Third Person POV
As soon as Bas got off P'Joss' car and entered the gate of his house, he unmuted his phone and went straight to the voicemail message that P'Kim left on his phone.
"Bas!" P'Kim's voice sounded urgent and frantic. "Where the hell are you? Have you watched the evening news yet? Call me as soon as you get this message!"
Bas quickly tapped on P'Kim's number. He took the call on the first ring.
"Bas! I've been trying to reach you! You must go to Bangkok General Hospital right now!" P'Kim exclaimed at Bas.
"Why, what happened? Who's in the hospital?" I asked suddenly feeling a sense of foreboding.
"Didn't you watch the evening news? Godt got into a car crash and was rushed to the hospital this evening!" P'Kim yelled on Bas' phone.
"Can you bring me there, P'Kim?" Bas pleaded in tears.
"Okay wait for me, I'll be there in a few minutes," P'Kim assured Bas.
Bas felt so guilty. P'Godt had tried to video call him and he had ignored it. Bas started calling himself all kinds of ugly names to dispel the guilt that was hanging over him.
He paced up and down outside his gate hoping and praying that P'Kim would arrive quickly and take him to the hospital so he could be at his P'Godt's bedside to hold his hand.
Bas heard a soft honk and saw P'Kim's car approaching. As soon as it stopped in front of him, he opened the car door and settled into the passenger seat.
"How did it happen?" Bas asked over and over again, not bothering to wipe away the tears that were streaming down his cheeks.
"I really don't know the details but I'm surprised because he is usually a cautious driver. I wonder what made him take his mind off the traffic," P'Kim remarked.
"He had video called me earlier but I did not take it," Bas confessed.
"Why didn't you take it?" P'Kim asked curiously.
"Because I was having dinner at P'Joss' condo unit," Bas confessed again.
P'Kim's car screeched to a stop at the side of the road.
"Bas! You naughty, naughty boy! How could you do that to your P'Godt! Does he know that you're seeing Joss?" P'Kim was looking really upset.
"Yes, he does," Bas admitted, burying his face in his hands, "when he brought me back home after our lunch date, he saw P'Joss' car at my gate and I admitted to him that I was going to have dinner with P'Joss."
P'KIm banged his fist on the wheel, setting off a loud honk which made Bas jump in his seat.
"Let's go to the hospital right now," P'Kim said grimly, revving up his car and driving almost beyond the speed limit.
They were lucky to see a car backing out from the one and only remaining vacant parking spot in the hospital parking lot. P'Kim quickly swerved and took the empty spot and parked his car.
Both Bas and Kim jumped out of the car and rushed inside the hospital lobby.
They asked the reception desk where they could find the room of P'Godt. They were told that he was in Room 333. That would be on the third floor.
They went to the set of elevators. Bas noted that the elevators were all stuck on the ninth floor. It would take a while for the elevators to reach the ground floor.
Bas grabbed P'Kim's hand and headed for the stairs.
"You seriously don't plan on taking three flights of stairs, are you?" P'Kim asked Bas incredulously.
Bas did not even answer. He just kept on running up the stairs and P'Kim had no choice but to follow.
By the time they reached the third floor they were both out of breath, panting helplessly.
"You crazy, crazy kid," P'Kim said between taking in gulps of air.
It took a while to find Room 333 but they eventually found it.
P'Kim tried to knock but Bas had already pushed open the door.
He ran over and flung himself onto P'Godt's chest crying loudly and uncontrollably.
P'Godt's parents and sisters looked on helplessly as P'Kim bowed deeply to them, apologizing repeatedly.
