Chapter 9 - Messenger

It was around 6 pm. when Shyam arrived home and was caught off guard by Anjali's presence in his house. She was on her way but stopped after she saw him enter the house.

There was a sudden, excited smile on his face that he tried to suppress as he pretended to look normal, "Hi. I didn't expect you to be here... you must be with Khushi, right?"

But Anjali didn't return her usual shy smile as she nodded her head, "Yes, I'm with Khushi. I've been with her since morning. She wasn't feeling well."

Shyam panicked as his eyes travelled to Khushi's room door with a worried look, "What happened to her?"

While Anjali was still trying to find a better way to share with him what happened. Shyam jumped to react without hearing the full story, as he sat on the sofa with a thud, pressing his temple and sighing hard, "I shouldn't have agreed to her continuing this work. I'm sorry to say, Anjali, but your brother is torturing my sister. What kind of work is it that every day you go home discouraged? Aise toh, she will go into depression very soon. If he doesn't have any problem with your friendship and Khushi passed his test, then what is the problem now? What did he do to my sister now?"

"Well, Shyam, this time it's not my brother's fault," Anjali said, "It's Aman!"

Shyam frowned as he looked up to her, confused, "Aman? Aman ne kya kiya? (What did Aman do?)"

Anjali took a deep breath before she sat with Shyam to narrate the whole incident to him. When she finished, she could see Shyam's eyes burning in anger, as he immediately got up, "Uski itni himmat.. meri behen ke saath badtameezi karne ki (How dare he misbehave with my sister?). I won't spare him today."

Anjali got up immediately as she walked to him, holding him by his arm as he was already taking steps to leave the house, "Shyam, wait.. calm down, please. Khushi needs you more than anyone now. Please go and talk to her once, she will feel better. You will deal with Aman later."

Shyam shut his eyes momentarily, trying to suppress his anger and frustration as he turned back to Anjali, pressing his temple and nodding his head, agreeing to her, "You're right. Khushi needs me."

"Yes.. but first, calm down and be strong in front of Khushi. She has been crying since morning and refused to eat anything. So I put her to sleep and had to force her to eat something for some time as she had a fever and headache due to crying heavily," Anjali said.

"You've been with her all this time. Why didn't you call me then, Anjali?" he sighed, cursing himself for not being with his sister during the time she needed him the most.

"I thought not to disturb you since you were in the shop," Anjali explained, "It's not like Khushi was alone. She was with me. I thought you trusted me to take care of Khushi like her elder sister," she ended with a disappointed tone.

Sensing the disappointment in her tone, he sighed, "Anjali, it's not like what you're thinking. Please understand that Khushi is my only family, my sister. I have the right to know what happened to her, and you didn't need to think which time is good to tell me about this, at any time you could have called me and I would have left everything and come running to be with my sister."

"I'm sorry. My bad!" Anjali said, "I did what I thought was right at that time. It's just... I was taught that way, in my family, we always expected our parents to be free from work or whatever other important activity they were doing so that we could go to them, talk to them or share our problems," she ended with a low emotional tone, her eyes turned misty making Shyam feel guilty.

He gulped, staring at her misty eyes guiltily, "It's okay. I'm not upset with you because of this. And I'm sorry too. I didn't mean to hurt you, Anjali."

Anjali shook her head with a small smile, "Arey, I didn't feel bad. You go and talk to Khushi. I'm waiting here."

Shyam nodded as he walked to Khushi's room, and Anjali waited for them, sitting in the living room to give the siblings their privacy to talk.

*****************************************

Khushi's room..

When Khushi opened the door for Shyam, her eyes teared again as she threw herself into his arms, sobbing, "Bhaiya."

"Shh," Shyam patted her head, shutting his eyes momentarily as he stopped himself from crying after seeing her condition.

"You know what Aman said to me?" she asked in a broken tone, shutting her eyes tightly, crying in his arms.

"Shh.. stop crying.. I know.. I already know what happened," he said, stroking her hair to calm her down, "Don't worry.. your brother is here, na. I won't spare that man who dared to question your character," his tone changed from a soft, gentle to a vengeful one, as he clenched his jaws, his eyes darkened as the mere thought of seeing Aman in front of him.

Khushi broke the hug immediately as she looked at her brother's eyes, trying to read his intentions. She shook her head, "You won't do anything to Aman, bhaiya. You've got to swear on me that you won't touch him."

Shyam furrowed his brows, "You still care for that man after what he did to you? Do you even realise the man who promised to love and trust you wholeheartedly, accused you of sleeping.. shii.."

He couldn't even complete the word as he turned his back to Khushi, slamming the wall in front of him in anger. He was angry with himself for not being there the moment Aman manhandled his sister and questioned her character. He wished to be there so he could break his bones for even daring of thinking so low of his sister.

Still facing his back to Khushi, he turned his face sideway, "How could he think of you like that? You know I'm now regretting agreeing to this marriage. You are young, and you couldn't see his real face. But I'm older, I have more experience dealing with men who have nothing but dirt on their minds. I should have asked you to wait someday, one day or another. His truth would have been revealed openly. If the man you are going to marry has such a low opinion of you... if he is the one throwing stones at you, do you think that in the future, he will protect you from this society that does nothing but throw stones at others when their own houses are made of glass?"

"I'm not saying this because of Aman, bhaiya. I care for you only. I don't want you to do anything wrong in anger that will make you regret it later. I only have you in my life now. I don't want anything bad to happen to you," Khushi explained.

"And about Aman.." Just as she was about to announce her decision, what she planned to do next, the doorbell of their house started ringing continuously, as if someone was desperately ringing it.

"He still has the courage to come here and face me after what he did to you," Shyam said in disbelief as he angrily marched to open the door when Khushi rushed to him, and held his arm, dragging him back as she cried desperately, "Bhaiya please no.. let me handle him.. I'll go and talk to him.. please don't do anything in anger.. I'm feeling scared, please bhaiya.. please."

Shyam looked at her eyes filled with tears and fearful look momentarily and sighed hard and defeatedly as he gestured her to go and talk with Aman.

Khushi wiped her tears quickly as she walked ahead, and Shyam followed her. He wasn't going to leave his sister alone with Aman this time.

*****************************************

When Khushi and Shyam reached the living room, an alarmed Anjali walked towards them, "It's Aman ringing the bell. He's calling your name loud like a mad man here."

Khushi nodded knowingly as she took a deep breath before walking towards the door, and as soon as she opened it, she was attacked by Aman who pulled her into his arms, hugging her as tight as he could, sobbing and burying his face in the crook of her neck.

Shyam, who had planned to be a silent spectator of their conversation before, gritted his teeth as he took a step ahead to go and free his sister from him when Anjali held his hand, stopping him from doing what he intended, she looked at him whispering, "Let them reconcile."

"What?" he frowned deeply, hearing her.

"They love each other, Shyam. Aman shouldn't have said all that to Khushi. But we can give him a benefit of the doubt for now as he has never treated Khushi like this before. So I think you should give him another chance," she explained, trying to calm him.

Shyam doesn't agree with the idea of giving a second chance to those who hurt his baby sister. But he kept quiet as he wanted to hear what Khushi's decision would be for now.

As he looked at the scene, he saw Khushi pushing Aman back with full force as she said in a stern tone, "Behave yourself, Aman."

"I'm sorry, Khushi. I'm really sorry.. I don't know what happened to me at that time.. It wasn't me.. you know that I'm not like that," he joined his hands as if begging for forgiveness, crying bitterly in front of her.

When she looked away, showing no sign of melting at his apology, he started crying even more and slapping his face repeatedly, "It's all your fault, Aman.. see, you've hurt the woman you most love in this world.. you will lose her because of your mistakes only.. you're stupid.. you're a fool to even think of hurting the woman who loves you like crazy.. she never even looked at any other man.. she only has her eyes for you. How could you doubt this pure woman's intentions? You're really fool."

If it was the Khushi she was before the morning incident in AR, she would have rushed to him and stopped him from getting hurt because of her, she would have forgiven him and forgotten what happened, she would have wiped his tears, she would have made him sit down and serve him food, as she knows he can't eat whenever they fight. She would feed him with her own hands. She would whisper sweet nothings to him while cuddling him.

But something changed in her after that incident. No matter how much she loved Aman, she couldn't bring herself to look at him the same way she used to before. The admiration, affection, and respect she had for him in her eyes was gradually fading away every time she recalled his words. This time, the words that came out of his mouth were too heavy and disgusting. She couldn't forget the cold and intimidating tone he used to talk with her, she couldn't forget the way he manhandled her, she couldn't forget the anger, frustration and disgust she saw in his eyes when he accused her of being a gold digger. He didn't look like the same man she fell in love with at that moment. And his question, 'How much is this man paying you to sleep with him? Because only money can make you change your mind like this,' is haunting her, not letting her heart and mind in peace. She feared if Aman was always like this and she was the one blind in his love that she couldn't see this side of his. She couldn't just keep ignoring these signs to regret later after marriage.

Ever since she joined AR, she has been noticing yet ignoring this side of Aman. First, it was the way he related the way she dressed with her innocence, claiming that modern formal clothes snatched the innocence from her. His desperate attempts to prove to everyone at AR that she's committed to him, which she shrugged off as normal possessiveness everyone has for their life partners. He and his mother were so against the idea of her working, and he's always pessimistic whenever she talks to him related to her workspace. He thinks only men are meant to work and earn for their families, while women are supposed to stay at home and take care of the house chores. The way he didn't even think once before jumping to conclude that she accepted to work in AR because Arnav offered to sleep with her in exchange for money, it's the same way he judged Arnav of being a casanova and drug addict because of his lifestyle.

All these signs and points seemed like huge red alerts to her now. She started to fear thinking that if her Shyam bhaiya, her only family, won't be near her, then how would Aman treat her in the future? And for every girl, this is their worst nightmare, to fear to imagine a future together with the man you claim to love, to the one you want to get married to.

Khushi was brought back to earth by Aman, who began banging his head against the wall as a way of punishing himself for hurting her.

Khushi flinched, taking a step back in fear, witnessing the madness of this man, "Aman, stop it this childishness. What are you doing? Have you gone mad?"

Shyam had to intervene as he grabbed Aman by his shirt collar, pulling him back and stopping him from banging his head against the wall, "Go and do this stupidity in your house, not mine. Now get out from here. Leave my sister alone."

Aman looked up at him crying, and he joined his hands again, "Shyam bhai-"

Shyam glared at him, "No. Don't call me bhai. I trusted you a lot, Aman. I thought you were a good simple man who would treat my sister with love and respect, but you broke my trust. I never expected this from you."

"Nahi bhai.. please don't talk like this. I still love and respect your sister a lot. I promise you this is the last time we fought like this, and I hurt Khushi. This will never happen again. I promise you, bhai. Please forgive me this time," Aman said guiltily.

"Unfortunately, the decision to forgive him or not will be made by Khushi, not me," Shyam said, sighing hard, as he left Aman's shirt collar harshly.

Aman looked at Khushi with hopeful eyes.

Khushi was staring at him painfully before she took her engagement ring off her finger and extended it to Aman, "I already took my decision. I can't continue with this engagement anymore."

Anjali gasped, not expecting Khushi to make this move. But Shyam was satisfied with Khushi's decision. He certainly didn't want his sister to settle with a man like Aman who questioned her character. He wanted Khushi to marry someone who would truly love and take care of her and not just fake it in front of him. He didn't mind Khushi waiting for the right person for her. He just wanted to make sure he got his sister married to someone who's worthy of her. He wanted to feel assured that wherever Khushi is, she is being loved and taken care of. She feels safe, and most importantly, she's happy with her life partner and his family. And if Khushi doesn't feel this way with Aman, he didn't mind her breaking off their engagement.

Aman was staring numbly at the engagement ring, resting on her palm for a moment before he looked up at her, shocked, "You can't leave me Khushi.. I didn't commit such a big mistake that you're calling off our engagement.. you just can't leave me."

He approached her again, cupping her face and bringing his face closer to her, he whispered, crying, "I love you, Khushi.. I love you a lot, jaan.. I can't lose you, yaar.. I won't be able to live without you."

Khushi looked away, pushing him away, making him feel frustrated with her acting indifferently towards him today, Shyam also intervened again as he came in between them and pushed Khushi behind him as he took the engagement ring from Khushi's hand and thrusted it into Aman's hand forcefully, "She already took her decision. Didn't you understand or don't you know how to respect someone's decision?"

"Shyam bhai, please don't take this matter too seriously. You don't even really know what happened. It's not a big deal like Khushi is making it out to be. I didn't even raise my hands on her. She was the one who slapped me. I agree. I shouldn't have said some of the words I said in the heat of the moment. But that's no reason to create a scene and break off our engagement. Khushi is acting on her emotions, but Bhai, you are the sensible one here. You should make her understand that these fights are common between couples," Aman said, trying to turn Shyam on his side now, "And make her understand it's not possible to break off our engagement. Our wedding dates are already fixed. We're about to start the preparations.."

Shyam patted Aman's cheek dangerously as he smirked, "Beta suno, if my sister came to me on her wedding day and asked me to cancel the wedding, I would have cancelled the damn wedding. And even after marriage, if she wants divorce, then I'll make sure to free her from a toxic and unhealthy relationship. So you don't have to worry about this."

Aman frowned, not liking to be treated like a kid by Shyam, he was crossing his limits, here he was trying to be respectful towards him as he is Khushi's elder brother, but now Shyam is mocking him and he is not the one to keep quiet, he opened his mouth to give a befitting reply, "It's not me who have to worry about this, but you Shyam bhai. Mujhe toh kya.. it's easy for me to find another girl to get married to. But not for Khushi.. society will question what's wrong with your sister that her engagement broke off. Now you're showing me this attitude, but in the future, you will regret doing this with me as you will find it very difficult to find marriage proposals from decent men like me who's ready to go to any extent for your sister's happiness. You're judging and blaming me just because of one bad day, and you're completely forgotten my good deeds. Khushi, you too.. you will regret doing this to me.."

Shyam stared at him in disbelief. He didn't know whether to feel angry or pity of Aman's thinking right now, "You've completely lost it. Thank God I saw your real face before it's too late. And don't worry about my sister's future. I'm here with her."

"Go away from here, Aman. I don't even want to see your face anymore," Khushi said, staring at him disgusted. Tears were rolling down her cheeks. She was already heartbroken, and he came to just smash the broken pieces of her heart even more.

"Is it so easy for you to leave me? Is this how fragile our relationship is?" Aman asked, staring at Khushi hurt. Shyam was standing in between him and Khushi, blocking his way to reach her.

Khushi didn't reply to him, as she lowered her eyes, sobbing.

Getting no reply from her, he started to get agitated as he tried to walk past Shyam to reach her, who caught him in time, blocking his way again, "Answer me, Khushi.. answer me.. will you be able to live without me? Don't you love me anymore? Answer me.. Khushiii," he screamed, crying desperately.

Khushi was getting afraid with this maniac behaviour of his, and she ran towards Anjali, who was untill now a silent spectator in this scenario. Anjali side hugged, giving silent support to her.

Shyam gestured him to leave as he warned him in a no-nonsense tone, "Aman, you're not in condition to even have a normal conversation with Khushi. Go to your house and we'll talk later with cool minds. If you continue with your maniac behaviour and emotionally blackmailing my sister, I will cross my limits with you and do something I'll regret later."

Aman unwillingly walked backwards with a defeated look as he gazed at Khushi for a few seconds before he regained his confidence and proudly said, "I know you still love me, Khushi You will come back to me. My love for you is real and pure. You won't find another man who will love you like me. You will come back to me only."

Khushi hid her face on Anjali's shoulder. She didn't want to look at his side.

"Ho gaya aap ka? (Are you done?). Now leave," Shyam said as he slightly pushed Aman back, gesturing him to leave them alone.

*****************************************

Sometime later,..

After Aman left the house, Khushi begged Shyam to let her go to the place she felt closest to her late parents. Shyam didn't want to let her go out of the house in the condition she was, but she was adamant on her request, she needed to talk with her Amma and Babu ji otherwise she wouldn't feel at peace. She was having doubts about her decisions, and she wanted to be alone for some time, open her heart out to her parents, and feel close to them. It would calm her down and help her think with a clear mind whether she took the right decision or not to break off the engagement when there were only a few months left for their wedding.

And here she was, leaning on a wall of her old house as she sat on the floor, hugging her knees, isolated, crying her heart out.

"It wasn't an easy decision, Amma, Babu ji. It was very difficult for me to break off the engagement. I loved him with all my heart. But he hurt me a lot. I just can't look at him the same way anymore. I'm feeling scared of him now, Amma, Babu Ji. He has been behaving so strangely with me ever since I joined AR. Now please tell me.. did I make the right decision? Or do you also think I precipitated and acted compulsively by calling off the engagement? Shyam bhaiya is also on my side, but Anjali Di and Aman think I'm exaggerating. But Amma and Babu ji, you also tell me.. how can I get married to a man who didn't even twice before accusing me of sleeping with my boss because of money? He says it was in the heat of the moment.. so it means that when someone is angry, he is allowed to say hurtful things to me, and I'm supposed to forgive him easily and understand he said that in anger.. if he really loves and trusts me as he claims, then even in anger, he wouldn't have thought so low of me.. and this is not everything.. I felt so scared when I saw him slapping himself and banging his head against the wall.. It was like I was feeling forced to forgive him, but since Bhaiya was with me, I didn't react and maintained my composure.. it really made me think that after marriage, he will use this technique to emotionally blackmail me, and then Bhaiya won't be near me. I have never seen Aman losing his control like today, and frankly speaking, I'm feeling scared to imagine a future with him. I kept ignoring many bad things he said, but now I feel I did wrong.."

"I don't know if I did right or wrong. Amma, Babu ji, please help me.. please guide me to make the right decision. Please let me know if I did right by cancelling this engagement.. I made a big decision of my life for the first time without consulting Bhaiya first.. please let me know if I'm right or not," she begged, looking up with tears streaming down her face, then she closed her eyes for a while, and suddenly she felt someone hold her hand firmly and pull her upwards, making her stand up.

She opened her eyes momentarily, shocked and startled. Her blurry eyes, who were fixed on that person's hand, raised to take a proper look at the person who made her stand on her feet without any prior warning. She blinked her eyes repeatedly, feeling little disoriented. Just as she was about to get a clear view of that person's face, she felt an intense spinning sensation in her head and blacked out. It was the exhaustion, headache, and fever, her crying continuously throughout the day and thinking about everything Aman said to her, her overthinking about everything that happened that made her lose her consciousness as soon as she was abruptly made to stand on her feet.

"Shit," Arnav muttered as he instinctively held her before she fell on the floor and lifted her in his arms, taking her out from the old guest house.

*****************************************

Arnav made an unconscious Khushi lay on a lateral position on the backseat of his car. Mohan Kaka looked at Khushi worriedly, then shifted his attention to Arnav, "What happened to her? What was she doing in this old guest house?"

"I don't know," Arnav curtly replied.

Mohan Kaka rushed to grab the bottle of water in the cupholder of his car as he wanted to splash water on her face to help her regain her consciousness. But Arnav showed his palm to Mohan Kaka to stop him, "No Kaka, she will come around on her own."

"But how can we let her unconscious like this?" Mohan Kaka asked concernedly.

Arnav held Khushi's wrist to check her pulse, "She has a pulse, and she's still breathing. Let's wait a bit to see if she automatically regains consciousness on her own. If she doesn't respond, then we'll take her to the hospital. It's not good to sprinkle water on someone who has fainted."

Mohan Kaka looked at him innocently, "But why? I've seen in movies that the hero saves the heroine by sprinkling water on her face."

"So you want to act like a typical movie hero at this age?" Arnav smirked, crossing his arms as he leaned his back on the bonnet of his car.

"No!" Mohan Kaka shook his head vigorously, horrified at the thought, "I was just following the example."

"Hmm.."

"Arnav beta," Mohan Kaka, who was still near Khushi, pointed towards her in a relieved tone, "She's regained her consciousness.. she opened her eyes."

Arnav stood straight as he walked to check on Khushi, who had finally opened her eyes. She looked disoriented, trying to comprehend where she exactly was, and before she could panic, Arnav instructed Mohan Kaka to calm her down and ask her not to sit or stand up instantly

Mohan Kaka did as he said, as he gently patted Khushi's head, "Khushi bitiya, calm down.. nothing happened.. you're fine and safe."

Khushi looked up at him, confused, "Mohan Kaka aap? Where am I? What happened to me? Who does this car belong to?"

She tried to sit, but Mohan Kaka advised her not to sit as he asked her to continue in her laid position.

"Calm down, bitiya. Arnav bitwa found you in that old guest house. You fainted, and he brought you here. You're okay now.. don't worry. You're safe with us. Calm down," Mohan Kaka explained calmly as he continued to pat her head gently.

Upon hearing the assuring, soothing words of Mohan Kaka, Khushi's body and mind eased as she laid silently there for few minutes to regain her strength. Her eyes looked for Arnav, and she finally could see him through the window of the car. He was checking something on his phone standing some two steps far from Mohan Kaka. So he's the one who saved her!

*****************************************

When Khushi regained her strength and didn't feel weak while standing on her own feet, Arnav and Mohan Kaka thought it's best if she eats something before they dropped her home. So Mohan Kaka instructed Arnav to take them to the nearest dhaba. Khushi didn't want to bother them as she asked them to stop the car, affirming that she was fine now and she could go home alone. Mohan Kaka kept insisting that she eat something before going back home. But she didn't want to stay out for a long time as Shyam would be worried for her.

One kept insisting, and the other kept denying without realising Arnav was driving and only stopped the car when they reached the dhaba.

He looked at them sarcastically, "Are you two done? We've reached the dhaba," and while glancing intently at Khushi, he added, "And I'm not leaving this place until I eat my food."

Khushi pouted, "But I don't want.."

Arnav ignored her as he got down the car. Only Mohan Kaka stayed with Khushi as he looked behind, "Chalo bitiya.. if you want, I'll inform your bhai that you're with us. You're safe, and he doesn't need to be worried about you."

"I don't have my phone with me," Khushi sighed as she opened the car's door and got down the car with Mohan Kaka. They walked together towards the table where Arnav was sitting.

"No problem.. I will borrow Arnav's phone so we can call your brother," Mohan Kaka said on the way.

Mohan Kaka and Khushi reached the table and took their respective seats. As promised, Mohan Kaka asked for Arnav's phone so they could contact Shyam.

Arnav handed his phone to them, but Mohan Kaka didn't know how to use his iPhone, so he gave it back to Arnav sheepishly, asking Arnav to call Khushi's brother.

Arnav looked at Khushi, asking her through his eyes Shyam's number. Khushi meekly dictated Shyam's phone number to him while rubbing her hands due to cold. She covered herself with her dupatta, wrapping it around her shoulders.

He handed his phone to her, and she quickly talked with Shyam and informed him of her whereabouts.

"Thank you," she said in a low, soft tone with a weak small smile as she returned his phone to him.

Arnav took his phone from her hand and kept it aside on the table. Mohan Kaka had already called a young boy to come and take their orders.

The young boy came with their food after a few minutes, and they started eating silently. Khushi noticed Arnav hesitancy to eat dhaba food, but she didn't say anything. She just smiled a little as she understood he purposely said he wanted to eat dhaba food so that she had no other option left but to join them.

Mohan Kaka broke the silence by asking her why she looked so upset.

Khushi was feeling a little awkward to share everything in front of Arnav, but since he was eating his food silently as if she didn't exist to him. She focused back on Mohan Kaka as she started to narrate everything to him.

Mohan Kaka felt bad for her.

"You only tell me Kaka.. you're elder to me, and you have more experience in life than me. Did I make the right decision to break off the engagement, or do you also think I acted impulsively, and I should have forgiven Aman even after what he did to me?" Khushi asked. Her eyes reflected the confusion and pain she was going through at the moment.

"See bitiya.. this is a huge decision to make, and you're the one who has to be sure if he's the man you want to marry or not. You've few months left to your wedding, so I'd suggest you give it some time to think properly if this is what you really want or not," Mohan Kaka said.

Arnav looked at Mohan Kaka incredulously before shaking his head in disbelief and grabbing his bottle of water to drink.

Khushi noticed this reaction of his. "So he and bhaiya are on the same page. And Anjali Di and Mohan Kaka share the same opinion that I should give some time before taking the final decision," she thought to herself.

A cool breeze touched her face as she looked up at the dark sky with twinkling stars, "Is this your sign, Amma, Babu ji? Did you two send Arnav to our house so he could convey your message to me? It's so strange that he was one who fulfilled the wish I made in the Dargah, and now he appeared suddenly in our old house when I was pleading you two to guide me to take the right decision. I always call him Rakshas, but he's doing Farishta wala kaam (work) in my life."

"What do you think, Arnav beta? Do you agree with me?" Mohan Kaka turned to Arnav.

Khushi looked at Arnav, eager to know his answer now.

"I do not think anything!" he shrugged.

"What if you were in my place? What would you have done?" Khushi asked him. She couldn't believe she was actually starting a conversation with her boss in a dhaba at night time. It was actually a weird, but she was going with the flow now. Also, now that she believed Arnav magically appeared in her old house because of her parents, she was keen on finding out what's his opinion on this was. She truly believed her late parents always sent signs to her since her childhood, so Arnav's presence there wasn't a mere coincidence, but her parent's sign to her.

"Suno sabki.. karo man ki! (Listen to everyone.. but act to your judgement)," he ended the conversation before it even started as he slightly waved his hand, calling the young boy to deliver the bill to him.

Khushi stared at him speechless. Her eyes moistened as she remembered her mother always used to say this dialogue to her. It was the same exact words Arnav said to her.

Now she was sure this was her Amma's message to her.
