Fourteen
Like a pile of people you and Johnny rolled across the floor, limbs entangled, cursing and insulting each other without taking a single breath in between.
As loud as two fighting cat, you came to a stop right in front of the group of monks who instructed the other three newbies in some history lesson.
Teeth clenched and a worried look on your face, you tried to hoover away from Johnny but he grabbed you by the ankle and dragged you back into his influence.
"Nononono!", you begged, trying to kick him off.
Your nails dug into the ground, scratched across smooth stone, leaving bright marks behind.
The beating of your heart went nuts as he threw himself on top of you to take you in a headlock. This time it was so harsh that it made you gasp for air.
"You little shit.", he breathed into your ear and squeezed.
"I don't wanna die like this.", you begged with tears in your eyes, both hands on his arm to keep the last bit of space to breathe.
"You summoned the beast, don't be a bitch now."
His legs moved to each other your sides. You could feel the strength of his body above you. Each move made some kind of muscle in his body move.
In any other situation you could have enjoyed this. But this was different. Even though this was obviously a situation just for the fun of it, you started to sweat in panic.
Screaming for mercy you twisted and turned in his embrace while Johnny kept on bugging you about knowing your place and why it was a bad idea to fuck with him in the first place.
It was like a fight amongst siblings.
"Are you guys okay?", a voice cut through your fight.
Torn from your little brawl both you and Johnny froze. Heads shot up at the same time. Embarrassment made your head feel like you had gotten a fever out of nowhere.
"Get off.", you hissed with clenched teeth and tried to shake Johnny off your back.
But his arm remained tightly locked around your neck, the other pinning your wrists down. This was humiliating yet the most fun you've had in weeks.
A grin lit up on your face.
"Hey there.", you said.
Confidence was key. Even the monks said so. And this situation definitely called for it. A lot of it even.
Mixed expressions greeted you, Kenshi with deep wrinkles covering his forehead, a confused yet softly amused look in Raiden's face.
Only Kung Lao seemed to enjoy this moment at its fullest. With his hands crossed in front of his chest he looked down on the two of you with a smirk.
"We arrived yesterday, Johnny.", Kenshi muttered with a clear look judgement in his eyes. "Can't keep in your pants?"
"You have to tell me your secret.", Kung Lao huffed.
Oh yes, he really was enjoying this.
Only Raiden shook his head. A soft sigh squeezed through his lips while the corners curled upwards to make him struggle to surpass that grin.
"It's nothing like that.", Johnny made sure to squeeze a little harder before he released your head.
But he didn't disappear entirely. He kept himself above you, legs popped on each side and pinned your wrists down to limit your options for resistance.
"Nothing at all!", you insisted as well and wiggled in his grip. "Let go!"
"First you gotta apologise.", his thin eyebrows rose and a puppy dog look appeared on his face.
"Your expressions are as bad as you first movies, Johnny!"
Shocked, he gasped. But it didn't really sound honestly offended.
"Tell me something I don't know, bunny.", he said with a casual roll of his eyes and finally rose to release you. "Stars gotta do what they gotta do to make it. You think a mega star like me is an exception? Hollywood doesn't discriminate."
"Except for the point where it does.", Kenshi noted in a dry manner.
He was already a few steps ahead as you made it back to your feet.
"Kenshi, wait!", you gasped and caught up.
"I'm not interested in your little ramble.", he said with a glance over his shoulder. "Keep me out of this."
"Out of this?", you asked with a frown. "I'll stick with you from now on so that I can stay out of it."
Two of your fingers ran along your throat. It was just the phantom of a touch that still remained but you thought you were able to sense Johnny's warmth still on your throat.
"Cage is your problem now."
"I didn't chose this. Though he is kinda fun, gotta admit that."
"He chose you. There's no way out of that.", his brown eyes jumped over his shoulder once more to check where Johnny, Raiden and Kung Lao remained.
It seemed like his eyes were looking for something. As he didn't find it a soft breath of disappointment escaped him and he turned back to look ahead.
Curiosity tickled in the back of your mind. If you knew one thing then it was how to read people's reactions. After all, it was your favourite activity to make them have one in the first place.
You glanced at the Japanese swordsman for a moment. Unlike Johnny was direct but not dull. He didn't appreciate rudeness but also disliked unnecessary chit chat.
You decided to go for the direct approach.
"You have your feud with him.", it wasn't a question but simply the result of your observation over the past hours.
"I can't imagine how that would concern you.", Kenshi replied.
His distant kind of way made your skin tingled. This was a challenge.
"It doesn't. I'm no couples therapist.", you said with a shrug.
Thick black eyebrows drew together. Wrinkles appeared in Kenshi's forehead once more. Not that it was a seldom occurrence.
He seemed to frown most of the time.
For a brief second the two of you walked side by side. Not a word was spoken.
You didn't even know where you were going to. All you did was follow Kenshi's lead.
"Johnny and I couldn't be further from that.", it finally came out of his mouth.
"Ah.", a thin smirk slipped onto your lips. "So rivals?"
"Not even that. He has something I want."
For a brief moment you had to think what he could have meant until one thing came to mind.
"That sword he guards like a dragon its gold.", you glanced at him to catch the reaction.
"It's called Sento. My family heirloom."
