Alternate Scene I | Multitasking
A/N: This is a slightly comedic take on a scene from the chapter 'Of Dresses and Doves I'.
Luna visits Caspian's chambers to tell him about the quite revealing gown she is to wear – once again.
» You- You're wearing it again? « He doesn't know where to look, a blush already coating his cheeks. Luna waves it off, partly to calm her own nerves,
» Oh, I'll own it and make them regret putting me into this, trust me. « To stop her hands from fidgeting, she buries them in the layers of her dress, playing with the silky fabric. Looking down, she tries to supress the wave of insecurity threating to overcome her. This gives the king time to clear his head. He blinks a few times, steering his thoughts away from Luna looking beautiful, dodging the touch of anger and jealousy about the people putting her in a situation like this AND the very possible looks she will receive. Recalling his education, he plasters a smooth smile on his features. As his eyes meet hers, said smile becomes sincere, his voice drops,
» Indeed, you will. « Luna laughs but cuts herself off with a huff. Always the dutiful warrior, she is about to treat this matter like any other battle.
» Stop flirting, Cas, we have business to attend to, « she turns to march towards the door. Refusing to show his surprise about her bluntness, he rushes to fall in step with her.
» I can multitask, « mumbles the king.
» Can you? « Her question is more a snarky comment, not really meant to be said out loud at all, her mind is all over the place. Cas's brows knit together. This is getting to her head way too fast; he is not sure he likes this – of course, he loves to watch her surfing on the spur of the moment, allowing her sarcasm and wit to take over. However, in this particular situation, he wishes to be included, not only be a bystander. He is the King of Narnia, for Aslan's sake, he should be able to help the one who holds his heart.
» In this matter, yes, « he grumbles.
