Chapter 13: needles

Today was the day. The day you had to get blood work. Bloodwork isn't fun...

Sure, it hurts at first, or the whole time, depending on who draws your blood, but in the end? It'll be worth it.

See the thing about Gordon is everyone knows him, whether they watch his shows or not, so the second he walks in the doctors office with some random teenager, everyone stares. Or takes pictures. Or start texting their friends...

But you were just here for blood work. So you check in and have a seat, fidgeting with your hands, it's been a while since you've had blood work done, you hated it, not just because it hurts, but because afterwards your mom didn't care, aren't parents supposed to be concerned when their child is in pain?

But of course, she isn't here right now. Gordon is. But so are the stares...the confused, judging stares...

But they don't matter right? They're just...people who are here for probably the same reason...why should they care?

The fact that you were on the verge of an anxiety attack wasn't helping with the stares, and the stares aren't helping with the panic settling in your chest.

Your chest tightens, breath hitches, eyes water, and it's happening. In front of all these people. In the doctors office. In front of Gordon.

This can't be happening. Nothings going right. Last night? Weird. This morning? Terrible. Now? The worst.

You tried to just hold this all in. But it's too late for that. Far too late. The tears are already streaming, it's already too hard to breathe, let alone do it steadily, your hands are shakier than a chihuahua that just got rained on...in December.

Or in other words, this sucks.

All is horrible And unwell until, Gordon hands you...a...toy?...

You're confused. But too busy panicking to care. You grab it.

It's some fidget thing or something...

And it's awesome.

It actually helped a lot.

You calm down, eventually...oh and would you look at that? You're being called back.

You had always had struggles getting blood work done, it was either they couldn't find your vein or you almost passed out. Or both. So the solution?

1. Laying down

2. Water on standby

3. Getting it drawn from your hand

It sucks. A lot. And this isn't helping.

Eventually the blood is drawn...and you leave.

Your arm hurts. A lot.

The drive home is silent, save for a few sniffles here and there. As soon as you get home you go upstairs and take the best sleep you've had in recent years.

Tomorrow will be better.

A/N: hai!! Srry it's been so long!! I've been workin on other stuff lolsies. Now that I don't have the aroace hangout to do, I'll try and work on this more!!
