Last night was a long night for Jill and Joe.

Ever since coming home from Nantucket a few days ago, Jacob hasn't been feeling the best. He hasn't been eating much, barely sleeping and overall fussy.

Last night, Jacob gave Jill and Joe a scare because he was having trouble breathing. Jill and Jacob quickly went to the hospital to get Jacob checked out and to see what is wrong.

Joe wasn't able to sleep last night due to worrying about Jill and Jacob. Jill hasn't been calling much due to wanting to be right by Jacob's side.

All morning long, Joe has had his usual meetings with his cabinet and other officials. Joe dosed off a few times but he wakes up right away.

Joe and Kamala are currently getting ready for their next meeting and Joe has dosed off again.

"Hey, Joe? Joe? Are you okay?" Kamala asks Joe as she rubs his back.

"Yeah yeah. I'm sorry, Kamala." Joe says as he tries to wake himself up.

"It's okay! Have you heard from Jill?" Kamala asks Joe softly.

"Not for a few hours. I hope nothing is wrong." Joe says with lots of worry.

"I'm sure if it's something big then she would have called. She is probably getting some rest herself." Kamala says to Joe.

"How is Devi doing?" Joe asks Kamala, seeing how his grandson is.

"He is good! Cole and Greenley are still at the house and they are watching Devi while Doug and I work today." Kamala says causing Joe to smile.

"Aw, that sounds so sweet." Joe says with a cheeky smile.

Just then, Joe's iPhone begins to ring. It is a FaceTime call from Jill.

"Is that Jill?" Kamala asks Joe and Joe happily nods before answering the phone.

"Hi, Jilly. How are you? How's Jacob?" Joe says as he answers the FaceTime call.

"I'm good, baby. I got some much needed rest and Jacob is doing a lot better. Jacob has been getting much needed sleep too." Jill says and bends down to show Jacob to Joe.

Jacob is laying on Jill's chest and he has an IV in his little arm.

"Hi, baby! Hi, bud! Dada loves you and misses you." Joe says to Jacob in a babyfied voice as Jill gives Jacob a soft kiss on his head.

"There you go, Jakey. A kiss from Dada." Jill says and strokes Jacob's hair.

Jacob moves his arms and reaches for Jill's hair, causing Jill to giggle.

"Oh, Jilly. it looks like he is getting better. He is active again and his color looks better." Joe smiles as he brings his phone closer to his face to kiss the screen, causing Jill to smile ear to ear.

Kamala smiles at Joe, Jill and Jacob's FaceTime call which she finds very adorable.

"Kamala is here too." Joe says and turns the iPhone screen towards Kamala and she waves.

"Hi, Jill! I am so glad to hear that Jacob is doing much better." Kamala says to Jill.

"Hi, Kamala! And thank you so much. How is Devi doing?" Jill asks Kamala with a grin.

"Devi is doing really good! Devi is spending the day with Cole and Greenley while Doug and I have a few work things to do today. And from what Greenley has sent, he is having fun." Kamala says to Jill.

"Aww, that's fun! I am so glad he is doing well!" Jill says wirh a smile at Kamala.

"So what did the doctors say that Jacob has, baby? A cold or the flu or something like that?" Joe asks Jill as he takes a sip of his water.

"He has the beginning of RSV, so the doctors are happy we brought him in when we did. Jacob has been in his incubator for a while and it's been helping him cough everything out and help him breathe better." Jill says as Jacob coughs a little.

Joe gets a concern look into his face hearing Jacob's congested cough.

"Did we do something to cause him to get it?" Joe asks worryingly, thinking the Nantucket Thanksgiving trip got Jacob sick.

"No, we didn't do anything wrong. We kept him away from crowds of people, none of us were sick. Sometimes it just happens, baby. Jacob will be just fine. He just needs some medicine to help him feel better." Jill says to Joe.

"Oh, Jilly. I wish I could be there with you two." Joe says as his eyes start to tear up.

"I know Joe. I wish so too, but there is nothing really to do for either of us here and the doctors and nurses have everything under control." Jill says and her voice trembles a bit as she tries to remain strong.

"Jilly, I love you and I love Jacob too." Joe says as a tear streams down his cheek.

Seeing a Joe cry makes it too hard for Jill to keep it together and she silently starts to cry.

"Oh, baby don't cry. You just said the doctors have everything under control. Jakey will be fine." Joe tries to calm Jill over the phone.

"It's just so scary. Seeing him in an incubator and everything. It makes me feel like a bad mother. Like I should've been able to protect him from this." Jill sobs and dries her tears on her shirt sleeve.

"Jilly, you're the absolute perfect mother. You've done everything right from the first day. Ever since you became Beau and Hunter's mom you have been nothing but perfect and devoted to our kids. You just said it yourself, the doctor said that we did nothing wrong." Joe says through his tears.

"You are so sweet, Joe. With Jacob I always felt like a bad mom because I didn't know I was pregnant with him." Jill says as she tears up.

"Don't feel like that, Jilly. The moment you knew about him you instantly became a beautiful and wonderful mother to him. He is so lucky to have you as his Mama." Joe says to Jill.

Kamala rubs Joe's back for support and smiles at Joe and Jill.

"RSV is a very common thing! Meena had it as a baby and so did Cole! They are both happy and healthy adults!" Kamala says with a grin at Joe and Jill.

"The doctors did say RSV is very common especially now since everyone has been wearing masks." Jill says to Joe and Kamala.

"That makes a lot of sense! That and the flu and colds are bad right now too." Kamala says to Joe and Jill.

Jacob yawns as he lays his head on Jill's shoulder and Jill happily rubs his back.

"Oh hi, baby! Yes, get your Mama cuddles in now because when you get home, Dada won't leave you out of his sight. No, I won't." Joe says in a babyfied voice at Jacob.

Jacob coos at Joe's words and rubs his head against Jill's shoulder. Jill gives Jacob a kiss on the forehead.

"I love you baby and so does Dada." Jill whispers as she feels Jacob get heavier and heavier on her shoulder as he falls asleep.

"Look at our baby, Jilly. He is so perfect and so lovely." Joe sighs as he admires Jacob through the iPhone screen.

Joe can hear Jacob's little breaths and his heart breaks as he hears Jacob's lungs rumble.

"I wish I could make everything better." Jill sighs as she strokes Jacob's back.

"But you are, Jilly. You're doing everything we can do for him right now. The thing he needs from us right now is love and you're the best at giving that." Joe reassures Jill.

Jill puts Jacob back in his little incubator so he can breathe better while he sleeps. The incubator is like a huge humidifier to help clean his chest out.

"Well, I'll let you two go finish your meetings! I'm going to get something to eat and maybe I'll do some work. I'll call you later, baby. I love you!" Jill says to Joe and Kamala.

"Bye, Jill! I'll see you when you and Jacob get home!" Kamala says with a grin.

"Bye, baby. I love you and Jacob so much." Joe says as he blows a kiss at Jill.

"Ugh, I feel so bad being stuck here and not being able to help." Joe sighs as he puts down his phone.

"Joe, you're doing the best you can. The both of you are. You're the best parents to Jacob." Kamala says, trying to comfort Joe.

"There is a reason people don't have babies in their 70s. I'm far too emotional to handle things like this." Joe says as he dries the corners of his eyes.

Kamala strokes Joe's back as he tries to calm down before their next meeting.

"Joe, emotion is a good thing. It just shows that you really care." Kamala says.

"It feels so good to have you and Doug with us on this journey. I'm so glad Jacob has a friend." Joe says, tearing up again.

"And I'm glad Devi has a best friend in Jacob. They are going to be close for the rest of the lives." Kamala says with a grin.

Just then, Pete walks into the meeting room.

"Hello, Mr. President and Madam Vice President. How is Jacob feeling?" Pete says to Joe and Kamala.

"He is feeling better. He does have RSV, so he will be in the hospital for a few days. Jill is staying in the hospital with him." Joe explains to Pete.

"Gus had RSV too and look at him, he is doing great! Jacob will be perfectly fine." Pete says with a grin at Joe.

"Joe has just had a rough day today because last night was a lot." Kamala says rubbing Joe's back.

"Well, whenever Jacob comes home from the hospital, we need to have a playdate with all four of the kids." Pete says with a cheeky grin.

"Yeah, that would be a fun day. The grandkids said on Thanksgiving that we should start a day care group. We nearly have enough babies" Joe chuckles lightly.

"Yeah, this was an unexpected baby boom!" Pete chuckles and smiles.

"And I thought it would stop at Kamala and Doug having Devi and you and Chasten having the twins." Joe says, recollecting the shock he felt when he found out about Jacob. 

"I'm so glad they're all doing fine now! And I'm sure Jacob will be home before we know it." Kamala says and smiles at Joe.

"Yeah, he seems to be a little fighter. Just like Gus." Pete says, giving Joe a pat on the back.

"Thank you guys, it truly means a lot to me to have your support" Joe says, standing up to give both Kamala and Pete a hug.

For the rest of the day, Kamala and Joe work together with Joe FaceTiming Jill a few times that day!

Three Days Later
After being in the hospital for three days, Jacob is heading home!

Joe has been slammed with meetings all day long due to the new Covid variant, so he couldn't go to the hospital to pick Jill and Jacob up.

The press patiently and anxiously waits outside to see Jill and baby Jacob.

At around noon, Jill walks out of the hospital wearing plaid pajama pants and one of Joe's long sleeve shirts while she holds Jacob close to her, wrapped in his favorite blanket.

The press begin to yell questions at Jill and Jill smiles as she and Jacob climb into the car together.

Jill places Jacob in his car seat and buckles him in while they press continue to ask questions.

"Hello, Madam First Lady!"

"Hello, Dr. Biden!"

"Hello, Dr. Biden and Jacob!"

"Dr. Biden, how is Jacob feeling?"

"Madam First Lady, is Jacob feeling better?"

"He is feeling a lot better! President Biden and I want to say thank you to all of you for praying and all of the well wishes for Jacob! Jacob is feeling better and he is on the road to recovery from RSV. Thank you everyone!" Jill says as she sticks her head out the window before she and Jacob leave to head home.

Meanwhile at the White House, Joe is having the whole house cleaned making sure everything is cleaned for Jacob's return!

Major climbs on the couch and lays down and Joe chuckles.

"Major, get down, bud. Mama is coming home and you know she hates it when you are on the couch." Joe says as he pets Major's head.

Major looks up at Joe with innocent eyes and stretches out on the sofa.

"No bud, that's not what Mama wants. You have your own bed, buddy. It is very comfy. Come over here instead." Joe says as he walks over to Major's bed and let's it for him to lay down.

Major reluctantly jumps down from the couch and lays down on his bed.

"Good boy, now Mama will be happy." Joe says and scratches Major's ear.

Joe gets a text from Jill that says: "We're on our way home now, can't wait to see you! xoxo Jill"

"Look at this, buddy! Mama will be home soon with Jakey. Yes buddy, your little friend is finally coming home." Joe says as Major gets up and wags his tail at the mention of Jacob.

"You like your baby brother, don't you?" Joe says as he pets a very happy Major.

Fifteen minutes later, Jill and Jacob have arrived back home at the White House!

Secret Service gathers around Jill and Jacob so the press don't get any pictures of the three month old.

It's not that Jill doesn't want people to see Jacob because she loves to show Jacob off and take pictures of him, it's just that she doesn't want the media taking pictures of him and make fake stories about him.

"Thank you guys so much for everything." Jill says to the Secret Service as she continues to holds Jacob.

"My pleasure." All of the Secret Service agents say to Jill with smiles.

"Let's go up to Dada." Jill whispers to Jacob who coos in her arms.

Jill slowly walks up the stairs to the residence and opens the front door.

"Joe, we're home." Jill calls as she closes the door with her body since she is holding Jacob with both hands.

Joe happily rushes of the couch to meet his wife and baby at the door.

"Hi baby, I've missed you." Joe says as he gives Jill a big hug and a kiss before leaning down and kissing Jacob on the head.

Jacob smiles up at Joe, causing Joe to dawn over his beautiful baby boy.

"Hi baby! I've missed you too. Here, come to Dada. I'll never ever leave your side again." Joe says as Jill hands Jacob over to him.

"Dada loves you so so so so much." Joe says and rocks his hips to keep Jacob calm.

"Baby boy is feeling great. He has to do one or two breathing treatments a day to help him cough the rest of the nasty stuff out but other than that, he is back to himself. He did loose two pounds, so the doctor wants us to make sure he is eating." Jill explains to Joe even though she can tell Joe isn't listening to her.

"Look, Major! Look who I have!" Joe says in a babyfied voice causing Major's tail to wag happily.

"Major! Come here, buddy! I miss you!" Jill says as Major runs over to her and she lets him, giving him a hug and a kiss.

"You look adorable in your pajamas, baby." Joe says with a grin at Jill.

"Aw, thank you. I didn't feel like getting dressed. I'm sure the press is going to have a hay day with me leaving the hospital not dressed." Jill says, sitting next to Joe and Jacob on the couch.

"Don't care about them. You like absolutely beautiful and very cosy to me." Joe says and gives Jill a wink.

"Ugh baby, no matter what I wear you say that." Jill says and leans her head on Joe's shoulder.

"It's because it's true. You're ravishing in any form." Joe says and gives Jill a kiss on the head.

Jacob has fallen asleep in Joe's arms and Jill is sleepy too.

"Get some rest baby. This has been a hard week." Joe says as he leans back on the couch and moves Jill to a more laying down position while still having her head on his chest.

"Yeah." Jill mumbles in response.

"Get your well deserved sleep." Joe says and kisses Jill's head one last time before she falls asleep.

For the rest of the day, Jill, Joe, Jacob and Major all spend time together as a family :)
