History: The Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel is a faction that comes from the state of Illinois. Originally from the West coast brotherhood, the founders, along with many soldiers, were sent off to the east to hunt down the remaining super mutants that were allegedly sighted in the area via prototype versions of the brotherhood airships. Unfortunately, as they were over the great mountains, a great storm occured causing a ton of damage to them which in turn forced them off course and onto the ground, crashing near the city of Chicago. Only twenty men in total survived the ordeal, consisting of some elders and soldiers.

They would then set their base within Bunker Alpha and for the next couple of decades would struggle in keeping their faction in one piece, having to deal with constant mutant and raider attacks on their base/scouting runs, with them even losing contact with the west coast brotherhood during one of the attacks on the bunker. They were able to convince some people from nearby villages to join their group, but it wouldnt be enough for them to last a long time unless they remained low.

Suddenly, in the year 2277, after the conclusion of Fallout 3 and the destruction of Adam's Air Force Base, things would begin to change for the better. When a man named Jameson Oliver was elected as high elder, he would make decisions that would in turn benefit him and the brotherhood. He would provide weapons and aid to the nearby settlements and villages so that they wouldn't have to worry as much about the mutants and raiders which in turn convinced them to join the brotherhood, which in turn increased their numbers.

Their numbers would continue to grow for the next twenty years with them recruiting more villagers and settlers, and even some non-hostile super mutants that have moved on from the Masters rule. They even managed to discover some sentient deathclaws that originally came from California and recruited them as well.

By the year of 2297, they would have tight hold onto the state of Illinois when they got word from some of their scouts of Enclave troopers attempting to make their way to the state of Missouri. With the knowledge given to them by the sentient deathclaws, 59 year old Jameson Oliver would send in a team to hunt them down.

By the time of Fallout: Missouri, the Midwestern Brotherhood would establish their base within Bunker Gamma and would be an open faction for the player to join.
