Jade POV

"Hey did you hear? Apparently Blyke got his ass beat this morning." I stop walking.

"Yeah, it was the same guy that beat Isen too." The other student answered.

"He was completely powerless, and the fight was completely one sided." Said another.

"Don't forget brutal, their calling him Joker." My legs moved without me knowing. It's been a while since I met those three and Isen wasn't too lenient on telling who beat him even though I know he knew who he was. Before I knew it I was in the infirmary to find Remi and Isen there.

"How is he?" I ask worried. By now I really think I have a massive crush on Blyke.

"He's still asleep." Remi answers as I make it beside Blyke to look at him. He was really hurt.

"You really like him huh?" She continues making me blush and look away.

"Well aren't you adorable?" I hear Isen say when I notice Blyke opening his eyes.

"You're awake!" Remi says as Blyke tries to sit up.

"WTF, how long have I been here?" He asks.

"Most of the day.. School's almost over." Remi answers before Blyke whines in pain.

"Hey, don't move so much. You're still healing." I say helping him sit up.

"Damn it!" He says punching the bed making me flick his forehead as he whines.

"Didn't I just tell you to take it easy?" I say glaring slightly at him.

"How am I supposed to take it easy when there's a maniac running around school? Oh yeah and he's way stronger than me too! He out-maneuvered me so easily and with my own ability, no less! Ugh, so fucking humiliating!" He says frustrated.

"Don't be so hard on yourself. He had the jump on you-" Remi was cut off by him.

"And he always will! How are we even supposed to be ready for him? He shows up whenever he wants to while the rest of us have no choice but to sit around and wait for him to make his move. We're running on his schedule! He just finds a way to force his target into using their ability. After that, beating him becomes impossible!" Blyke ranted.

"So I'm guessing you didn't power up right away?" Isen asked.

"I tried to fight him with my fists but that didn't do much. He's trained in hand-to-hand combat and he already had an ability lined up for use in case anything went wrong. He's got all his bases covered." He looks so defeated..

"There's something I don't really understand. If he's just mirroring abilities shouldn't the fights be somewhat even? So how is he always able to dominate his opponent? Even if he had other abilities stored in advance, the skill gap can't possibly be that big." Remi says making me realize something.

"You're right. It wasn't an exact duplicate. His energy beam seemed like an amplified version of mine. He did things that I haven't been able to do." I widen my eyes and take a step back.

"What about you Isen? Did he- Hey Jade! Where are you going?" Remi called as I make my way out. There's no way.. it couldn't be him right? My brother.. didn't he become a cripple to stay away from trouble.. why would he do this?

My feet take me straight to his dorm, I haven't seen him, I've avoided him, I've goven him his space. I've maid sure not Isen or Blyke or Remi or anyone knew we were related.. so I haven't seen him at all since that day.

"John!" I yell knocking on the door but no one answered. I slide down the door and wait. There's no way I'm leaving until he explains what the hell he's doing. Minutes go by before finally he comes to my view.

"What are you doing here?" He asks as he walks closer opening the door and pushing me in.

"I thought I told you to not let anyone know we were siblings!" He says glaring and I glare back.

"And I haven't! But when you hurt one of my friends you can't expect me to sit back and do nothing! And you didn't just hurt 1 you hurt 2!" I say to him.

"Seriously? This is what you come here for?" He asks crossing his arms.

"Yes. You need to understand that I know your my brother and that is the only thing keeping me from hurting you right now. But I won't accept you hurting Blyke!" I say feeling my breathing go rigid and my eyes stinging.

"Wait a second, you just said Blyke.. you didn't mention Isen.. do you.. like Blyke?" I freeze. Damn it!

"You like a guy like that?!" Now he seems angry.

"And why wouldn't I?! He's sweet and caring and loyal! He's honest and has nothing to hide.. why wouldn't I like a guy like that?!" I ask frustrated.

"He's a jerk! He threw lasers at my head!" He yells back.

"And you slapped Remi when she was just trying to help! He was protecting her, you angered him. You can't blame him!" I argue back looking away.

"They've been the only true friends I've ever had.. they don't suck up to me, hell they haven't even ask for my ability. I don't want you to ruin that.." I feel my legs give out on me and John catches me in his arms.

"Why are you even doing this?" I mumble feeling my tears fall freely.

"Because I'm aiming to destroy the hierarchy of this school. Arlo wanted me to do something and act my rank.. and I am." He says.

"But not like this. John please... this isn't the right way to do things let me help you! You can't be beating people half to death that will only make them turn on you and call you unworthy!" I say looking up at him.

"How else am I supposed to do it then?! I already beat Arlo yet he continues to act all high and mighty as if I hadn't, pushing me. This is what he gets." He says.

"Then challenge him, you challenge him without a mask and just him! And do it in front of the whole school. Spare Remi.. she never did anything to you." I say with tears in my eyes as he lets me go.

"I'm sorry baby sis.. but I can't do that." He says petting my head like he did when we were kids.

"Now leave." He says pushing me out of the door and slamming it shut.

"John! Open up the damn door! What the hell was that?! You can't just say that!" I say knocking hard on the door but he ignores me.

"Why must you be so difficult." I mumble as my head touches the door and I let myself cry for a few seconds like this before leaving back to my dorm.
