Chapter 17: China and Nerissa, A Conventional Meeting

(Nerissa's POV)

I was collecting my bags when I landed in China. It was pretty warm here. My team and I were waiting outside the airport to find China waiting for us?! Why is he here?!

"Hello children! How are you all today?" he greeted warmly.

Oh, my gods. He sounds like my older sister a bit. He rushed over to us as he talked a lot about how grateful he was to be here with us. I walked to push him away and stop him from talking, but I didn't have to.

"Like, you need to stop. This is not ok" Hong Kong said as he pulled China away from us.

Thank god! He was able to keep China silent as he walked towards us.

"We will take you to your hotel and explain to you all where your meetings will be held. Thank you for coming to our home" he greeted as he motioned us to go into the car.

I smiled at the two of them warmly as we boarded the car. There was heavy traffic and a lot of people were running around. There wasn't as much smog as everyone in the States kept mentioning. The car turned towards the hotel and abruptly stopped. I nearly hit the seat in front of me as the doors opened. This was very different. Once my team and I separated into our respective rooms, I decided to call my sister and our parents to reassure them that I had made it to China safety. Though, I was going to have a long conversation with my sister about how China and Hong Kong knew I was coming to China. Before I went to my room, I heard Hong Kong call my name.

"Hello Hong Kong and China, how are you two today?" I asked as I crossed my arms over my chest in annoyance.

"We are very great! It is so nice to see you again!" China exclaimed as he tried to hug me.

I quickly stepped to the side as China hit his face against the column. I sighed as I faced Hong Kong. He just smiled and nodded his head at me.

"Well, like, are you ready for your meet?" he asked curiously.

"Yes. My group and I have rehearsed our lines and prepared our robot for this meet. Now, why are you two here?" I asked annoyed.

"Nina told us you would be coming to my place for your competition! Of course, we had to come and make sure everything is prepared for you!" China answered as he stood next to Hong Kong proudly.

I knew my sister had something to do with this. Sheesh, I have fought many powerful beings. I think I can handle being on my own in another country for 4 days. I wish she would let me have a little more freedom than this.

"She wanted to make sure you would be safe after the battle you had a few months ago" China pointed out.

It was already 2 months since that giant battle, but even then, my sister clearly saw how powerful I was. She should know I can handle myself just fine. I let out a yawn. Oh, right. I should get some rest.

"We will let you relax. If you need anything at all, do not hesitate to call us" China said warmly as he and Hong Kong left the hotel.

I walked to the hotel and went to my room. I kicked my shoes off, threw my bag into the closet, placed my phone on the night desk, and laid on the bed. I ended up sleeping for the rest of the day. My teammates woke me up, and we began to work on our robot together. I was able to help my team with the speech and answering questions while the rest of the members were able to make sure our robot was ready. It was around lunch when we decided to take a break though none of us brought lunch. We heard a gong go off and turned towards the doors of the conference room.

"Hello hard working students! How are you today?!" China shouted warmly.

Two chiefs rolled charts in with a lot of food! My teammates rushed towards the food carts and began to pick out food to eat. I was very stunned. How did he know we were going to have our meetings here?! I was ready to storm over to him and demand a reason, but Hong Kong put his hand on my shoulder.

"He just wanted to help" he said as he went to get some food for himself.

I was curious as to what he meant. He seemed pretty serious about this. I decided to get some food for myself and sat with my teammates. As we finished our lunch, China and Hong Kong gathered the plates and extra food with the chiefs' help. They took everything away and left us alone to continue our work. I began to ponder on what Hong Kong meant. China was very kind to apply us some food during our meeting. Maybe I was overthinking this. I went to bed, pondering this thought. The next day, we had a break. I texted my sister and told her I was going to explore the city for the day. Once I was ready, I left my room and headed for the lobby. I had some breakfast

"Hello, miss, what would you like to have for breakfast?" China asked as he approached my table with a notepad and pen.

Well, fine. I guess this is how we are going to do this.

"Pancakes and bacon please" I requested as I handed him the menu.

He gently smiled as he took the menu and went to get the food for me. I was texting Alex about my visit here. He seemed very interested in this, but I was just here to win.

"How are you doing?" Hong Kong asked as he approached me.

"Good. How are you?" I asked calmly.

The two of us sat at the table and shared our meals together. We were able to have a nice conversation. Once I finished my meal, I was prepared to head out.

"Oh, do you have a free day today?" Hong Kong asked surprised.

"Yeah, we get to have a day to explore the city. Do you want to come with me? I would like to have a guide" I offered.

"Sure. It beats waiting for my older brother" he said as he left some money into the table.

We both left the hotel and began to walk around the markets. However, the shops were closed. When do they open up?

"Most of the shops open at night. Since most people work all day, they shop, eat, and party all night" Hong Kong explained as we carefully walked around.

There were some small noodle shops open while some of the big restaurants were closed. I saw a shop filled with stuff toys. I walked into the shop with Hong Kong behind me. I knew I had to get something for my sister and Alex. Those two would love something from China. Hong Kong waited outside as I looked at the toys. I saw one cat and turtle stuff toys. I thought of them the moment I saw those toys. I quickly paid for the toys and went outside. I couldn't find Hong Kong in the crowd though. Where did he go?

"Hong Kong!" I shouted over the crowd.

Why did he leave me? Wait a minute, something is not right. I put the two toys in my bag as I tapped my commlink. There's a nightmare here. I ran through the crowd and searched for Hong Kong and the nightmare. As I ran to another shop, someone launched dark spheres at me! I stepped back as I created my energy sphere. Ok, who's doing this?!

"Well, I thought I was going to fight your sister. Not you" I gasped when I saw nightmare Gula.

My sister did have a hand in his defeat, but Preselzee and Ven were able to stop him.

"Too bad. You have to deal with me. Where is my friend, Hong Kong?" I asked as I prepared to throw my energy sphere at him.

"What a dumb name. Is he really such an important friend of yours? I think friends are bit annoying. Don't you think?" he asked as he drew his keyblade at me.

"Not really. I like having friends. It gives me comfort" I replied as I threw my energy sphere at him.

He quickly cut the orb in half as I jumped in the air and created dragon wings. I flew towards him as I prepared another energy sphere. He ducked away from me and slammed his keyblade against my back! I hurled towards the ground and expected to hit the ground, hard. Expect China rushed in and caught me before I hit the ground.

"Are you ok?" he asked concerned.

"I'm ok. Thanks" I answered surprised.

He was fast for being an old man. He gently placed me on the ground as he faced Gula.

"You have my little brother, and I would like him back" China stated simply as he stood in front of me.

"As if. Hand that Dreamer over to me first. Then I will give your little brother back" Gula offered as he landed in front of China.

China just rolled his eyes at him. I could see why. China is wise and knows what he is facing. I don't think anything phases him. He is always serious or joking around. However, I have never seen him too serious about anything.

"You are too young to know what you are facing. Again, please give back my little brother or else" he offered again.

"No" Gula simply answered as he turned away from us.

China rolled his eyes at him and turned towards me. He just nodded his head at me. He extended his hand and took my hand. He then threw me towards Gula! I made sure my wings were ready to fly me away as I knocked Gula down! I fly high into the air and hovered next to China. Gula groaned in pain as he held his face.

"Well, that hurts. I didn't expect you to have that kind of power. However, I will not give up your brother. You won't even find him here" Gula said as he picked himself up.

China pondered on this thought. He knew every inch of hic country, so he should be able to find his brother.

"Alright. Here's the deal. If I cannot find my brother when the sun sets, you can have her" China said with a smile.

I am sorry, what is he thinking?! That sounds like a terrible bet! Why am I the prize?! That seems very wrong on many different levels.

"Really? She is one of the strongest Dreamers. Are you sure you are willing to bet over her?" Gula asked amazed.

"Yes" China answered confidently.

Nope! This is not ok! I don't want any part of this! I was about to shout out my points of view on this, but China put his hand over my mouth. Gula just nodded as he smiled at us.

"Then good luck finding him" he said as he quickly fled from us.

Once he was far away from us, I smacked China's arm. He looked at me surprised as my wings vanished.

"Why did you do that?!" I shouted at him annoyed.

China just smiled as he walked forward. I followed him, but I demanded to know what his plans were.

"I had to make sure he was overconfident in his abilities. Afterall, overconfidence leads to an easy victory. He seems like he knows everything which he doesn't" China answered as we continued to walk past everyone.

I noticed the sky was getting darker and quickly ran after China. More and more people were coming out into the streets as well as more shops opening up. China soon stopped in front of the Great Wall of China.

"Why are we here?" I asked surprised as I looked at the wall.

"Because when another country visits, we can feel where they are. This rule also applies to any one who attends a magic school, your friends, anyone from other worlds, and the Dreamers. I know where my little brother is, and we will find him before the sun sets" he reassured me as we went to the Great Wall.

China began to climb up the wall. When I took a step, I tripped and fell on the ground. What did I trip on?! I looked at the ground and saw the steps were uneven! Who designed this?!

"Careful. The steps were purposely built like this, because the horses could not climb this" he said as he extended his hand out to me.

I took his hand, and we continued to walk up the stairs. China flashed a badge to one of the guards. The guards moved away, and we went down this dark tunnel. China stopped after we walked to the bottom of the tunnel. I looked over his shoulder and saw Hong Kong knocked out on the floor!

"Is he ok?" I asked as I went to Hong Kong's aid.

He seemed to be ok.

"Yes. He just needs to rest. Now, let's get out of here" he said as he helped Hong Kong up.

We were leaving the wall when Gula stood in front of us!

"I won" China said with a bow.

Gula was flustered as he held his keyblade.

"Well, I will not let you escape then!" he shouted as he lunged at us!

I didn't have time to create an energy shield, but China ran forward. He is very fast for someone his age! He easily dodged Gula's incoming strike and punched his stomach! Gula was launched away from us and hit a tree. Hong Kong woke up and saw Gula sitting under the tree.

"What happened?" he asked as we continued to walk out of the Great Wall, "I guess that is his fault for trying to hurt me. We are still brothers and care for each other, but who is that guy?"

"That guy isn't a nice person, and we need to get out of here!" I explained to him.

As we made our way out of the Great Wall, Gula weakly stood up to face us. China helped Hong Kong up as I prepared to face him. I understood what Hong Kong meant now. I created an energy sphere as I approached him. He seemed afraid, but I was calm. I unleashed the sphere's full power and made the nightmare disappear. The nightmare Gula seemed surprised. I just smiled at him.

"You can rest now" I reassured him as my energy sphere made him disappear.

He vanished into the light as I turned towards to them. They smiled at me when they saw what I had done. I had simply protected them and let the nightmare finally rest. We quietly made it back to the hotel and had a nice meal together. We ended up walking through the market at night. Everyone was celebrating and enjoying their time together. Hong Kong went to get some food while China and I sat together at the table.

"Thanks, I guess" I said calmly as I took a bite from my chicken.

"Do not thank me. It is the job of us older siblings to always look out for our younger ones. We don't care what happens to you, but we will always help you" China answered as he enjoyed his meal.

Well, he could not have laid that lesson on more thickly. I smiled. I know I have a big sister who will always help me out when I need it. Hong Kong rushed to us with a huge plate of food in his hands. We ended up enjoying the night together as we ate a bunch of wonderful food together.
