Johnny LeBeau's had a rough life. His crappy life started five days before he turned nine years old: Christmas Day 2007. At that moment, he was abducted, subject to blood transfusions from Bishop and Maverick, then his muscles were tweaked by Sinister. Surprisingly, he survived the procedure and was dumped back home before anyone knew he was gone.

Later in his life, on his thirteenth birthday, he was having a normal birthday party and a forty-foot robot tore the roof off the house he was at. Of course, not knowing his powers had activated, he picked up a fork and threw it, not really expecting the utensil to do much to the robot. With nobody noticing, he threw the glowing fork at the robot and blew its head clean off. Sadly, he also lost the fork he was using, so he got a new one and finished eating his cake. When they saw the fork blow the robot's head off, though, his then-foster parents knew he was a mutant and subsequently returned him.

Skip to two years ago. Johnny caught a thief in the orphanage, only for the thief to reveal himself to be Remy LeBeau... Johnny's dad. When Remy, AKA Gambit, revealed to Johnny what was going on, Johnny himself realized he was a mutant, not just some kid with superpowers. Afterward, Remy took Johnny back where he'd arrived from, giving Johnny a real home for once: Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, cover for the X-Mansion. Once Johnny walked in, a girl that looked in her mid- to late-twenties walked up and hugged him. She later revealed she's his mother Ann Maria... Rogue.

Skip another year and Johnny's ready to use his powers to defend the world alongside his parents and their teammates the X-Men. For Johnny, the lineup for his first mission was a small band of heavy hitters: Scott Summers AKA Cyclops, James Logan Howlett AKA Wolverine, Jean Grey, Emma Frost, Piotr Rasputin AKA Colossus, his parents Rogue and Gambit, Kurt Wagner AKA Nightcrawler, a couple newer additions called Armor and Pixie, Piotr's sister Illyana AKA Magick, and himself. The first mission was naturally just a recruitment one, run-of-the-mill for the older ones. Of course, things go south fast when a dozen powerful mutants walk into town to confront another mutant that's potentially just as dangerous. The recruitment became a rescue operation when a band of Sentinels abducted the person his band was trying to recruit. That of course led him to test his throwing arm to distract the Sentinels long enough for Wolverine to wind up on one of them. Given he had previous experience blowing robots up with small objects, he seemed to enjoy throwing a rock rather than a plastic fork as a means of testing proportionate objects to see if they had proportionate explosion radii, which between the plastic fork and the rock was verified. Naturally, he also saw a much bigger object he could throw: a whole Magic The Gathering starter box. Yes, 285 cards, all lit up magenta and thrown all at once, with the case, at a forty-foot robot. Needless to say, along with the team he was with, he saved the mutant and made a new friend also.

This story, which is told from Johnny's perspective, takes place one year after those events. There is a bit of catching up to do, but that's best saved for Johnny to explain...
