Goodbye Father
Juliet sits in her room, alone. She is to stay there as punishment for worrying her parents and running off with a man. To make things worse, her father forbid her to see Aleron. Her father's control reminds her of why she ran off in the first place, why she and Romeo planned to elope elsewhere. Their parents care only for their feud and anger, that's why they never could go forward with their feelings. Look where it got them. Romeo is dead because of parents that trample their children's emotions enough to cause distrust and doubt. She is alone now because her father heed not her words. He does not listen. Not a single word has meaning. Nothing has changed, not a single thing. Her thoughts went to the balcony, the place where he dared to call to her that night. "Oh Romeo, Romeo, why aren't we together in death? For the girl you'd sacrifice everything for is nothing but a coward and a fool."
Juliet clutches herself from the cold wind, like icy bars. She didn't realize how confined she was in that ivory tower, where wealth and privilege should have brought her nothing but comfort and yet all she could find now is misery. She missed the adventure, the journey. She missed Aleron. He's no knight or prince. Not even a noble. A dirty vagabond, with no family name attached. The time she spent with on the run was exhilarating to say the very least. Spoiled brat, she may be, but she was free.
Juliet, determination flowing through her, she walks to the door and listens out for anyone close by. She opens the door, just a crack. There was no one guarding, no one to stop her from running. She runs, out the door and down the steps. One thing weighs on her mind to find Aleron.
Juliet nears the front door but is quickly caught by a servant who saw her, "What is wrong with you child? Go back this instant."
"I will not!" She rebels. More bold than ever, Juliet bites down on the servant's hand and escapes. She starts to look around for Aleron, wanting him to be there. She knew the chance. The possibility that he may not love her the way she did him. He may have left her behind as soon as he was rid of her. The thoughts make her feel lower but she keeps searching through the night, looking for him. Daybreak arrives, tired and hungry, Juliet slumps down against the wall. She looks to the rising sun wondering what was she really doing. She has a home, and should just go back.
"Giving up on me already?" She hears the voice and stands back up to her feet, looking around and spots him on the roof of the building in front of her.
"I thought.. I was so sure..."
"I was going to. Leave, that is. But I saw trouble stirring. Not that I was worried, but I can't get compensated if you ended up dead."
"Trouble?"
"The fire, were you not running from the fire."
"What fire?"
"The House of Capulet, not too long ago was burned. I thought you were in there,"
"No!" Juliet runs off back to her home. As she comes closer, she can see the smoke bellow high in the sky. People start to come forward, coming out to the sight. Her home was truly burning. Her breathing becomes heavy watching the flames roar high in the air. She questions her actions of running and blames her selfish wishes for this. She winders if she even deserves to be sad in this moment. After all, it was not too long ago that she wanted to do such things herself. The thoughts now made her want to vomit. Was she that angered that she would want to bring death to her own parents? When she returned at last, she didn't even consider their feelings of loss and the worry they probably had while she was lost out there. She only thought of her own feelings. She truly was a selfish and naive child. Maybe it was not her parents who hadn't changed, but her. She had not changed one bit.
Juliet turns to see Aleron beside her, covering her as if he was attempting to hide her face. His cautiousness worries her, and she looks around for any danger around but cannot see what he see. Aleron knows the face of an assassin, the way he conceals his presence while being vigilant of the surroundings, that man was looking for survivors of the Capulet House. If he see Juliet now, then he would come after her. So, he searches for a place to escape with her.
"Run away with me," Aleron tells her. Juliet looks at him surprised. She didn't expect that from him. That he would ask her to do such a thing with him. Her heart flutters. She nods taking ahold of his hand, holding onto it tightly.
Aleron takes Juliet, pulling her away from the crowd and away from the eyes of the Montague head. He hides her and covers her mouth. Looking out to find the best route to take to get Juliet out of the area. Juliet looks back at her former home, she apologizes for cursing it. She didn't mean for it to burn to the ground, she just wanted to live. She whispers goodbye to her mother and father, may they rest in peace. It was time for her to go.
As they leave the scene, Aleron knew they couldn't keep going. Not without finding out the perpetrators who set the fire. Someone in the city wanted her dead, and knowing of the feud between the families, he expected this to be of Montague's doing. Aleron takes Juliet to safety first, hiding her in a place where no one would look for her. Walking out, Juliet stops him from leaving. She holds tightly to his clothing.
"There's someone trying to kill you," he explains to her. "I'm sure of this now. That fire was set from someone, someone who has enough hate in their heart to not even spare a single person there. I need to go find them and you have to stay put here."
"If it's me they're after then it's me that will put an end to it. If they hate me, then let me be the one to extinguish that hate with the same fuel that allowed them to light those flames. Let me avenge my parents."
