The First Encounter
Patient Zero stood on the bullhead with Team RWBY, Yuri and the Weeping Willow on hand as they traveled to their destination.
"It's your first mission, Zero! Aren't you excited!" Ruby shouted over the roar of the plane's engine.
"He has a name, you know," said Blake condescendingly.
"(y/n), wasn't it?" asked Weiss.
The young man nodded as he fiddled with the small firearm in his hand
"We're just about here!" yelled the pilot, "prepare to drop!"
"Just stick with us and you'll be alright," said Blake in a rather calm voice.
"Yeesh, why'd we have to bring this one with us?" asked Yang.
"Ozpin said he needs some fresh air," said Weiss as the landing doors to the ship opened, "And something else to kill besides you or any other student."

"Why not kill him and be done with it?" asked Glynda.
She was meeting with Ozpin privately.
"As much as I want to, he's still human... I believe that there's still a part of him in there... Fighting... I could never forgive myself if I acted so rashly as to take someone's life without giving them a chance..."
"You know just as well as I do, Ozpin. He's unstable. Set to snap."
"I know... Our Modern Prometheus will have to keep fighting for just a bit longer."

The five young students watched as the bullhead flew away, leaving them in an abandoned and ruined city.
"I never liked it here..." muttered Weiss, "The air... These buildings..."
"I get the feeling..." said Ruby as she looked around at the once-thriving city.
"This was once a city... A place where humans and Faunus alike could gather... And look at it now..." whispered Blake.
"All the more reason that we have to clear out this place so we can start a new," said Yang as she looked up at the darkened skies.
A bloodcurdling roar came out from beyond, stirring everyone.
"They can't be too far off now," said Blake, "That Grimm nest needs to be cleared out."
"Be careful, everyone," warned Ruby.
The 5 continued to trek through the remnants of the city, waiting in silence for something to come out and attack them.
Crow cawed above as they circled the team above as if they were waiting for them to drop dead for a bite to eat.
Suddenly, an Ursa ripped through the side of a building as it spotted the group in front.
It roared and prepared to attack, but stopped in its tracks.
A loud crack emanated in the air as the creature dropped dead.
The girls turned around to see that (y/n) had fired his pistol, killing it with a shot to the heart.
He sighed heavily from his mouth as continued to walk forward.
Not long after, more roars came from the city.
"Must've been alerted by his gunshot," stated Yang.
All sorts of Grimm came from the depths of the shattered city.
The 5 weapon-wielding warriors switched their weapons for long-distance attacks, shooting down the oncoming Grimm before they could reach them.
Try as they might, however, the Grimm were closing in on them.
For every Grimm they killed, 10 more took its place.
"Damn! What's with this?!" shouted Yang as she kept firing her shotgun gauntlets, "The Grimm are pinning us down! I didn't think that they were capable of advanced tactics!"
"They aren't!" replied Weiss, "Something isn't right here!"
Blake looked back to (y/n) who seemed to be taking the event very casually, firing his pistol and bolt-action rifle as if it was another training routine.
Team RWBY was forced to switch into the close-combat forms of their weapons to protect themselves against the onslaught of Grimm.
The huntresses hacked and slashed at the Grimm, while (y/n) preferred to stick to his firearms.
Ruby kept on slicing away the Grimm with her scythe like a master, but even she was being overwhelmed.
As she cut one Grimm in half, another sprung up at her for the kill.
It was too close to stop it now.
She screamed as she prepared for the life-ending pain, but...
It never came...
Ruby opened her eyes to see that all the Grimm were attacking (y/n).
"Stop! They don't want us!" yelled Ruby to her fighting teammates.
"What was that?!" asked Weiss.
"Look!"
All the Grimm that was in front of them just ran past them and straight into the sights of (y/n)'s guns.
"W-What's... going on?" stuttered Blake.
Finally, (y/n) swapped the rifle into its blade form as he shot and slashed through the Grimm.
Not a single one of them attacked Team RWBY but went for the fighting young man.
More and more Grimm came for the slaughter at the hands of Patient Zero.
Through all of that, the girls could see one singular emotion on his face: Joy.
Finally, the last Grimm was cut down.
Blood and bodies littered the streets as Team RWBY looked on in horror at the young man in front of them.
A sick grin was on his face as his body was covered in blood.
"How... Fun..."
His body instantly went limp, then went rigid.
He breathed in sharply and ran into one of the nearby buildings.
"Hey! Wait!" yelled Ruby as the others ran to catch up with him.
The girls chased him into a large building, where he stood in front of a shattered fountain.
"Wow..." muttered Yang as she looked at the wreckage of the building.
From the ruined and worn-down design, it could be inferred that this was some sort of fancy foyer in the past.
"Seeing this just makes me want to clear out this place... So people can start living here again..." said Ruby, "I can't even imagine the pain of being forced out of your home..."
"This is why we fight," whispered Blake in a hushed tone, "So that this doesn't happen to anybody else."
"If we fail, then this might happen to all of Vale..." said Weiss.
A loud clap of thunder was heard overhead as the rain began to pour.
"The ship won't arrive here until morning," said Yang, "We should camp here."
"Agreed," stated Weiss, "This place should protect us from the rain.
Before any more conversation could occur, (y/n) collapsed on the ground without warning.
The group tried to see what was wrong with him.
"I-I think he's sleeping," said Ruby with a giggle.
"I think you're right," said Blake.
The girls set up their sleeping bags as the soft breathing of the boy in the reassured them into the night.

Blake suddenly awoke, slight confusion on her face.
She looked around for her teammates but they weren't in sight.
She called out for them, but there was no reply.
The young faunus looked outside to see a figure standing alone in the rain.
Blake quickly got up and walked out the building and towards the figure.
The atmosphere was fierce and dark. A strange mist surrounded the two bodies.
The rain began to drench her body as she stood only feet away from the figure.
The figure turned around.
It was him.
"What are you doing out here? You should come back inside."
"Why don't we stop playing house and get down to business."
Blake shuddered when she heard his voice.
That sick and dark tone didn't match the body that was standing right in front of her.
"What do you mean?"
"Dark Times are approaching. When the time comes where innocent blood will be spilled, my true purpose will be revealed."
"You're not making any sense! Why don't we just-"
"You listen to me, Beast!"
She recoiled at his tone.
"I like you. You're... Fun... So I'm giving you one chance to leave this place."
"Leave?"
"Yes... Go away to a foreign land... Escape the execution of a long-awaited plan."
"I can't leave... I can't leave my Team... I can't leave the Faunus... Especially when I have the task of setting things right between the Humans and the Faunus."
"You're naive way of thinking is... Infuriating... Fine... Have it your way..."
In the blink of an eye, the figure got close to her.
"When even the sky turns silver, don't say I didn't warn you."

Blake opened her eyes and shot up from her sleeping position, much to the suprise of Yang.
"Thought you'd never wake up," she said, "Ship's here."
"T-Thank you," she stuttered.
The two walked towards the bullhead with Ruby and Weiss waving at them.
Blake looked up to see (y/n) standing in the ship with sleepy eyes and a slight grin on his face.
