background noise covered for her own silence. Jumin couldn't take it because the Jaehee he knew would be questioning something right about now if she saw a flaw but she wasn't. "Jaehee," Jumin decided to speak for her. She looked at him with a questioning gaze.

"Yes?" She said. He stared at her for a moment, trying to read her like Aunt had tried to read him earlier. It frightened him when he realized, for the first time in his life, he couldn't read Jaehee like a book. He shook off that fear quickly, intent on focusing on Jaehee.

"Do you have any concerns?"

"Only a few," She said but she didn't push on, leaving the sentence only at that. Jumin didn't like that. He pushed on for her.

"What are they?"

"Nothing of interest, really. Not important,"

"Are you mad at me?" He had to ask. He didn't know. He wasn't able to know her emotions like normal. She looked up at him again, making a confused face before responding to him.

"No. Why should I be?" She questioned. Did Jaehee not pay attention to the dinner at all? Then it clicked. That's exactly what she didn't do. She blocked out most of the things her aunt was saying. She was ignoring everything. She didn't hear. Well, maybe he should check if that's correct first.

"Were you paying attention to the dinner?" He asked. Jaehee shook her head.

"No. I didn't want to hear what she said. Usually, she implies a lot of things about me. I get tired of hearing it after a while so I zone out. Did something happen that was important?" She asked, causing internal conflict to rise within Jumin. On one hand, he could not tell her and it'd save a lot of stress but then, it'd just be hell for when she thinks it herself.

Then again, Jaehee was a smart girl. Maybe she already had that concern but didn't say anything because it was unimportant in her eyes. This settled Jumin's argument. He smiled at her and shook his head. "Nothing at all,"

"Okay," She said, stretching it out like she didn't believe him and just kept walking. She'd know sooner or later, right? He's pretty sure she already knows so there's no need to say anything. He followed her, making note of how quickly Jaehee actually walks. He almost had trouble keeping up.

---------------------------

"Okay, so, I'm thinking this wedding could be a Winter wedding. Think of it. Beautiful sparkling snow on the ground, lovely ice sculptures that won't melt as easily, and a Winter wedding dress. The whole concept seems beautiful, no?" The wedding planner said to Jumin and Jaehee. Jaehee leaned over the table a little, trying to get a better look at the concept board.

"I admit, it does look beautiful as a concept," Jaehee said, leaning back into her chair. "What do you think?" She asked Jumin. Jumin was actually shocked. Jaehee still wasn't saying anything even if this was going a little too far. It had been a month since the dinner with her aunt and now they're planning on when to have the wedding at what it would look like. Nevertheless, he looked at the concept board and smiled. It really did look nice. It looked like something he'd like to have.

"Yes. It looks beautiful. Though, it should not outshine the bride," Jumin said, noticing Jaehee's growing blush and her turn of the head so he wouldn't see.

"Of course! Of course! I will not allow the scenery to outshine Miss. Kang's beautiful features. If anything, I'll make sure she's even more beautiful than the scenery. Now, how does the date of December 23rd sound? Just couple days before Christmas," The wedding planner asked. Jumin nodded and then looked at Jaehee.

"Um... Sure. Why not?" She said, no sarcasm that Jumin could detect in her voice. Why hasn't she said anything yet?

"Okay! Now for guest!"

--------------------------------------

"You may not see the bride today!" MC said, crossing her arms and a playful smile on her face. "It's bad luck! I want you guys to have a good marriage,"

"Thank you for the worries, MC, but I really, really need to see Jaehee," Jumin said, playing at his suit cuff and a worried look on his face.

"You can talk to her in the car. There will be a divider between you two but talking doesn't hurt. Now off you go. Get into the car! You're already ready," MC said, ushering him away from the door Jaehee was currently being fitted into her dress in. It made him blush, the weight of the situation really setting in. He was going to marry Jaehee. It's not like he doesn't want to. She was a great assistant and a wonderful friend and being a wife, he doesn't think she'd be that terrible but it's the fact that it felt like he was forcing her.

Did she really want to marry him? It was highly doubted. There's no way. They didn't love each other. Well... Jaehee didn't love him. During this whole endeavor, Jumin had fallen deeper and deeper for her. They had shared his home during all of this, they had went on small dates, they had even kissed a couple times for one reason or another so it was almost impossible not to fall in love with her!

The question is, did she fall in love with him? She didn't say anything about this. She never said anything, never brought up concerns and never said no when a kiss was in question. God, Jaehee was confusing him and it ate him up inside that he didn't know what Jaehee actually wanted. In truth, he almost forgot they were getting married for a reason other than love... He had forgotten about that arranged marriage threat.

----------------------------

He couldn't see Jaehee but he knew she was right beside of him. The divider was black and had a little slider so they could look each other in the eyes if they so desired but it remained closed. Jumin took a deep breath before speaking. "Jaehee, we need to talk,"

"What about?"

"I... Are you really asking that? We're getting married. We're on the way to the church right now to elope. I'm just asking.... Do you really want this? I don't want to force you into-"

"Jumin," Jaehee said, beginning to fiddle with her engagement ring that she refused to let go of.

"Yes?"

"You should've realized this sooner. I'm not saying anything because why would I? I want to get married," Jumin blushed, his face turning hot all of a sudden. "I want to get married to you as much as you want to get married to me," Jumin sputtered at that.

"You knew?"

"Of course. You fell in love with me. The thing is, I fell in love with you too, bastard," Jaehee said, showing through her words that she had tried so hard not to fall in love with him. Jumin chuckled, relief washing over him like a tidal wave. Jaehee actually did love him! He wasn't forcing her at all. "Don't give yourself too much hell from now on, okay?"

"Okay,"

"Besides," Jaehee said, opening the small opening on the divider, causing Jumin to lean forward and look at her eyes. He's noticed countless times before, but her eyes just keep getting prettier every time he looks at them despite it being the 'boring' brown people usually don't like. "I wouldn't want to marry any one else but my best friend,"

"Best friend?"

"Yes. I admit, my boss being my best friend was a bit sad at first but I wouldn't have I any other way. They say a marriage with your best friend is one that is not easily broken,"

A/N: And done! Jesus Christ, you cannot imagine the amount of time I've been working on this! It took so long! Like, a couple months long! Anyways, this chapter is inspired by the movie "The Proposal". I've never personally watched it but somebody (I forgot who, I'm sorry, it's been so long T-T) requested I make a chapter out of it so I watched the trailer above and improvised.

Hopefully I got the jist of the movie correctly. Though, I'm sure I made a completely different thing since I didn't see the actual movie...

Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. It took really long and I had worked super hard on it. Fighting writers block and all that! Thank you!
