Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer
'This an old saying, but a useful one
Strategically, it's a worthwhile gamble
Physiologically, it's a vent

They are honest about your faults for they hold no attachments to you like those of your loved ones

You annoy them, unafraid of hurting their feelings, for they are your opponents, worthy of a challenge

You taunt them and smile as they jab back, for you have become used to their sharp words

Bit it can get addictive and bad.

Like swimming while intoxicated.

You get it in your head to take on too much, and then drown
