The Security Guard and the Talking Dog
I wake up to the sound of the waves crashing against the ship. It's the middle of the night and I'm not quite sure why my body has decided to wake me up. I look to my left to see Vanessa and Winston sleeping peacefully.
SO WHY AM I AWAKE?!
I get up and open the door. No...um... passengers? Are you passengers when you're on a cruise ship? Hang on. Play some elevator music in your head while I look it up.
-------elevator music---------
Ok, yeah it's a passenger. I thought there might have been some fancy word that I don't know because I'm not a fancy person. But no. It's a passenger.
ANYWAY
No passengers are supposed to be wandering around the ship at night. But I really don't care. I start walking over to the beach chairs and I lie down on one of them. I almost fell asleep again until there was a sudden light hitting my face and yelling in my ear.
"Hey you!" a security guard yelled at me "What are you doing here past midnight?" Shoot. I forgot about the security guards.
"Uuuuuuuuuh," I stalled as I thought of something to say "my dog needed to go for a walk." The guard pointed his flashlight around my area.
"I don't see a dog." He said.
"He ran away."
"So your dog runs away and you're just gonna sit and not look for him?"
"He's a good dog. He'll come back."
"Why did your dog need to go on a walk at 2:43 in the morning?" Oh boy. What am I gonna say to this?
"He, uh... He likes to look at the stars!" I quickly spat out, not fully comprehending what I was saying
"Oh really?" The guard questioned "Did he tell you that?"
"Yup." I confidentially replied
"So your dog talks?"
"Sure does!"
"How impressive. What else has this dog of yours told you?"
"Oh, you know. The usual dog talk. He's told me about how I need to start giving him more pancakes instead of kibble, how he wishes he got to hang out with the Cocker Spaniel down the street more often." Where am I going with this?
"Interesting. Would this dog like to have lunch at the grille with me later when it's actually appropriate to be out here?"
Uh oh.
"Oh, that's not such a good idea," I say nervously "He's not really one for grilles."
"That's fine! We can grab a smoothie together!"
"Ya know what, I think you're getting a little tired sir, maybe you should go to bed." I say with my best attempt to get out of this.
"Maybe I should. And ya know what, I'll escort you back to your room. Maybe your dog will be in there!" The guard told me.
"Maybe he will!" I say.
The guard politely escorted me to my room and told me to have a nice night.
I feel like everything works out too well for me.
