"(Y/n)! Kakyoin is here!" I heard my mother holler from the bottom of the staircase just loud enough for me to overhear. "Thanks mom!" I set aside my (book/art supplies/other hobby), sprinting to the front door to eagerly greet him.

"I brought snacks!" Was the first sentence to roll off his tongue as he held up a large transparent bag filled with treats for our sleepover. "You're a godsend!"

I held the door open, standing aside to allow him to shuffle his way inside. The bag was quite hefty, small red lines forming on his hands due to holding the plastic handles for such a long duration of time. "You got (favourite snacks)?!" I spotted the edge of a (crisp packet/chocolate bar/etc) as he passed me by. "How could I forget." He smirked proudly, slipping out of his shoes before carrying the bag to my room.

As soon as the door had been shut, he emptied the entirety of the bag's contents onto my bedsheets. "That's quite a collection. Do you think we'll manage to eat it all?" I feigned an unsure tone, a playful smile creeping onto my lips. Of course we would eat it all.

As Kakyoin separated the stash into two separate piles, I decided to set up my Nintendo Entertainment System with the game The Legend of Zelda. A timeless classic that Kakyoin and I have played ever since its debut. Gaming hasn't been relevant for very long, but since it was so new and considered cool in our schools, we decided to join in on the trend.

"Yes!" He cheered once he overheard the introductory music begin to play, a heavy feeling of excitement and nostalgia washing over both of us as we watched the game start up. "Who goes first?" I held out my enclosed fist towards him, ready to play the routine game that decided on our starting player; Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Hours had passed like nothing, flying by in the blink of an eye since our game was so addictive. But eventually, Kakyoin placed the rectangular controller aside. "My eyes hurt.." He whined, blinking them harshly to try and rid them of the sensation.

We decided that we should switch it off for the time being, and trotted downstairs to grab a bite to eat. "Mom's gone to work, but she left us some food!" I announced happily once I read the small pink sticky-note that she had stuck onto the fridge. I swung open the door and retrieved the two plates that she had set on the top shelf, placing them down onto the kitchen counter to heat up.

"Doesn't it bother you that your mom is always working?" Kakyoin questioned quite curiously, sitting on one of the kitchen countertops so he could dangle his legs off the side of the unit. "(Not at all/sometimes/yeah, but it is what it is)." I shrugged.

After chowing down on some well-deserved food, we decided that it was finally time to dig into our stash of sweets. We would always save them for the end of the night as kids, just to save our energy to stay up all night. Tonight was no different. It had become a habit of ours that led to tradition later in life.

"So, let's talk about Jotaro."

The mere mention of his name, as well as the suggestive tone in Kakyoin's voice, caught me completely off guard. As I coughed and choked on the first bite of my (chocolate bar/chips/etc), I tried my best to wave my hands at him dismissively, assuring him that I was both alright and that there was nothing to talk about.

"Aww c'mon.. With a reaction like that, you can't expect me to let this one slide, can you?" He teased, popping a small piece of candy into his mouth after throwing it into the air expertly.

"Well..." I sighed. "A couple days ago, my mom and I had an argument, which led to me leaving the house in the middle of the night and somehow meeting him by the beach." I admitted bashfully, averting my gaze to focus on unraveling some treats from my stash. "We went for a walk, but that was it."

Kakyoin deadpanned. "You two went for a beachside stroll in the middle of the night, under the stars, alone together. And you're saying 'that was it'? This is progress, (Y/n)!" He flicked my forehead strongly enough the be half joking, half serious. "How come you didn't tell me this before?"

"Cause I knew you'd react like this." I flicked his forehead back with the same intensity. "Well at least tell me, did he walk you home? Was it romantic?" He pried eagerly, his attitude switching fairly fast since curiosity overruled his irritation.

"No romance, but he did walk me home." I pushed him away by pressing my hand against his chest and shoving quite harshly, considering the fact that he was a crazily buff guy for his age. He pouted in return, arms crossed over each other in a huff. "You're so oblivious, it's starting to get under my skin."

"I'm not oblivious." I recorrected. "Just realistic."

"Then how come he acts so affectionately towards you, huh? I've never seen him talk to anyone else the way he does with you." He was beyond determined to change my view on Jotaro and I's current and future status.

"Because I'm such an amazing person, obviously. I don't blame him." I teased, earning another defeated sigh from him. That was, until he regained his composure enough to give his final retort. "Of course he thinks you're a great person. It's because he loves you!"

"Now you've lost me." I feigned an unsure expression, a small smirk going unnoticed by the fixated brute once he was distracted by my response. "Jeez, you're hopeless." Kakyoin finally crumbled, giving up on his attempts to persuade me, returning his attention to the uneaten chocolate bar that lay idly beside him.

Even I couldn't deny that it was a possibility at this point. He showed me his private research notes, walked with me along the beach, visited me during working hours, and even assured me everything would be alright when I was getting worried about facing my mom.. Either he really does like me that way, or else he has me placed on a much higher pedestal than all his other friends.

Either way, this friendship is starting to work in Kakyoin's favour. Was I really willing to give in and flat out agree with him? We still have that bet of 6,000 yen, and I'm not ready to go bankrupt just yet..

"Agree to disagree." I hummed quietly, happy to keep my suspicions under wraps for the time being.
