* cough cough *

I groggily sat up straight on my mattress, fighting the overwhelming headache that felt as if my skull would split open at any second. I was unmistakably sick, but had no way of telling Kakyoin or Jotaro that I was unable to meet them by the beach today.

Deciding to get up and at least eat something, I stood to my feet and tried my best to leave the bedroom. I lost my balance almost instantly, my body uncontrollably tilting to the side, only to be caught by the nearby wall that prevented my fall.

My shoulder crashed against the wall quite heavily, provoking a wince as I wasn't expecting it to be so painful. My senses were heightened, and all my aches and pains were intensified. "Ugh.." I held my head in both my hands, using my back that now pressed against the wall as my support while I cradled it. I haven't been this sick since I was a kid..

Using the wall as a guide, I pressed one hand against it and walked slowly towards the door. I at least needed to write a note for Kakyoin since he would undoubtedly come to check on me. He usually worries when I don't show up within the first hour of our meet-ups.

I somehow managed to trudge down the stairs, gripping onto the wooden banister like my life depended on it. And once I had finally made my way into the kitchen, I searched the room for a notebook and pen to leave on the counter-top.

But before I could find anything, everything began to slowly fade to black. My eyesight became blotchy and clouded, and everything seemed to appear much farther away. And suddenly, I felt my body become much lighter than before, the room blurring into incoherence while my consciousness faded completely.

"(Y/n)?" Kakyoin called out, knocking on the now slightly ajar door quite loudly as he entered the house. Once inside, he shut the door and placed his spare key aside. Jotaro stood earnestly behind him, eyeing the interior of the house for the first time.

"She's probably still asleep." He waved his hands about nonchalantly in an attempt to assure himself more-so than assuring Jotaro. But his companion was too busy to overhear his ramblings, still looking around at the random childhood pictures and paintings hung across the walls.

"(Y/N)!" Kakyoin suddenly hollered from across the hallway, rushing to help the girl that lay sprawled across the kitchen floor. A small pool of blood slowly tricked from the back of her head where it clearly made contact with the countertop's edge, coating parts of the white tiled floor with a dark and unnerving shade of crimson red.

Jotaro was quick to appear by the doorway, and even quicker to appear by the unconscious girl's side. "What happened?" He gravely inquired, cradling her head as gently as possible in one hand to examine the source of the blood.

"I found her like this. She looks so pale.. She must have passed out." Kakyoin observed, noting how pale her skin had become. (She was normally pale, but this was beyond that at this point/her skin tone isn't naturally like this, so to see her so sickly pale was quite alarming/etc.)

Jotaro simply nodded once, assuming that he was right. And with this in mind, he picked her body up off the ground effortlessly as if she weighed nothing. "Where is her room?" Kakyoin led the way, guiding him up the stairs to point it out.

Jotaro was very wary as he held her in his arms, ensuring he didn't hurt her any more by supporting her head as best as he could. Once the door had been opened for him, he shuffled through the doorway sideways, and set her down gently onto the futon.

"Get a wet cloth and some bandages." He ordered, crouching down next to her without averting his gaze from her sleeping figure. He was beyond worried internally, but externally remained calm and collected.

Kakyoin soon returned with a fresh dampened cloth, and a small roll of bandages to apply once the wound had been cleaned. "Here." He held out the cloth to him, holding onto the bandages for once he was done, analogous to a doctor treating a patient's wounds with a nurse on standby.

Jotaro tried his best to clean the small gash on her head without causing her any pain, but this proved to be difficult as she was beginning to stir in her unconscious state, clearly feeling the light pressure of the lukewarm cloth against her wound..

My eyes felt heavy as I slowly opened them, adjusting to the room around me. "What..?" I blurted aloud, reaching my hand up to my head in a state of utter confusion. My body was propped up, and something was being gently pressed against a sore point on my scalp, so I tried to swat the disturbance away to go back to sleep.

"Stop that." My eyes widened at the sharp tone of voice that reprimanded me. "...Jotaro?" I tilted my head to the side slightly, catching a glimpse of his figure towering over me before my vision began to blur once again. I winced, my eyes shutting tightly in an attempt to diminish the pain. "Keep still." He urged, moving my head back to its former position so he could continue to treat the wound.

"What's going on?" I continued to keep my eyes shut, trying to focus on the sound of his voice rather than freaking out about the fact that my vision was fading infrequently. "You're sick. What were you doing out of bed?" His voice seemed slightly angered, surprisingly. I wasn't expecting him to sound so unnecessarily insulted, but I could only guess that he was just worried.

"I was going to write a note for Kakyoin.. And maybe get some food." I answered honestly with a light shrug. "Seriously?" His voice lowered even more, sending cold chills running up and down my spine. His voice sounded so close, and with my senses being heightened, it sounded even closer than I had expected. "Yeah?" I laughed sheepishly.

"Yare yare daze.. You need to take better care of yourself." He sighed harshly, reaching for the bandages that lay next to him. "Where's Kakyoin?" I questioned curiously. I didn't see him, nor did I hear him in the room. That, as well as it being an attempt to avert the discussion. "Gone to get medicine."

I gently tried to pry open my eyes to get a better look of the room, and surely enough, my vision was slightly less blurred but the light was much brighter than before. It hindered my sight for a moment, but once I grew accustomed to it, I was able to see once again. I peered around as Jotaro wrapped my head in bandages, and noticed that my body lay flat across the mattress of my futon while my head lay on Jotaro's lap.

I blushed slightly at the realisation that we were so close, a little embarrassed to say the least. "You're burning up.." He commented quietly, pressing his flat palm against my forehead to check my temperature. This ended up encouraging my face to heat up even more against my will.

"Kakyoin will be back with medicine soon.." He murmured, tying a small knot in the bandages to hold them in place for the time being. I wasn't sure if he was talking to himself, or if he was trying to reassure me. But either way, it managed to make me smile lightly at his concern.

I couldn't help but silently appreciate this softer side to Jotaro. He was acting so gentle, wrapping my bandages up with such care, pressing the cloth against my wound so lightly. My heart would randomly swell with overwhelming happiness, cherishing this foreign caring attitude.

Once he had finished up with the bandages, all went silent and not a word was being spoken between us. My head remained on his lap, which didn't seem to bother him in the slightest. I closed my eyes, finding the peace and quiet to be slowly lulling me to sleep, along with the warmth radiating off the burly hunk of muscle I lay against.

~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~

Her eyes fluttered closed, and she slowly drifted into an unconscious state. Jotaro didn't dare admit it, but he was content to just sit there with this girl laying comfortably against his lap, her chest rising and falling consistently whilst she was lost in a seemingly pleasant dream.

He couldn't help but reach his hand out to caress her (h/l) (h/c) hair, admiring its (shine/softness/etc) as he lightly played with it. He (twirled his fingers through her curly locks/combed his fingers through her silky tresses/etc)

"I'm back." He was quick to remove his hand from the girl's hair when Kakyoin reentered the room, as if he would have been caught in the act of something repugnant. "What are the instructions?" Not knowing what do with his hands anymore, he placed them by his sides and acted coolly as if nothing had happened.

"She needs one spoonful in the morning, midday and night. Because it's midday now, we have to start from here until she gets better." He sighed, taking the off-putting purple medicine bottle from its pharmacy bag, and placing it on her desk to fish out the measuring spoon. "She is not going to like this stuff, but it's gotta be done.."

Once he had everything in order for her, Kakyoin decided that the sooner she had taken it, the sooner she could go back to sleep. "(Y/n).." He cooed softly, approaching the girl lightly to try not to wake her up too abrubtly. "(Y/n)..!" He reiterated slightly louder, now lightly gripping her arm to rock her back and forth. His attempts were eventually successful, and she groggily stirred awake.

"Time to take your medicine." He chuckled, pouring some liquid from the phial into the provided plastic spoon.

A) You refuse to cooperate

"No." I turned my head to the side, attempting to go back to sleep.

I heard a frustreated grunt just above me, and suddenly by body was beginning to lift into a seated position rather than laying down. I opened my eyes to see Kakyoin approaching me with the unidentifiable purple liquid that looked almost like a death wish.

"I'm not taking that." I, yet again, turned my head to the side in a state of utter disgust. There was no way I was going to willingly take that medicine, unless I was heavily bribed.

"Yare yare.." I felt Jotaro's collosal hand latch itself onto the underside of my chin, tilting it up just enough for Kakyoin to try and force the spoon into my mouth. I used my arms to try and pry myself from his grip, and once that proved to be unsuccessful, I tried to knock the spoon from Kakyoin's hand as he approached me.

A near miss, but my second unsuccessful attempt at stopping the inevitable only made things worse. Jotaro used his free arm to lock my arms in place on either side of my body, in an awkward hug-like position while he sat behind me.

I pressed my lips together tightly, trying my best to avoid downing the medicine. But unfortunately for me, the measuring spoon was flat-topped, and was more than likely designed to help parents give their uncooperative kids medicine like this.

It managed to just about slip through, and as soon as the medicine hit my tongue, I was tempted to spit it out. But before I could even consider it, Kakyoin glared at me, almost as if he had read my mind. I let out a slight sigh, knowing that the longer I held it in my mouth, the worse I was making it for myself. So I downed it, and began to cough and splutter uncontrollably.

Jotaro's latch on me loosened up, and he removed his arms from me to allow me space to recover from their small act of betrayal. I could barely speak, but just about managed to spit out a few profanities. "See? Not so bad, was it." Kakyoin laughed as my hacking cough finally stopped.

~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~

B) You cooperate

I eyed the purple-tinted liquid with a disgusted grimace. I could already smell the wretched stench of the medicine from where Kakyoin stood, and dreaded the moment he neared me.

"Are you going to cooperate?" He questioned with a small chuckle, almost in disbelief since the sight of the medicine nearly made him gag alone. I simply nodded, hanging my head low since I knew it was inevitable. Resistance is futile with this guy when it comes to my wellbeing.

As Kakyoin approached me, one hand cupped underneath the spoon so none of its contents spilled, I tilted my chin up and took a few deep breaths. And with my last sistained breath, I held my nose and opened my mouth just enough for him to shove the spoon in quickly. I swallowed almost instantly, and then proceeded to cough and splutter at the unexpected consistency of it. It almost clung to the back of my throat, spreading its vile taste throughout my entire mouth.

As I continued to choke on the substance, I felt the conforting feeling of a collossal hand rubbing small circles across my back in a soothing manner. It helped ease a little bit of the pain I was in, and as my coughing slowed to a complete stop, Jotaro removed his hand to check up on me.

"Well that was dramatic." Kakyoin jeered airily, earning himself a menacing glare. "Shut up." I just about croaked out before another few coughs managed to slip.

~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~✧~

"I hate this.." I whined as the taste of the vile medicine lingered on my tongue. "I know, but it'll help you get better." Kakyoin encouraged with a laugh at the genuine disgusted expressions I pulled.

Jotaro stood up from behind me, and began to silently leave the room. "Where are you going?" I curiously inquired, my hand reaching up to my throat in an attempt to smooth the pain. Talking so loud after the amount of coughing I had done was proving to be quite sore.

He didn't answer, and continued to walk towards the staircase at the end of the hall as Kakyoin walked over to me. I was now sitting where Jotaro had been previously, with my back pressed against the wall. Kakyoin took a seat next to me and sighed.

"I thought you'd been attacked by someone trying to break into the house." He admitted silently, his gaze fixated on the desk opposite my bed where the medicine bottle lay. "You were out cold. There was blood on the floor, and you looked so pale that I thought you'd died."

"But then I found your pulse." He turned to me, meeting my saddened gaze with a sombre expression to match. "And it made me realise how quick something like this could happen to you, and I wouldn't be able to do anything about it." He wrapped his arm around my shoulder, and used his hand to guide my head onto his shoulder. "You're my best friend. I would be nowhere without you. So for my sake, and for Jotaro's sake, please don't do anything that will put yourself in this kind of danger again. Okay?"

I nodded, unable to respond due to shock. Kakyoin and I were so close that we never felt the need to express this kind of platonic affection towards each other. It was a mutual understanding, and we preferred to laugh and have a good time in moments like these rather than getting caught up in the sad times. So to hear him sound so distraught and serious.. It felt like my heart had shattered.

"I'm glad you're okay." He pat the unhurt section of my head endearingly before removing his arm from me. "And now that I know you are.." A cheeky grin began to form on his face. "I hope you realise how insanely worried Jotaro has been acting. He took care of you himself for the past hour. He even carried you all the way to your room!" He smirked devilishly, the Yen signs almost clearly defined in his eyes as he thought about our wager.

"This doesn't mean you've won. It just means he was being a good friend." I chuckled lightly as his childishness. "You can't be in denial forever!" He huffed, followed by a laugh at the situation.

"If you saw the way he looked at you, you wouldn't be denying it."

Before I could even begin to respond, we heard the sound of a pan being placed onto the stove downstairs. "And look, he's even making you food!" He smiled triumphantly, clearly the winner of our short-lived debate.

"You must be starving." He commented, since it was already beginning to get darker outside, and I still had yet to eat something. My stomach decided to respond for me, growling with enough intensity that Jotaro could've probably heard it from all the way downstairs.. "I'll take that as a yes."
