Joss' POV

After I dropped Bas off at his residence and after I came back to my condo unit, I felt so empty. My condo unit felt so quiet and lonely.

I decided to go back to my car and drive to some pub for some drinks.

I decided not to go to the pub nearest to me in case I got recognized and then people would start approaching me. I decided to drive farther away into the outskirts of the city.

I found one that didn't look crowded. In fact the parking lot had only a few cars parked in it. I was able to park my car closest to the entrance of the pub.

As I walked into the pub I was greeted by a waiter. I asked him for a solo table farthest from the entrance of the pub. He found one for me at a quiet dimly lit corner.

I asked the waiter to bring me a Bud light and a combination platter of onion rings and fries.

As I waited for my order to be brought to my table, I happened to glance at a TV that was hanging against the wall right across my table.

My heart started to pound wildly against my chest.

Right there on the screen was Bas walking out of the lobby of Bangkok General Hospital. Walking beside him was his friend Kimmon. They were being surrounded by paparazzi and cameras were flashing on their faces.

Suddenly the TV camera guy zoomed in on Bas' face. His eyes were red and puffy and there were still traces of tears on his cheeks.

What happened??? I wondered anxiously.

My question was answered immediately by early footage of Gxxod being brought on a stretcher by paramedics into the hospital emergency room. The newscaster in the background was announcing that Gxxod had been in a road accident.

So that was why Bas had decided to leave me earlier. He must have been notified by his friend Kimmon through his voicemail about the accident and had rushed to the hospital with him.

My chest started to tighten with pain.

The screen once again was showing Bas being interviewed by a field newscaster.

"How is his condition? Is he conscious? Was he able to talk to you?" the field reporter was throwing the questions at Bas in rapid fire succession.

Bas did not speak. He just nodded his head. He looked so sad which made me feel so sad as well.

For several seconds I was distracted by the return of the waiter who placed my order on my table.

"Thank you," I said to him, handing him some bills, "keep the change."

"Thank you, sir," said the waiter with a smile when he saw the generous tip I had given him, "was there anything else you wanted?"

"Yes," I said, "please bring me two more bottles of beer."

I was beyond caring that I could get buzzed and that I did not have a designated driver. In fact, maybe I should just drink myself half blind tonight.

Another field reporter suddenly threw Bas a question.

"Bas, you look so sad. In fact you look like you've been crying. Has Gxxod's accident affected you so much? Do you love Gxxod?"

Everyone inside the pub turned to look at me as I found myself yelling at the  TV screen, "NOOOOOOO ! ! ! "

I regretted drawing attention to myself, but most of all I regretted not waiting to hear what Bas' answer was to the question.

I would have to wait for a re-run of the evening news before I could find out how Bas had answered the question.
