For the longest time, monsters intrigued me

Why they would always come out when we were asleep

For the longest time, I followed the story, how the prince beat the monster and set the princess free

For the longest time, I didn't realize, that the villains had no backstory

But then, at night, the truth hit me

I cried

I cried and screamed and wept and sobbed

I tortured my vocal cords

I couldn't care less

This was nothing compared to what They bore witness

For, t'was neither the heroes, nor their loses I shrieked for

But, for the villains and monsters who were nothing more than victims

To someone's plots and horrors that were better left buried and untold

You say to love the heroes of the story

But, what use are they, with no villains who are their only reason for existence

For the longest time, I never knew,
that monsters walked at night

Not to frighten, but because, that is when they don't have to hide

When I don't have to hide

And .... done ! How was this ?
