Chapter 4

Samantha was buried the next morning, with her family and friends present in the graveyard.
The whole neighbourhood was shaken by the incident especially the three women who had not spoken to each other the whole day.
These women could not even look at themselves in the mirror, how were they suppose to see each other after what they had talked about Samantha.

The service was the next day in the church in the same neighbourhood and to the three women's shock they were invited.
The three walked in separately but sat close ultimately.
The women looked around and saw the three men who visited Samantha, her husband with the kids and women next to him.
They also saw many of their neighbours too.

The service started and after the priest had said a few good things about Samantha the first guy takes the centre.
"Hi. I am Samantha's doctor. Dr Daniel Smith. I treated her at her home and made visits very often to her house" said the doctor and the three women looked at eachother "Samantha was a fighter. She had a rare skin decease which enabled her to wear thick clothes and every time I treated her skin she would try to hold her scream but moaned in pain"
The women recalled hearing her moan when he visited.
"We made assumption so fast," said Rosalyn.
"She often would send her children out to play when I visited as she didn't want her children to see her in pain. She truly lived for her children. She was a great mother, a person and a wonderful human being. And to top it all, a fighter" concluded the doctor.

Next stood the second guy who visited her "hello everyone. I am Tom Brady. I am a lawyer in profession and Samantha has a written will in which she has written all her wealth to her children and a letter for them to read alone"
"This guy is a lawyer. She was making a will" said Estella.
"Who is that guy? He visited her a lot" said Emma looking at the third guy.

The third guy stands in the middle and says "hi. I am Samantha's brother Josh. My sister was a very sweet person. Anyone who knew her, knew how joyful and happy she always was. Yes, was. At the end of her time here in this neighbourhood. She was sad, but she never told me the reason"
The three women knew that the rumours that they spread had made Samantha look bad and no one wanted to talk to her.
The three were finally ashamed of themselves.

"My sister was a writer. She wrote poetry. Recently she wrote a small poem. This was her last poem. And today I would like to read for you" said Samantha's brother and cleared his voice and started...

Why...????
Why do you look at me?
What do you want to know?
Why do your lips move and your eyes are stuck at me when you speak to someone else?
Are you speaking about me?
Why.....????
Why don't you approach me?
Why don't you ask me about me?
Why don't you try to know me?
How is it that you know about me without even knowing me?
Why do you look at me?
Please stop...
Please...

he three women knew it was for them and shed tears for what they had done.
"She was so unlucky. Her husband left her after knowing her condition. He only cared for his children and she had to fight him to let her children live with her till she was alive. She fought everyone for her children and she died after saying goodbye to them. She is everything a woman should be. She was helpful, kind, caring, humble and gentle. People who didn't try to know her lost a great opportunity to know such a wonderful soul. May the lord bless her soul" said the women crying in front of the three women.

The three women stood out of the church and watched the sad children leave with their father.
Everyone left and so did the three women.
They didn't talk to eachother for their walk back from the church.
When they reached their houses Estella looked at Emma and Rosalyn and said "we are the society who portrayed that women wrong without even knowing about her. You know what we should do?"
Emma and Rosalyn looked at Estella waiting for an answer.
"We should go home. Stand in our own house and look around. We should see how filthy our own house is before pointing out the dirt in others house. We should also try to meet our own eyes in the mirror. I know I won't be able to meet mine. I got a soul which is dying inside me. The only way I can save is to mind, my own fucking business" said Estella and walked away.
Emma and Rosalyn walked to their house too and as Estella said, both couldn't meet their eyes too.

The three cried the night away for the women who neither needed their tears nor their support.
All Samantha wanted was a smile in return for her smile.
A smile which is so expensive that only the wealthy can afford it.
No, not wealthy in money. But wealthy in their heart.
