"Kakyoin, wait up!" As evening drew closer, Kakyoin and I had decided to call it a day and head home for the night. The sky's bright oranges, pinks, purples and blues were bound to be short-lived, but we were able to bask in the colourful light cascading onto the water, glistening and sparkling as if bidding us a goodnight.

"I'm cold!" He whined, continuing to speed-walk towards the concrete pavements laid out next to the sandy beach. "Stop being such a baby." I huffed, jogging to catch up to the rushing brute that didnt hesitate to leave me in the dust, or rather the sand. "I always wait for you.." I flicked his cheek with a pout playing across my lips as I finally matched his fast walking pace.

"(Y/n)!" My body trembled at the sound of my voice being shouted in the near distance, and not for the reason I was expecting. Jotaro seemed urgent as he treaded towards us, eyes bright with worry as they were cast downwards. "You're injured." He stated abruptly, crouching down by my feet to examine the source of the blood.

"W-what..?" It was only then that I noticed a long trail of blood leading all the way towards the shoreline, as far out as I could see. And this wasn't just a small trickle of crimson lining the sand - it seemed to be a large gash that I didn't happen to notice while chasing Kakyoin earlier.

"Jotaro.. Your house is the closest, so bring her there and patch her up." Kakyoin suddenly demanded, eyes fixated on the pool beneath my foot. Jotaro nodded solemnly, returning to his examination of the gash. "I'll go figure out what cut you so we can prevent this from happening to someone else. Catch up to you later." He winked playfully whilst Jotaro was too focused on my injury to notice. I blushed slightly, narrowing my eyes at him before he sped off to find the culprit. I swear, that guy always finds a way to pair us off together like this..

"Here.." My attention was averted to the sharp sound of ripping as he tore apart a piece of his shirt. The strip of cloth was enough to wrap around the entirety of my foot, stopping the blood from spilling out too much when he tightened the knots he'd tied at the top. While it had stopped the flow momentarily, it soon began to lightly seep through, staining the grey material with blotches of darkened red.

Leaving no time to spare, Jotaro scooped me off my feet without warning and began to jog home with me in his arms. Startled, I wrapped my arms around his neck tightly, squeezing my eyes shut as I tried to block out the waves of pain now washing over me. I'd been too cold to realise it had happened before, but the heat radiating from Jotaro's body mixed with the adrenaline of the situation caused the intense pain to follow through.

My grip on his jacket tightened, hands balling into fists around the tufts of fabric to try and ease the pain. My eyesight was becoming blurred with each sensation pulsing through my leg, getting increasingly worse now that I was aware of it. Noticing this, Jotaro placed his free hand on my back to rub large circles on it soothingly, trailing across my shoulder-blades in an attempt to calm me down. Thankfully, we weren't far from his house, so the trip was as short-lived as the sky's lingering hues disappearing into the night's sky.

Once we were in the house, he kicked the door closed with the back of his heel, not a care in the world other than tending to my injury. "Jotaro? Is that you?" A sweet, shrill voice chirped from across the hall as he took a sharp turn into their kitchen. He set me down on the countertop without another word, leaving his unanswered mother to curiously search around the house for him.

"Oh! Jotaro!" She beamed upon seeing him, hands clasped together happily. But once her eyes caught sight of me, her head tilted to the side inquisitively. "I-I'm a friend of Jotaro's." I quickly introduced myself, seeing as she was about to ask. Her smile was quick to reappear as she greeted me, introduced herself, and left just as suddenly as she had arrived to give Jotaro space to patch me up. My barely lucid state must have been pretty obvious for her to leave so quickly.

His mother is so nice.. I wasn't expecting that at all, considering how rude and abrupt Jotaro can be towards others.. He didn't even say a word to her just now.

He unwound the cloth that had been wrapped around my foot once a small basin was placed beneath it. I was about to assure him that it was unnecessary, but that was before blood instantly began to trickle down in droplets, creating a small mass of blood in no time. My mouth hung wide with shock since I hadn't expected it to still continue to bleed. That's definitely going to need stitches..

I grit my teeth together, jaw clenched as I was now able to fully acknowledge the pain. Without the makeshift bandage, the cut had reopened and air was beginning to seep into the fresh wound. After washing his hands, Jotaro dampened a fresh strip of cloth with a mixture of water and a mild soap designed for cleaning wounds such as this. He seemed to have a lot of medical products laying around the cupboards, presumably because he gets into fights quite a lot..

He gently pressed the cloth against the sole of my foot every few seconds, soaking up blood and removing sand grains as well as cleaning it. But it hurt more than it should've each time pressure was applied. "You're pressing too much.." I tried to pull my foot away from his grip, but he grabbed ahold of my ankle and took the opportunity to look further at the cut. "That's because there's a piece of metal in it.." He sighed quite harshly, frustrated that he hadn't noticed this before since it could cause infection and more unnecessary pain.

He grabbed a pair of tweezers, and after sterilising them, he began to try and guide out the tiny piece of metal that was lodged into my foot. "Looks like a tin can sliced into you." He observed, pinching the exposed edge of the metal and pulling it out quick without warning, like ripping off a bandaid.

No sooner had the lodged piece of metal been removed, my vision became much more blurred, the room spinning just as much as it had when I was sick. Without any form of anaesthesia, the pain was hard to bear and made me feel oddly woozy. "Jotaro.. I.." I desperately tried to warn him that I was going to pass out at any second, seeing as I was leaning forward towards the metre-high drop to the tiled floor. "(Y/n)-.." Was all I managed to hear before my body collapsed into his arms lifelessly, not even stirring while he attempted to wake me up again. Everything went dark, and the pain had finally stopped for the time being..

"Oh look, she's waking up." The familiar cheery voice from what felt like moments ago announced. "(Y/n)." And soon to follow was the sensation of warmth spreading across my forehead as Jotaro checked my temperature. "She's fine. You've been checking her temperature every fifteen minutes so you should know this by now." A soft chuckle echoed around the room, but I couldn't figure out where it originated from.

My eyes slowly fluttered open, scanning my surroundings in a daze until my gaze met that familiar calming colour of blue infused with green. "What.. Happened..?" I questioned as I slowly propped myself up on what looked to be the kitchen table. I was still wearing my wetsuit from surfing earlier, only that it had been rolled up on my injured leg to allow for the bandages to wrap around the entirety of my foot.

"You passed out." Jotaro stated coolly, hand pressed against my back to help me sit up straight. I rolled my neck around a little, seeing as it was stiff after laying on such a flat surface for what seemed to be a few hours. Peering outside, all I could see was pitch black darkness, not a single star to be seen in the cloud-covered sky. The wall clock read that it was midnight, only a few hours after my arrival here.

"I should get going before my mom figures out I've disappeared and files a police report." I joked lightly as I rolled down the hem of my wetsuit to cover some of the bandages. I lifted myself from the table, but could only manage to balance on one leg since my foot was in pain whenever I applied pressure to it in the slightest. "Oh no, you need to stay here for the night. Your foot is all stitched up and needs as much rest as it can get to heal up." Jotaro's mother led me to a vacant chair by the table to sit momentarily. "I'll go set up a second futon." She beamed, scurrying out of the room to fetch another set of bedsheets for me.

"Stitched up?" I reiterated silently to myself, peering up at Jotaro as he retrieved a cigarette from his coat pocked. That's something I haven't seen for a while since he seems to restrain from it when I'm around. "Yeah." He nodded, fiddling with the small object dangling between his fingers while staring intently at nothing in particular. "Oh.. Okay.." I didn't know whether to thank him or his mom for stitching up my wound, but I guess I'll ask some other time when I'm not too tired to simply blurt out random words of gratitude.

"...here." Hesitating for a moment, Jotaro hid the cigarette once again to hold out his forearm to me. I wrapped my arms around it, hoisting myself off the chair and using it to help keep my balance while he led me down the hallway to one of the other rooms; his bedroom.

His room was surprisedly simplistic, with a lack of furniture and abundance of space around the room to keep with the minimalistic theme of the house. I expected to see an overload of oceanic decor, but was instead met with a singular bookshelf of books and a handful of items related to the sea. A few shells, perfectly rounded rocks eroded by the waves, and a small stuffed dolphin plushie that looked slightly tattered with age.

Jotaro helped me to lay down onto his bed before he walked to his small wardrobe, retrieving a set of pyjamas for himself. Along with this, he tossed me a set of boxers and an older shirt of his. "Wait, but this is your bed.." I noted as I caught the clothes he threw towards me. "Don't you want to take this one? I can sleep on the extra futon if that makes things easier?" I suggested with a slightly anxious smile. Not only was I overbearing at this point, but I was basically kicking him out of his own bed after everything he'd done for me. It was my first time being inside his house, and I was intruding way too much already.

"Stop talking and get some sleep." Was all he decided to say before turning to leave the room. But before the door had completely closed, he paused. "...I'll knock." He added, leaving the door closed to give me enough privacy to get changed in peace.

I sighed once again as soon as the door had been shut. Nothing I said could make any difference to my situation at this point, so I finally gave in, changing into the set of clothes that he provided me with.

The soft moonlight that barely shone through the window served as my only light source, shining in striped patterns to match the partially closed blinds. I crawled towards the other end of the bed, content to be wearing such a loose-fitting but perfectly-sized shirt. It was warm enough to keep me cosy, and light enough to keep me from overheating. Just perfect.

I snuggled in under the blankets and hummed contentedly at the smell of lavender infused with Jotaro's usual scent; musky, with a hint of cigarette remnants. I was immediately drawn to it, burying my head further into his pillow to relax with the comforting idea of his lingering presence.

A light knock sounded from the doorway as Jotaro didn't dare open the door, just incase I was still indecent. "Its fine, you can come in." I assured him, my words strewn together lazily, just about reaching him as he complied.

I could hear him pause by the doorway, my eyes too tired to reopen to meet his eyes as he stared down at my sleepy form. I was bundled up so cozily under the sheets, breathing soft and slowing as a peaceful expression crossed my features before I fell unconscious. Something he was familiar with seeing after babysitting with me.

After a final hesitated step, Jotaro strode to his side of the room, slinking into the sheets as quietly as possible to leave me undisturbed. "Goodnight.." And only silence followed after that, not a single noise to be heard as he lay there soundlessly before going to sleep. Tiredness had eventually caught up to me, and I couldn't put up a fight to stay awake any longer. "Good.. night.."
