A Love Deeper Than the Ocean - Cyan & Kinn

Jysk, these are humanized versions

Ah, love.

The feeling that sends butterflies fluttering in your stomach. The feeling that dabs your face with red as they blushed. The feeling that makes your heart pump and bang against your ribcage. The feeling that makes you feel like melting on the spot.

Love.

A feeling that dares you to care, to think about them, to protect.

Cyan couldn't stop thinking of his beloved Kinn, whose beautiful face was calm and mellow, sweet and kind, as he sat staring at her wet photograph admiringly.

In the photo, Kinn's eyes were calmly closed, hiding her beautiful, black pearl-like eyes, facing the camera with an innocent smile on her soft, pale blue face. Her light, sky blue hair covered her forehead and partially covered her right eye, similar to Cyan's, and a deep blue scarf visibly wrapped around her neck. Her right cheek had a visible tear track going down her chin, which was a nice touch but sometimes made Cyan feel a bit sad as well, especially when she started to actually feel sad.

Cyan's ocean blue eyes twitched as they narrowed as if in pain, and a saddened smile curled on Cyan's lips and they quivered as he continued to stare at the photographs clutched between his fingers. But surprisingly, thick droplets of salty water suddenly dropped onto the laminated photograph, slightly obscuring Kinn's calm face, though not damaging it.

Cyan would stare at this for minutes at home. Maybe curled up in his bed covered with a warm blanket as he texted his friends on their group chat on his phone. He would smile a happy smile as he adored the picture, feeling motivated by her innocent smile wherever he goes, and he would take a stroll with her together, just the two of them, perhaps admiring and enjoying a sunset as they walked, warm, fluffy feelings radiating from her presence and hugging his heart.

But now all he could do as he stared at the picture was curl up on a rough stone floor without a blanket to keep him warm, crying salty drops of nectar from his eyes, his smile turning into a saddened, despairing, frustrated frown as his tears cascaded down his face. He sobbed as he sat on the cold, damp floor of a cave, with no sign of his beloved Kinn sitting next to him. There was no Kinn to hold him close and tell him that everything is going to be alright. There was no sign of any beautiful sunsets to enjoy, as the weather outside was a raging thunderstorm, pink droplets of water carried by merciless gusts of freezing cold wind relentlessly raining down on what-used-to-be-Paradise, dark pink and gray thunderclouds rolling on the skies above, lightning crackling every now and then, sending a loud boom every time they did.

And Kinn wasn't able to seek shelter in this horrible damp cave in time.

She was carried away by the now-pink ocean waves, desperately holding on to a half broken floating tree as the waves threw her back and forth in the water. Cyan's heart lurched as they recalled what happened earlier in the day.

"Kinn, look out!" Cyan yelled pointing at something behind the girl as they ran away as fast as they could from the mountain, which was showering rocks and boulders everywhere, and before they could react any further, a huge boulder landed between them with a loud THUD. With a sickening crack, the edge of the cliff they were running on split into hundreds of pieces, launching the two teens a few feet up the air and letting them splash into the freezing cold water below.

God, it was cold. So mind-numbingly cold that Cyan couldn't react immediately. He broke the thrashing and foaming surface of the water, gasping for breath, and spotted Kinn floating nearby an uprooted tree, half-conscious.

"Kinn!" he screamed as he started to swim. "Hang in there, I'm coming!"

At his voice, Kinn stirred around slightly, trying her best to keep her head above the surface. "C-Cyan...!" she croaked.

Nearly there... Cyan kicked his legs as hard as he could, his clothes completely soaked in saltwater, heart pounding harder than ever before. He reached out to grab a nearby tree trunk so he could reach a hand to Kinn. Almost there...

But suddenly, another large boulder landed right in front of him, completely seperating him from his beloved Kinn as a massive wave splashed over him. He could briefly hear Kinn's petrified scream before the waves engulfed him, letting him sink like a stone to the depths of the ocean.

Kinn... he thought desperately, and he thought it was over when the blackness engulfed his senses. But before he completely blacked out he could feel something tugging at his scarf and pulling him the opposite direction from Kinn.

She was carried off by the waves and now Cyan will never know what happened to her. Was she still alive? Was she stranded on an island somewhere?

Cyan couldn't bear think about what happened if she was neither.

"Cyan..." a soft voice whimpered from behind the despairing cyan-haired teen. He felt a hand touch his shoulder, but didn't react. "I'm so sorry..."

"She's not dead," he choked, half to himself. "S-she's still out there, I can feel it..."

"I never said she was," the feminine voice spoke again. Cyan looked up tearfully and saw one of his best friends, Equilia, who was a charming girl with beautiful golden strands of hair which were usually hidden under a milky yellow hood, standing over him with a look of deep sadness in her olive yellow eyes.

Cyan sighed, unwrapped his scarf from his neck, and pulled it over his head like a hood to hide his hair and face. "J-just leave me a-alone, Lili..." he said, voice trembling.

Equilia, or 'Lili' as Cyan had called her, nodded stiffly and went to check up on their other two friends, Verdan and Ferris.

Still with the wet photograph clutched between his trembling light gray fingers, Cyan stared into the obscured distance outside, trying to think of positive thoughts.

He didn't want her to leave him so early.

He didn't want her to be gone before he was able to say "I love you."

More tears streamed out of his usually glimmering ocean blue eyes that Kinn loved to admire. He recalled hearing her tell him that they looked like sapphires. He choked out a saddened laugh between sobs, trying his best to not think of a future without her.

He doubted that the rain will ever stop. But sooner or later, he will go out and find her. No matter how hard the rain pounds upon his head. He will find her, safe and sound in his arms. They will have a future together. He will be able to confess his love to her. She will be safe. He will make sure of it.

She will be safe.

His heart lurched with determination as he stared at the rain outside the mouth of the cave. A fire burned within his ocean blue eyes. A fire sparked with determination. A determination sparked from the desperation to see her beautiful, black pearl-like eyes, her sweet, innocent smile, and her warm, comfortable hugs again. He stowed the photograph of her in his damp pocket and balled his fists.

"You will be safe."

...

Okay let's be honest here

This came outta nowhere. xD

I was in the car and I was thinking of something to write related with love, and here we are. A quick oneshot made in less than two hours! ...I think!

I mixed the elements of love and sadness and yeah

I dunno, I'm just feeling like writing stuff with intense feels I guess. :P

I love these two.

Tell me if I pulled on your heartstrings too much. :3

Toodles!
